The loss of Mr. Grace has left a scar on the hearts of the beggar's group of children. They feel the loss of their own family members, and the grief still haunts them. However, they also know that they must continue on their journey and continue to live life on the streets.
A few weeks after Mr. Grace's death, summer turned into autumn. The leaves of the tree change color to yellow and red, creating a beautiful view in the city parks they visit. However, with the change of seasons, comes a new challenge.
One day, while they were playing music in a crowded city park, the sky suddenly darkened. A strong wind started blowing, and black clouds gathered in the sky. They knew that a storm was coming.
Irfan said, "We should immediately find shelter before it rains."
They ran in search of shelter, but heavy rain had already started to fall before they found a safe place. They hid under a big tree in the city park, but still they were drenched in the continuous rain.
Dian looked at the dark sky and said, "It's a pretty strong storm. We have to try to survive."
As the rain grew heavier, they all braced themselves to maintain the warmth of their bodies. However, they knew that they could not be fully protected from this storm.
As they sat under the tree, they saw an old woman standing in the rain, drenched, and looking very weak. The woman had no shelter and looked desperate for help.
Without hesitation, the group of beggars' children rose up. They ran up to the woman and offered to help. Irfan gave her coat to the woman to protect her from the rain, while others tried to find shelter.
Maya said, "Follow us. We'll take you somewhere safe."
They helped the woman walk slowly to an abandoned old building near the city park. The building was no longer used and abandoned, but at least it was a shelter from the rain.
On arrival inside the building, the woman sat on the dirty floor and cried. Irfan handed her a piece of cloth she found to dry the woman's wet hair, while others tried to find food or drink for her.
The woman finally spoke, "Thank you, kids. I was a homeless man. I lost my home and my family a few years ago. Life on the streets is hard."
Rizal sat down near the woman and said softly, "We are also street children. We know how hard it is to live like this."
The woman smiled gently. "You are my angel of help. I don't know what would happen if there weren't any of you."
As the storm continued outside, they sat together in warmth. They shared stories about their struggles on the streets, about the loss they experienced, and about the empathy they had for each other.
The rain finally subsided, and they helped the woman leave the abandoned old building. They gave her the food and money they had, but more importantly, they provided warmth and friendship.
As they walked out of the building together, the woman said, "Thank you again, children. You have reminded me that in this world, there is still kindness and empathy."
They parted with the woman with a happy heart. Although they themselves still live in uncertainty, they know that they have the power to provide hope and warmth to others in need.
They walked back to where they used to camp in the city park, and although they were drenched and full of mud, they were satisfied. They have weathered this storm of life together, and they know that the power of empathy and friendship will always carry them through any conflicts and challenges that may come their way.
Autumn passed, and groups of beggars continued to roam the streets of the city. They have learned to face the challenges of life with courage and empathy, but time goes on, no matter how hard they try.
One morning, as they were gathering near a cafe for breakfast, Rizal said, "We all know that living on the streets is never easy. But we have also learned that we have each other to sustain. However, what will we do if we get older and can no longer live like this?"
Irfan, who has always been a thinker in the group, said, "We can find a more stable job, but for that we need to have a place to live and a legitimate identity. But, how is it?"
Dian looked at them with glowing eyes. "Maybe we could seek help from organizations or agencies that help the homeless. They might be able to give us a temporary place to live and help us start a new life."
Rizal added, "We also need to have skills or jobs that we can rely on. Maybe we can find training or a temporary job that pays enough for us to survive."
They all agree that a plan for the future is important. However, they also know that those steps will not be easy to take. They have lived on the streets for so long that they feel like part of the world itself.
A few weeks passed, and they started looking for information about organizations or agencies that could help them. They are also looking for training or temporary work that they can take part in.
One day, while they were sitting in a city park, an old man approached them. The man looked like a beggar who had lived on the streets longer than them.
The man said, "I heard you were looking for help to leave the streets. I am part of an organization that can help you. We have temporary residences and training programs to help you start a new life."
The group of beggar children felt a jumble between happiness and fear. They know that this is the step they want, but it also means leaving the life that is already a part of them.
The old man continued, "You guys have learned so much about empathy and friendship on this journey. But, remember that having a stable place to live and work will give you the opportunity to help others in a different way."
They agreed to follow the old man to the place he mentioned. There, they meet kind-hearted people who give them temporary shelter and start training programs.
The days turn into weeks, and the weeks turn into months. The beggar's group of children learned many new things, from the skills of various occupations to the way of life in a larger community.
One day, while they were sitting in their temporary yard, they saw a drunk young man fighting with a homeless woman on the street. The young man was rude and started hitting the woman.
That group of beggars could not just sit still. They ran out and tried to separate the young man from the woman. The physical conflict continued, and Rizal fell down while trying to grab the young man's arm.
The other three of them tried to face the young man, and by coming together, they finally managed to stop the fight. The young man left angrily, and the woman looked extremely hurt.
Maya cries as she approaches the woman. "I'm sorry, we just want to help."
The woman looked at them with eyes filled with emotion. "Thank you for saving my life. No one has ever dared to stand up for me before."
Dian said, "We've learned about empathy and friendship all this time, and we can't just stand still when someone is hurt."
The woman smiled sincerely. "You are good people. May your new life bring happiness and success."
They embrace the woman and return to their temporary yard. They know that the struggle will never stop, but they also know that they have each other, empathy, and determination to live a better life.
And under the vast sky, they together face an uncertain future, but they are convinced that with love, empathy, and determination, they will always find their way.
