Maira squeezed out the wet tip of her toad pants. Then tapped on his shoes, trying to drain the remaining rainwater there. He didn't want the water to wet the hospital floor. After feeling enough, half-running he went into the lobby.
Maira's footsteps lead to the child care room. Many times it almost slipped because his wet shoes made the footprints on the floor become slippery. Right in the treatment room he saw Janu sitting on the floor with his head lowered deeply.
"Mas!"
The man raised his face. For the sake of seeing Maira, he immediately got up. "Alhamdulillah!" yells.
Janu approached Maira. His hands stretched out holding the wet shoulder of his wife. "You're rained on, brother?"
Maira nodded. "I'll change my ojek to arrive quickly, Mas."
"God willing." Janu sighed. The man then pulled Maira's hand, entered the room.
"Suster, are there any supplies of patient clothes? It's Lian's mother already coming but wet in the rain."
"Oh, ready, there, sir. It is better to change immediately so as not to catch a cold. If the condition of the mother's body is not fit, it is also not good if breastfeeding the baby."
The nurse then invited Maira into one of the rooms in the room. After changing into the patient's pajamas, he exited the room. But just opening the door, she saw Janu standing in front of the room while carrying a bottle of eucalyptus oil in hand.
"Wear this first, brother, let it warm!" Then the man led Maira back in.
"Open his pajamas!"
Maira according. He unbuttoned some of the top buttons, and lowered the pajamas down to the waist.
After dripping oil on the palm, Janu flattened it on Maira's back with a quick movement. Unlike usual when he scowled Maira with gentleness, this time he did like he was being chased by something.
"Whose kids are the same?" ask Janu.
"I'm asking Nina to help them, Mas."
Janu sighed. Dabbed Maira's back with eucalyptus oil.
"Quick put the pajamas back on and catch up with Lian!"
Maira obeyed Janu's orders. The woman rushed to button her pajamas and half ran to follow Janu out.
In her nursery, Lian's baby whines weakly in the crib. While Lina's tea tried to persuade her by stroking the baby's head. Maira's heart trembled to see it. Especially when his eyes are pounded on the look of the baby's face that looks pale. The guilt stifles the chest. She hastily lifted Lian from the box and began to suckle her.
"I'm sorry mom, honey," he sighed.
The child was born from the womb of a woman who had sex with her husband. But he could never choose what would exist in this world. Can't choose who's going to be his mother. Then what's wrong with him so it must be ruled out.
Compassion ripples out among the fed-up. The two fought inside a heart that had long since been wounded. Make him sick and bleed again. The woman's tears trickled down Lian's cheeks.
A short time later, Lian fell asleep again. Maira put the baby back in the crib.
"Teh Lina, just go home first. Ask for help tonight to stay at home, let the kids!" Janu's orders.
"Mas, I'm going home tonight. Pity the children at home" said Maira.
"Dik," Janu snorted. Brutally rubbing his head. "You should be here first until Lian's condition improves!"
"But what are the kids at home, Mas?" Maira's starting to get a little inflamed.
"The kids are okay. There was Nina and Lina tea that would accompany them. Hanin can now also be fed formula milk. Or if not, there's still plenty of breast milk in the fridge."
Maira's stunned.
"The kids need me too, Mom!'
"Priority scale, honey. This concerns Lian's health!"
"Hanin and Oza are my real children, Mas!" Maira's voice was rising.
Janu and Lina's tea were aghast at Maira's words. For a moment Janu was speechless.
While Maira threw away her face, avoiding seeing her husband. His hands were clenched, while a clear liquid started hanging in the eyes.
"Sik, you realize you're not talking like that?" hardik Janu's.
The man approached Maira. His hand was about to touch his wife's face. But Maira dismissed it. Then he ran out of the room.
That night Maira did not come home. He accompanied Lian with Janu. But all night the woman preferred to lock her mouth, not to talk to her husband.
"Sir, what is it?" janu asked, trying to persuade Maira for the umpteenth time.
Maira remained silent.
"Come on, brother, now's not the time to snack like this!"
She threw away her face, preferring to look at the wall instead of her husband.
"Dik, look at Lian. Don't you feel sorry for seeing her like that?"
Maira snorts. "Didn't you feel sorry for my suffering and the children's suffering?" tanyanya cynic.
"Astaghfirullah, Brother!"
They both fell silent. Different feelings raged on each other's chests. As a woman Maira is very difficult to put aside feelings. Anger, disappointment, reluctance went from his heart. Janu is more logical in thinking. After all, the child was now their responsibility. Although admitted guilt and regret can never be lost.
Janu then went to the bathroom to get water. The man calmed himself down on the bed. A tucked-away prayer begged him and his wife to be given more sincerity and patience. Her tears flowed as she prostrated herself begging for forgiveness for all the wrongs she had done.
"Sir, you haven't slept?" janu asked while rolling up the prayer mat. He looked at his wife who was lying on the sofa bed.
Maira did not answer. Only her movement tilted towards the wall hinting that the woman had not slept.
Janu then sat on the sofa bed. "If it's just torturing your feelings, we shouldn't have brought the baby. Now is not the time to whine, face all the consequences of what we have decided first!"
The woman rose. He stared at Janu sharply, with his eyes puffy. "You shouldn't have done that, Mom!" said cold. "We should now be happy with you without being haunted by the shadow of your past!"
"Sir, what are you talking about?" Janu's patience is thinning. "Remember, who insists on taking care of what I've done? I never forced you, brother. From the beginning I told you, whatever your decision will always be I'm sitting. Now that this baby is in our hands, you are willing to put your feelings forward without thinking about the baby!"
The woman in front of him looked down. Shoulders snorted withholding cries. Maira answered Janu with tears.
"I was wrong and probably unforgivable. But that's not the way, brother! Let me bear it. Hate me as much as you want, but not that baby!"
Lian piqued with their noisy voices. The baby wakes up and whines. Maira's not moving. He still hung his face shut. Finally Janu who got up to the crib, tried to calm Lian down.
"Please suck on him, sister!" hibanya after a while passed Lian did not want to be silent. "If I have to pay your milk with your hatred for me, it's okay. Hate me as much as you want, but suck him up!"
Maira wiped away the tears. The woman then got up from her seat. Reluctant he stepped closer to Janu and Lian. Without saying a word, she suckled Lian. His eyes looked forward, instead of looking at the baby.
Oh my God, I didn't think any of this would feel so heavy ....
