Nothing binds me to sleep. Goody.
Even though Brooke said he would explain everything tomorrow, I couldn't sleep at all. Yeah, that's obvious. Who can fall asleep when they know they have been kidnapped?
It might be a good opportunity to get out of this place. There is no better time than now.
Instantly, the fishy smell of the ocean waves suddenly came over, piercing my nose. I got back up from the carpet without a motive, ran outside the hut, almost intent on spewing something out of my mouth but it didn't.
I've never smelled the sea. I could have died from mostly vomiting like this.
The sky was still dark and only accompanied by the glitter of stars that slightly adorned the void of the sky. I've never seen the sky as big as it is now. This scene was a little comforting to my feelings.
Wait, we should all be on the edge of the dock... Why is there no trace of anyone here at all? Even I did not see any more huts before a thick line of tall trees closed my eyes...
Eits, it's not time I think about this, I have to find a way out—
The thoughts I kept hiding suddenly just spilled out.
Do I really have to go back there?
It feels better here than having to deal with vampires.
I can also start a new life with a small job here.
Ears buzzing. It's not time to worry here. No one knows what they would do to my family if I refused to go back.
Unfortunately, outside I even met the back of Elfa facing the sea while propping up her chin. Again he sat on the nearly dried wood, accompanied by several sheathed swords.
I really don't like it. In fact, maybe my feelings of hate outweigh my hatred for vampires. Not that I felt they were better, it was just that Elfa felt to have an aura similar to theirs...
The aura of a liar.
"What are you doing here?" My hair stands. Suddenly his cold voice came back flat.
Barbarically. There is no other way but to answer. "none. Just looking for the wind."
"You're not sick of being here?" Ask again with a back that still rejects my existence.
"Where do you know that?"
His tone suddenly increased. "Everybody who comes here always feels the same way. Nausea, nausea."
"Is it time to confide?" I said so slowly. I didn't even realize those words were coming out smoothly from my mouth. Fortunately, Elfa did not answer me.
His back still seemed to be alone. Ah, I want to run away. I feel like his emotions are going to explode any minute.
After standing up, Elfa sheathed her sword on her still shiny belt. His face that was illuminated by the moonlight seemed so lonely. So different from her that was this afternoon.
I feel a little bit sympathetic.
"You don't ask why that is?"
"Why?"
His emerald eyes blinked at me. "It's all because of my brother's curse."
There was a long pause as he said the sentence. I thought she would still be revealing information about her brother, but she wasn't. Her lips are too dry to tell me.
"Oh. Emm, can I ask you why?"
"Alright, thanks. I'm glad you didn't tie me up and give me that weird magic again" I said to end this dry talk.
My throat was dry, but I managed to say this word. "Good night."
There's no answer. Okay.
I immediately opened the door of the cottage and again tried to fall asleep on the carpet that was quite cold. The smell of the sea still makes me nauseous, but being inside the cottage feels better to me. Yes, it is better than having to listen to the outpouring of a man who wants to cry alone.
...****************...
My morning was greeted with the aroma of spiced grilled fish, able to awaken anyone from sleep. My stomach hasn't eaten since last night, and somehow I can't help it at all.
In the front room, everyone bites their food. Piles of fish were piled on giant plates placed on wooden tables. I don't like the way they arrange it, but my drool can't be held back.
"Look! This one human seems to have starved once! It's laughable!"
I began to wonder if there was still intelligence left on the head of the haircut.
Brooke who seems to have been familiar with the existence of humans only answered briefly. "Eat. You haven't eaten since yesterday, have you?"
I just want to laugh. I've never met a kidnapper who even offered his victims to eat together in the same room. I asked again, "Can you?"
Brooke nodded as he picked up the fish once more and gulped down some water.
Without hesitation, I took one fish that had been baked. The smell mixed with charcoal and unfamiliar leaves was very appetizing. I've never eaten anything like this.
"Eat it, there's no poison" said Elfa, who had licked her fingers, thinking I was suspicious of the food they gave her. "And Charlie, please cooperate. Don't do anything weird in front of you."
Charlie the haircut growled. "I know that."
"You're gonna take me to your sister after this?"
"You guys?" charlie denounced. It seemed that her already filled stomach made her interested in my words. "No-no. It's just Elfa's sister. The three of us were just childhood friends and happened to know her brother."
That explains why his face was so lonely last night. It seemed like only his heart felt lonely as well as guilty for dragging his friends.
Alright. Time to wait for Brooke's answer.
"I promised I'd explain everything to you, but it looks like someone has already explained a piece of information to you." Brooke's emerald eyes snatched Elfa a glance. "We need your healing powers. Crystal has a disease we've never known before."
Brooke gulped down the water once more and continued.
"The disease caused all of us to evacuate, because Crystal had brought a curse along with the disease, and that's why—"
"Wait, you guys brought me here to heal your brother, didn't you? Listen, yeah. I don't have that ability! I can only use a dagger and fight, such a thing, of course..."
"No. You can." replied Brooke mantab. "We'll prove your point after this."
...****************...
The bottomless cave, they call it. Brother Elfa was put to sleep here to keep him away from the worse effects for the island. Her brother's curse was so bad for some people, that their village chief decided to move... And this kidnapped me, asked to do their almost impossible wish.
On the sidelines, her brother lay among the candles lined up. Blue crystals almost filled his thin body. His hair was white, almost as white as his skin.
Wait for.
"You guys.. vampires?"
