The journey that almost took two days was clearly making my legs ache. Although it had been graced with dinner from a luxurious inn in a row of vampire cities, my stomach did not feel full at all. In fact, I feel hungry.
"Ah, miss man, anyway. Humans don't understand vampires' taste."
The restaurant owner's sniffling comments made me chuckle. "Vampires have bad taste. Where is this called food?" I pointed at the bread that was baked to a scorch. "It's not wrong that vampires always take human blood. Equally bad."
I kept insulting them, even though I knew the food in front of me was charred not because they weren't very dirty, but because I was human.
Before the servants almost attacked me, I put gold on the dinner table containing food I had not finished. The lowly vampire lowered his head as soon as he saw a large amount of gold.
"Thank you, miss. You will always be welcome here."
The sound of my teeth grinding loudly in my ears. I hope they don't hear it.
The one I just went to was not a special restaurant for snack foods. Honestly, all vampires sell blood as if it were the most delicious drink in the world. This restaurant is the center.
I didn't believe it at first, but the smell of blood on every table convinced me. The vampire kingdom is rotten.
...----------------...
The Ruby Kingdom that was in the center of the city looked majestic with towering bell towers almost piercing the sky. I remembered the castle of man, so fragile and small that it strangely had an unreasonable cold temperature.
"Welcome to Ruby Castle. You yourself..."
One of the fanged guards greeted me. His hair was cut like a white soldier. The manic color is blood. Real vampire.
"Daughter of Barbie, of the Emerald Kingdom." I reached into my bag, carrying a letter of introduction that I had prepared in the days of yesterday. "I'm here on the messenger of the King of Man to marry one of the Vampire Princes."
The guard checked for quite a while until a friendly smile appeared on his lips. "good. You are accepted to enter. Open gate!"
The royal gate was open until it made a super loud wood sound. The carriage horse grimaced, making my saisku somewhat panic. I try not to be impressed or surprised. My fear can be a delicious meal for all of them.
The guard came back to see me again after I dropped off my luggage. "Come, Miss. Let me bring your stuff. The prince must have waited a long time."
I'm not sure of what he said. Mom and Dad said that a noble vampire sleeps in the afternoon. Is such a creature willing to wait for me to leave the habit of his nap?
"Perfect then. Take me inside." I acted as if I knew nothing. This is the best tactic not to be labeled as a stupid creature other than asking.
The waiter held my hand while carrying my suitcase. "Of course, Princess."
......................
Sure enough, the vampire did not sleep during the day. In fact, he was waiting for me in a room similar to a throne with his pose resting on his left hand, as if boredom had been waiting for me for so many years.
"Who are you carrying, Gerald?"
So his name is Gerald. A good name for a vampire who works as a gatekeeper.
"Yes, Your Majesty. This is Princess Barbie of the human kingdom."
I took a step forward to steady my words. "I came here because I said the vampire prince was in need of an empress" I said with all due respect. "Truly disgusting."
The vampire prince rose from his leaning position. "Gerald, it looks like you didn't bring me a girl. He's a comedian."
The one named Gerald looked down respectfully and left us both. Oh, excellent. I'm not afraid of getting killed, I'm afraid of accidentally killing him.
...----------------...
In the past, I didn't really hate vampires. In fact, Gabriel and I consider it a myth. We both rarely meet vampires.
"Uh, the smell of rotten puffs! Does the kingdom have any other itch besides onions?"
I grimaced between the stinging and the smell when mom started applying a cream-colored ointment made from onions. This is all because during the day I continued to play in the small forest belonging to the kingdom, as a result of which the insects were engrossed in sucking the blood of my feet. It was awful to see red nodules appearing on the legs.
"Of course not, baby. Only this drug is effective for relieving the itching caused by your mischief."
I'm running out of patience listening to me who keeps whining. "You should stay home like Gabriel! Lookie! He's younger than you, but books are always read! His knowledge must be wider than yours!"
Gabriel, who was sitting on the sofa beside me just laughed. He was proud to be smarter than me. Yep. In these days I don't like Gabriel very much.
Therefore, the next day, I made a plan to get Gabriel to be scolded. I took him to ditch his ethics lesson and took him into the woods so he would get a little lost.
And my efforts worked a little.
"Sister, we will definitely be scolded by mother... We're too deep into the woods..."
I hurriedly hid behind a bush, waited for her cries and laughed.
"Sister Barbie? Sis..."
One, one,
Two, two,
Three.
And Gabriel was actually crying alone in the middle of the forest.
I immediately planned to get out of the grass bushes and laugh at that moment. Stupidly, I didn't notice the sunlight had started to dissipate, replaced by cloudy clouds.
Mom used to tell me that the sky is overcast vampires are coming.
But who is the child who believes that? I'm not even afraid of mother's advice at all.
Until then, a short white-haired man came from the opposite direction from where we entered. His eyes were as red as fire. And his skin is as pale as snow.
No mistake, it's a vampire!
My brain is unable to think. My mind is in fear.
Gabriel who kept crying was apparently unaware of the presence of vampires in front of him. Sure, the vampire in front of him took it as an advantage, he quietly approached and lightning-fast choked Gabriel's neck until his groaning tormented me.
"Why can there be humans here? Are they having an offering ceremony here?"
I can't move. My legs were trembling and only able to stand in place.
"Then, without hesitation I enjoy it, deh. Happy eating!"
The vampire's canine teeth pierced Gabriel's neck fiercely. Gabriel could once again only groan and ask for help. On the one hand, I was terrified, on the other, I was afraid Gabriel would die from my snickering.
Therefore, with the dagger I kept behind my skirt, I lunged at the vampire and stabbed him in the stomach. His screeching voice stopped with Gabriel's moaning. The vampire is still a dozen years old, I believe his age is not much different from mine, and he was so stupid for not being aware of my arrival.
"So you... You're the one who just hid in the smell of your onions? Damnit damnit! I thought it was the monk who made the offering!"
Blood is pouring out of his left stomach. But I didn't care, I pulled my little dagger back and was about to stab him again.
As fast as lightning, the vampire was already on top of a tree.
"Be careful you're human! I'll be back one day! And when that comes, don't expect you to be alive!"
His white hair fluttered through the darkness of the forest. As if I had finished my nightmare, my heart felt so relieved. Gabriel fell unconscious so I had to bring him into the palace by carrying him.
"Barbie! You're crazy, yeah! Don't you take Gabriel to the woods again!"
Dad scolded me nonstop, and maybe, ever since I hated vampires and dad. Father has always loved Gabriel more than me, to the point that this devil's marriage is also to me.
Doesn't matter. I don't need to be loved. Killing vampires is enough for me.
