Luccane

Luccane
Chapter 19: Not Just a Threat

"I beg... Don't take my son..."

"That's you! Why defend this useless child?!"

"Mama! Papa!"

"Luccane! No, I beg you please don't take our Luccane!"

"This child will be more useful if used as food for sharks!"

"No! Mama! Papa!"

"Luccane, run as far as you can, my son! Keep on surviving!"

I woke up with a throbbing head as well as a body drenched in cold sweat after having that creepy dream.

Still at three in the morning made me sigh long, inexhaustible.

No matter how many times, I dreamed of Luccane being forcibly separated from his parents by Japanese soldiers.

The incident was very heartbreaking, making me feel reluctant to remember it again but unfortunately the dream continues to haunt me ceaselessly for the past week.

A quiet atmosphere accompanied me early today, as usual. Because of the obvious silence I could even hear the sound of my heartbeat very clearly without the help of a stethoscope.

"You why? Is your face pale?"

I let out a long sigh again, turning to Luccane who was already sitting at my study table while looking at me worriedly.

But tonight Luccane looks a little different.

"This past week I've always dreamed that when you were forcibly separated from your parents, it made my sleep very uncomfortable" I explained languidly.

Luccane got up from his seat, hugging me tightly trying to provide calmness and comfort. Slowly, I tried to regulate my breathing which became irregular.

Not only my body is tired, now my mind also feels quite tired because there are some kuntilanak who continue to follow me wherever I go like a tail.

Really, it is not a good thing for me who really want to have a quiet life away from the interference of a phenomenal entity typical of Indonesia that one.

Every time I asked out loud what their purpose was to follow me, only the deafening shrill laughter I heard from the kuntilanak.

Huh... You shitty ghost!

"Lying down again, now is not the time for you to wake up" Luccane said gently.

Although the drowsiness in my eyes completely disappeared, I kept my eyes closed trying to fall back asleep for the sake of my body health.

"Sleep, you don't have to think about things that shouldn't be your business. Let me finish it with my own hands" Luccane said, for some reason, bringing my eyes back to a great drowsiness.

Not knowing what would happen after this but my feelings felt very uneasy even though Luccane said each of his words softly as usual.

Although it sounded very soft, somehow this time I felt there was a very deep grudge from every word Luccane said just now.

"Close your eyes and go to sleep, my dear. Don't worry, those dreams are all just ordinary sleeping flowers."

After the words spoken by Luccane turned into silence, I actually fell asleep into dreamland without me noticing.

Luccane, hopefully what's going to happen isn't what I've been worried about all this time.

Yeah, I hope so.

...****************...

"Why did I leave me this last week?" carly asked as soon as I got on my seat before the class started.

I grinned at Carly's question, scratching the nape that wasn't itchy at all.

Yeah, how could I tell Carly that I heard a supernatural whisper? Maybe the crossbred girl thinks no.

"Ah well, I thought you were writhing the dedemit," the girl sneered, sitting next to me then.

If only I could answer Carly honestly but where might I answer her honestly, there would be new problems.

I shook my head, smiled thinly then.

"No, Car. I just want to boker so you don't have to think weird."

Shortly after, the lecturer who taught then entered the classroom and immediately started the course today.

With my mind branched, I tried to concentrate on the courses delivered by the lecturer.

I recorded the material written on the blackboard even though my mind was not in its place.

Luccane's words last night and that mysterious whisper just kept bothering me made me feel uneasy.

Does the voice of the woman who whispered the same thing every day for a week have anything to do with Luccane's past?

Huh... Why am I stuck in such a complicated situation without being able to do anything?

In the back corner of the classroom, as I took my eyes off the blackboard again I was shocked by a red-clad kuntilanak standing there.

The eyes of the kuntilanak were as red as the dress she wore, looking at me sharply as if she had a grudge that she had been craving for decades. It's weird, but I never did anything wrong to her either.

I who did not want to deal with him hurriedly refocused my attention to the front of the class, trying to focus and ignore the existence of astral beings who now blatantly follow me.

"Visha, can you draw the diagram of your research yesterday to the whiteboard?" pinta Bu Dita the lecturer.

It was fortunate that I did the task yesterday with full concentration, so I was able to return to work with ease.

Both of my legs stepped forward towards the chalkboard in front of the class and grabbed a piece of chalk to begin drawing my research diagram yesterday.

I confidently began to draw, not heeding the sinister grin of the kuntilanak who had now moved to the door of the classroom.

I don't know what intentions are in the mind of the kuntilanak until he looks at me so creepy like that.

"This diagram I created in accordance with the data I collected from various sources," I said after finishing making the diagram according to Bu Dita's orders.

"That's great, Visha. I hope you guys can create a diagram that uses valid data such as Visha's later.please sit back," said Bu Dita.

I nodded politely, inching back to my seat with a raging mind.

That mysterious whisper came back, telling me to stay away from Luccane.

Feeling my head dizzy, I sat down with my head on the table.

My head felt heavy as if it was holding up a large stone.

"Sha, why are you?" tanya Dimas was worried by the whispering voice.

"My head hurts a lot, Dim. It feels heavy that I can't lift my head," I replied softly still with my face leaning on the table.

From the tail of my eyes I could see clearly that there was a long-haired blonde woman wearing all-black clothes looking at me so sharply, standing within a few feet of me.

"Don't I have warned you early to stay away from Luccane, Vishabea? Don't push yourself if you don't want to die in vain!"

The cold words of the woman dressed in all black made me be able to draw the conclusion that the figure was indeed part of Luccane's past while still alive.

My body that had been soaked in cold sweat could only look at him confused, what was my fault until that woman dared to disturb my life like this?
