Can I Kill You?

Can I Kill You?
Part 20 - Three Persons

Spending time outside Ruby castle gave birth to a strange impression on myself. It was like coming back to my old self. Waves of emotion raged in my head. Both bad memories and good memories begin to spin automatically, as smooth as the flow of springs that continue to pour. I was sure that my feelings had become more sentimental.

My tears wanted to come out many times. My fear spreads like a twisting thorn.

Why should this feeling go back now?

There is only one thing I can be thankful for in all these strange occurrences: I am free from the vat that smells for mercy.

As soon as I woke up, I was already in the middle of the roaring wind whispers and the sound of the waves striking. The three men were sitting on a wood that looked like it had been cut rough, talking about something not too obvious I heard—or maybe I shouldn't have heard, I don't know. I only knew that my hands and feet were still tightly tied to the annoying rope.

The smell of burnt meat floated in the air, almost my stomach almost sang of hunger. My eyes opened again and they were fish as big as three fists that were pierced and burned in the middle of the fire. My mouth feels muddy. My head is dizzy again.

I don't think now is the right time to wake up.

When I woke up again, I already felt like a sleeping princess considering my recent activities stuck between fighting and sleeping.

My eyes found a large empty space with a wooden fireplace on the left. These straw-studded roofs above me remind me of the wooden houses the kids built to hide in. Even so, the size is too big for just a place to hide. The spider's web had already spread at some point, probably due to being left out for too long. The smell of dust stabbed me many times, making me cough a few times.

Wait, I.. can you cough? Or, more precisely, can it sound?

I tried again, this time unintentionally with a violent voice. "GOD!"

Waw. Greatable. Welcome back my voice.

I stretched my body, trying to relax after noticing that the stink cords were not tying me anymore. Even so, my dress already smelled of terrible wine, making my stomach shake. Free of charge I flicked it many times, the liquid fell onto the wooden floor which made things worse.

Okay. Now it's time to run away or not at all—

"You're silly, huh?!" My feet stopped stepping hearing that voice. Of course, they would definitely take care of me like guarding a diamond that was kept in a museum. What naive thoughts do I have that I can think of tricking them?

If I'm right, that's what Elfa said. That annoying screech was never erased from that special place in my head. The origin was heard from the next room which was illuminated by petromax lights. I put my foot closer. "You've taken a woman all the way just to bring her to sleep? Listen, yeah. Stupid has limits too."

The room was as empty as the space I had occupied before, only this time it was filled with some ornaments such as shields and bull horns and human-sized elephant fangs. Some paintings are painted in one family. Several people lined up, the seemingly four-headed mother, Elfa, the pinched hair, a white-moustached father with a body as strong as a bull, and a thin-faced man with reddish hair.

...What was that person that big brother meant by them?

"Calm down, El." said the pigtailed man. His forehead creased, showing displeasure. "I understand you want to hurry, but we don't even know the kid's ability yet."

"That's why I told you—" Elfa's eyes met with me, only to realize my presence in their odd conversation.

Their cold emerald nectar sharpened straight at me. What should have come out of me was the same feeling that the vampires were looking at me congregating at yesterday's crazy vampire party. But what is this feeling? The fear of being preyed upon ambushed me little by little, making me want to escape from this place.

Okay, just try to calm down and relax. Look at what's in front of you, Barbie.

"Are you all werewolves?"

It's a silly question, but it's funny I hope they answer me seriously.

A conclusion reached by the hair. "Your magic's dead, Brooke?"

“Not him before you called him, Boss?” Silent. Elfa didn't answer my question.

Okay, great. They ignored my question. I'm a fucking moron. Like asking a thief if they are really thieves.

But, really. I actually remember if werewolves had emerald green eyes like theirs. And if they were vampires... There's no way they're taking me to a place like this, is there? A place that is really remote and does not have human air is certainly not going to be chosen by anyone who has a sane mind. Except the famous werewolves have high endurance.

Brooke, the first man to ambush me, turned his eyes the other way, seemingly not wanting to be caught if he had done something that could help me a little. "I did turn it off on purpose."

Elfa looked at Brooke as if she had been betrayed. "Do you feel sorry for a creature like this?"

Brooke raised his body and stood up, thrusting his sharp cold eyes at Elfa who was about to complain again. "We need to treat him well. Isn't the condition as a gift your brother is a whole and mentally healthy human being?"

Elfa was ready with her mouth open for an argument, but suddenly appeared weakened and lowered her head, her red hair exposed to the petromax light covering part of her eyes and making her dim. A strange feeling arose, his glare being glimpsed at me implying a hunk of hatred.

"Whatever."

With a hasty step and a head lowered, he pushed the chest of Brooke's field and passed me just like that, like passing an opponent who had defeated him many times. A little I felt his muscular arms nudging my arms and almost making me fall. What the hell does he want?!

I feel sentimental again.

Brooke sat back and crossed his legs on the floor covered in a rug with motifs I had never seen. "Sleep, Barbie. Tomorrow we have to wake up again in the morning" said Brooke Lirih.

Somehow the speech sounds like the chirping of a bird. I raised my eyebrows and sat down with them. "You haven't talked about why you kidnapped me."

"Huh? What for! Of course we'll sell you!" squealing the hair fast, made me seriously offended. “Basic fucking creature! I'll sell you first!”

“What did you say?!”

I was scared, but my mouth couldn't stop talking even though it was shaking. “Me-against an enemy like you is just like fighting an elementary school kid, you know!”

“Stop you two!” Brooke cut in a flat but piercing voice. We both immediately nodded.

“I'll tell you everything tomorrow, about everything you want to know. So, I hope you'll wait.”
