Can I Kill You?

Can I Kill You?
Part 12 - Nickname

There was no sound of galloping steps nor was the cry of the feast still beginning. Everything suddenly became silent. The clock was two o'clock in the evening, and as I thought, the cold almost killed me. Mikaela closed the window as if knowing I was starting to shiver.

Now we really live together. A vampire and a human. You can guess who is the hunter and the prey. My eyes, which were about to fall asleep, refocused, preparing for the worst.

Mikaela's hand was like snow in winter, but the surface of her palm was smoother than any silk cloth. Even in comparison, her skin was a thousand times prettier than mine. I didn't realize the sweat was starting to seep into my palms. My breath is starting to get irregular. If he wanted to drink my blood, how would he take it?

My stomach was already nauseous enough without even imagining it. Am I gonna end up bleeding out like people tell me? Am I going to be on the list of women who are victims of vampires?

I slapped my cheek until it turned red. It seems that this made Mikaela surprised. "What are you doing?"

Okay, for now I have to think rationally. Don'tbeafraid.

His eyes glowed again as I brushed his hand away. "Look, if it's analogous... What if someone asks for your hand, then? Are you going to give it away for free?"

Mikaela rolled her eyeballs. "So, again you want something in return, huh?"

My head nodded. "By the way, my ideals kill you. Why should I give you your blood here?" I said, shrugging my shoulders and closing my eyes.

I feel like my words just sounded really cool. Maybe he will keep my word.

Within a few seconds the room became quiet. The silence was broken as he cleaned his lips with his tongue. I closed my eyes and turned the other way. Then, he also let out a voice of laughter that was so crisp.

"It turns out you can't be lied to, can you?" Mikaela laughed so sweetly, like a child who had just bought her favorite doll.

"Yes, yeah. It's all fake. How could a vampire as weak as that face a single attack of his friend?"

"Huh?" Automatic my lips are propping up.

"Huh?" His mouth went off, followed by me turning my face away.

"It's nothing" I replied calmly.

So from then on it was just acting? How far? He was really tortured before. Even standing up seems to kill him. Now it's... He is one hundred percent healthy.

Seeing me panic with myself, Mikaela put her hand under her chin. "What's? You think I'm a real kesakita-"

A pillow floated right into his head, unfortunately he managed to avoid it casually.

"Ah, I forgot. I should've just given you rotten snake meat here! That way you won't suffer!"

"Oh, very clever this woman, her thinking is as big as a baby," Mikaela replied with praise. "As a reward, what if your meal tomorrow is a roasted rat? I'll make sure your intelligence goes up."

I just wanted to throw everything around me. Given the effects that were not very good, I chose to look at myself. I don't know why my gut feeling was bad all of a sudden.

I touched the entire surface of my body, the pain began to burn slowly every layer of my skin. My eyes began to squint in pain. I started touching the nape of my neck and finally realized what I was missing.

My locket!

As if reading my mind, Mikaela started talking again. "You looking for this?" tanyanya while taking out my lighted blue necklace.

Its luster that was as blue as the sea bathed in moonlight made my emotions peak. My hand quickly moved automatically to grab it, but the pain in my chest crumpled back. I immediately grimaced in pain.

"Ke... Restore it!" I screamed with an irregular breath.

Mikaela replied by sticking out her tongue. His arm was raised as I tried to grab back the pendant he was carrying. "Ih, it's delicious. Take care of your situation. Look, you're still shaking just to sit."

My heart felt like it was being hit by a rock when he would not give back the locket. Even so, his words were right. I'm the prey here. And a prey must obey its hunter for the sake of a little life that may be of no meaning to the hunter.

Mikaela looked sad. "Well, don't put on a scary face like that. One day I'll give it back."

Mikaela smiled broadly. "Then what if this is? If you become a good boy by my side, I'll give it back. But if you make a troublemaker..." His hands show a strong grip. "Know I mean, right?"

I don't agree. I never agreed. But, if the bet is that necklace, I... I have to agree.

"Good boy. Tonight I will not ask for your blood. But in exchange, you have to obey my orders, okay?"

"Okay," I replied flatly.

"What if we start with a nickname? Barbie doesn't seem good enough for the vampire prince's companion's name." he proposed randomly. I was too dizzy just to look at her so I didn't answer. "Right, how about a pig?"

"You're crazy." My head is in pain.

Mikaela gripped my necklace again in front of her. I answered quickly. "Yourself."

"Well, so, dong. From now on your name is a pig." Damn, the joke isn't funny at all. "How about you think of a good name for me too?"

I was silent for a long time thinking of an ugly name for her. Neither did the ugly name appear. Finally, after determining from the dozens of names of human friends I had known and considered at least good, a female name appeared in my head.

"Ella."

Mikaela's eyebrows are fringed. "Huh? Can you repeat my cool name?"

"Say Ella."

"Name like a girl. Replace."

"I can't think of any other name."

After thinking for a long time, Mikaela thought the name was good. "Girla, ella. Well, it's not bad, it's just too feminine but it doesn't matter. Well, forget me again if the pig—I mean, this pig is human."

On the count of five, I was sure my consciousness would disappear. I was about to drift into Nirvana.

Looking at me who was trying so hard to open my eyes, Mikaela let out a long breath. "Yes, sleep for the night. There's still a lot I'll take care of. Good night, Ba---"

Whether it was Barbie or the pig she spoke, I was already immersed in a state of sleep beyond my will. My pain disappeared as the dream went on, and for a long time, my dream turned into a beautiful sleeping flower that I had never experienced at the age of 16.

Before dawn, I woke up in my room. There's no one inside. A flash of thought popped into my head to breathe in the wind outside. So I took a coat to cover my face and changed into just trousers and a top, I slid down afterwards.

Succeeding through the various passageways, I continued to sneak several times behind the tall pole to hide from the servants. My struggle finally felt after I reached the front entrance. When the giant door was still wide open, I sped up my steps without anyone realizing it.

Immediately the wind blew as I looked for a place to sit on the grassland. I hurried to pull the coat back. My left and right side are safe. I breathe a sigh of relief. Being alone in the prairie was like tasting a private paradise.

"Hey, what are you doing here?"

The sound surprised me more than anything. It came from behind. I glanced, and a beautiful young man smiled at me.

"Barbie?"

He walked closer and I nodded backwards. His golden mane fluttered among the darkness that was about to reach dawn. Her blue eyes were as gentle as fading space, reminding me of the beautiful eyes of Gabriel who was always adored. It seems he's getting excited knowing I'm going to stay away from him.

"Mikaela's not really good at taking care of her fiance, is she?" he said, and he continued to step until his lips almost stuck to my ears. I almost froze.

"Forget it about her, how about you just marry me?"
