Jasper looked at Terence in shock.
To be honest, he had not achieved much in his past life. He also did not meet many of his relatives and never interacted much with Darrel and Terence Laine. Therefore, he did not know what their personalities were like.
In his current life, Jasper wanted to think that he had met quite a number of people; he had also dealt with all kinds of people.
However, he never expected Terence Laine to surpass his expectations of what it meant to be shameless.
The last time Jasper felt this way was when he dealt with Penelope Hunt and her family.
Even when compared to them, Terence Laine was still the gold standard.
"Why should I give you my money if I'm rich? Besides, you're asking for 200,000 dollars. Don't you know that the average salary for a job out there is only a few hundred dollars? It's considered a big advantage if you have a thousand-dollar salary" Jasper told him.
Terence sneered coldly and waved his hand. "Stop talking nonsense like that. Aren't you rich? We are all relatives. Shouldn't you help us if you're rich? Do you want to see us suffer from poverty? You helped my brother. Well then, it's not too much to ask you to give me 200,000 dollars, is it?" She asked.
"I funded your sister just because I thought her business would be profitable. Besides, I don't lend money to your brother. It's an investment. In other words, I keep investing this amount of money even though he is just a stranger, not Darrel Laine," Jasper said calmly.
"I do it because of business, not because he's my relative."
"I can support you if you have the skills, the business ideas, and the effort. But look at you. You can't afford it and you don't have any plans. You just asked me for money. Do you think my wallet is an ATM? Do you think you can take my money whenever you want?"
"Everyone here is our relative. They all know my family situation. We are the poorest among all people in the past. You're all richer than my family."
"Why didn't you help my family back then, Terence Laine?"
Jasper turned away from Terence, whose expression was tainted with anger. He looked around the room and looked at each of his relatives' faces intently. He then continued speaking in a loud and clear voice.
"Half of the people here are my parents, while a third of them are my age. The other one-third is my nephew. We all share the same origin. We're all from the same family."
"I am ashamed to say that I have managed to achieve some recognition and success for our family. However, I will say a few words without shame today."
"Be it relatives or friends, my words to you are the same. I will offer my support to anyone who has a passion, an idea, and is willing to put in a lot of effort. However, anyone who thinks that I am an easy target or believes that I am obligated to give money to everyone now that I am rich, should just keep your efforts."
"That's all I want to say, don't mind me. You can start eating and drinking. Anyway, I'll take care of everything here. If his hospitality is inadequate, it will be my fault. You can scold me as you like. However, if you deliberately come to cause trouble, I will not welcome or serve you."
Back at the main table, Sally Lard patted Charlie Laine. "Wouldn't that have a bad impact on Jasp if he said something like this?" He asked worriedly.
Charlie had a flat and restrained expression on his face. "It won't have a bad impact on him. He just states the facts. I don't think that Jasp said anything wrong. He has my support" he said.
After which, Charlie looked at Jasper with a satisfied look. "I'm old now. Our son is really an adult" he said.
The other relatives looked at each other in silence.
Uncle Jasper glared at Terence and growled impatiently, "Why are you still standing there? Get lost!"
Terence's face reddened in anger as he stared intently at Jasper. He then turned and left.
