SCARLETT (Kiss From The Darkness)

SCARLETT (Kiss From The Darkness)
Chapter 33

I stepped towards the front door of my house to meet the herd of werewolves that were still howling in my yard.

Roland and Damon were walking by my side. I opened the front door and was greeted by the sight of a swarm of raging werewolves shaking the front fence of my house.

My iron fence was swaying almost collapsing. I stood looking at that sight. I felt Roland and Damon stiffen by my side.

"Calm down!" I screamed towards them.

Hearing my screaming voice, they instantly fell silent. A few seconds later, they became human. I saw the man who was talking to Leda.

At that time there were at least ten people standing in front of the fence of my house. The man with the largest body looked at me.

"I know you're worried about Leda." I said it in a loud voice.

"We sense that our Alpha is in danger." The big man answered equally.

The rest of the herd stood still in a standby position as if they were ready to fight to save the Alpha.

"It all happened because of you!" The big man shouted.

I grit my jaw at his accusation. The werewolf pack blamed me for what happened to their Alpha.

Maybe this is all my fault.

"I'll save Leda!" I screamed at him.

"We're gonna save our Alpha!" They scream in unison.

I shuddered at the sound of their screams.

"I promise I'll bring Leda home safely." I said it solemnly and in a loud voice.

"If something bad happens to our Alpha, we'll kill you!" This time the big man threatened me with a loud voice.

"You know that I'll never let Leda get hurt." I said it slowly.

This time I walked closer towards the werewolf herd. I opened the fence because I wanted to speak more seriously to the big man who might be the alpha representative for the herd.

I stood right in front of the big man.

"I promised I'd protect Leda." I said it while looking into his eyes.

"I'll come with you." He said it with determination.

I shook my head at him.

"I don't want to bring you into danger" I said softly.

"I'm willing to sacrifice my life for the Alpha." This time he said it in a firm and loud voice.

"No, let me go to the palace of the Dark God. I promise I'll bring Leda home safely." I said it firmly.

I don't want to take the herd members to the Dark God's palace. I don't want to risk their lives. It's been enough all along that the people closest to me have been hurt because of me. This time I don't want anyone else to get hurt because of me.

"If you can't bring her home safely ... " The man's words were hanging in the air threateningly.

"You may take my life" I whispered to him.

The two of us stared at each other intently as if we had agreed on a covenant that had been bound.

Yes, I will risk my life to save Leda as she will also risk her life for my sake.

Hearing my words, the big man turned to face the other herd. They nodded as if agreeing to our agreement.

The man turned towards me.

"I'm Aldrin" he said as he extended his hand towards me.

I shook his hand and we nodded at the sign of agreement.

"So, when are you leaving?" Ask Aldrin to me.

"In a moment" I replied.

He nodded towards me.

"No" I said, shaking my head.

"Why did the Dark God's Sag bring Leda?" This time her voice became softer than before.

"Because he's waiting for me" I said slowly.

"What does he want?" This time he asked while twitching his forehead.

"He wants me to stay with him." I said it with a trembling voice.

He gasped at my answer. This time his face turned concerned.

I took a long breath.

"Then be careful. If you need help, just call us." He said it while nodding towards me and then towards the werewolf herd.

They all nodded towards us. I smiled towards them.

"Then I'll be leaving soon." I said it while looking at Roland and Damon.

They both nodded towards me. I turned back to Aldrin.

"Be careful!" abugn.

I'm nodding.

I turned around to go to my house but Aldrin called out to me. I turned back towards him.

Aldrin grabbed something into his pants pocket. I saw him pull out a small trumpet made of deer antlers. He handed the trumpet to me.

"Here, take it with you. Blow this trumpet if you need our help, then we'll come to you!" He said it while handing the trumpet to me.

I stared at the trumpet and then at him. I am overwhelmed by what he does. I know that it's a very valuable thing for a werewolf herd.

"No, it's too precious" I said softly.

"Take it, I trust you like Leda trusts you." He gave it to me.

I accepted the gift with teary eyes.

"Thank you" I said in a choked tone.

He nodded towards me then towards Roland and Damon.

"We'll take care of your house as long as you're gone" he added.

I nodded and felt moved by his actions. This time I've earned the werewolf's trust.

"Thank you, I'll bring Leda back soon." I promised them.

I told Aldrin to bring another werewolf to my house. But he refused. He said he would rather keep the house out of the yard. I agreed to his request.

I said goodbye to him and turned around as I walked into the house. Roland and Damon were walking behind me.

Arriving in the living room, I sat down on the sofa and told the two of them to sit near me.

"Look, what we're going to face is the Dark God." I said it with a tense face.

I saw Roland and Damon put on a firm face.

"If anything happens to me, promise to bring Leda and Erick home safely." This time my voice was broken.

I realized that my opponent this time was not an easy one. Bad things can happen. But I promised to save Leda and Erick even if I had to risk my own life.

I looked into Roland's eyes.

"I'll take you home with me," Roland said confidently.

I saw her eyes full of love. I looked at her and wished Roland could understand that I really loved her. But what if things go badly? I blinked my eyes and dismissed those bad thoughts.

The three of us were silent for a few moments as if weighing the situation we were about to face.

"We must have gone home safely" Damon said breaking the silence between the three of us.
