The Story of the Little Beggar

The Story of the Little Beggar
His Death, Mr. Grace

The days passed peacefully for the group of beggars under the light of the stars. They continue to share stories, music, and empathy with each other. Sarah, the homeless woman they met, has become a loyal friend, and they feel happy to be able to support each other in this harsh world.

One night, while they were camping by the river as usual, they heard footsteps approaching from a distance. As the steps drew closer, they saw a group of drunk and troubled-looking young men approaching them. They look rude and intend to interrupt.

Aryan, who had always been the leader of the group, spoke calmly to the young men. "Hello, what can we do for you?"

The young men laughed loudly and one of them, a big-bodied young man with a tattoo on his arm, said in a condescending tone, "We want to have fun, we want to have fun, and we thought you guys could be our entertainment."

Sarah felt anxious and close herself to her friends. Irfan stood between the young men and his group of beggars, trying to keep his distance. "Nothing to deal with here. We just want to calm down and play music."

However, the big-bodied young man was increasingly provocative. He approached and tried to grab Dian's little violin. Dian quickly pulled the violin away and said firmly, "Don't touch our instrument."

The youths grew more aggressive, and the atmosphere became tense. They tried to pull Aryan off the guitar he was playing, but Aryan refused loudly. It was the only treasure they had.

Sarah was frightened and said to them, "We don't want any trouble. Please go."

However, the big-bodied young man just laughed out loud. "We're not finished here yet."

The situation grew increasingly heated, and the group of beggars felt threatened. They knew that they could not face the young men physically, and they did not want to engage in violence. But they also do not want to give up their musical instruments that they have been hard-earned.

As the situation grew chaotic, a young man from the group suddenly pulled the big-bodied young man away. This young man seemed more sane and wiser. He spoke loudly to the young man. "Enough! We don't need to have any problems with them. Let's go."

The big-bodied young man finally complied and along with his friends left boisterously. The group of beggar children breathed a sigh of relief, but also felt angry and troubled by the incident.

After the young men left, Sarah softly said, "Thank you for your protection. You guys are amazing friends."

Irfan nodded. "We're always gonna protect each other."

That night, they slept with heavy hearts. They know that the world can sometimes be cruel, and they must always be vigilant. Sarah feels safe among this group, and she feels grateful to have found friends who are ready to protect her.

The next morning, they woke up with a new spirit. They gathered under the bright morning sun, and Aryan said, "We won't let last night's incident stop us. We'll continue to play music and share empathy with people."

Maya added, "We will also keep each other. Together, we are an unstoppable force."

Beggar groups of children have gone through many struggles, conflicts, and moments of empathy on their journey. They have survived together and grown as individuals and as a group. However, life continues to bring challenges, and this time they have to face it with a heavy heart.

A few weeks after the incident with the drunken young man, the group arrived in a busy big city. They had gone through some temporary work and raised enough money to rent a small apartment in the suburbs. They are thrilled to have a permanent home after months of camping under the open sky.

However, on a clear morning, as they were preparing to leave for work, they heard the news that shook their hearts. A news story about a tragic accident that happened last night on one of the city streets. The accident involved an old beggar known to many beggars in the city.

Maya reads the news in the newspaper she found in their apartment. "This is about Mr. Grace, the beggar we often meet in the city park. He was hit by a car last night and died at the scene."

There were sobs from Dian, who always had an empathetic heart towards her fellow beggars. "Oh, no! Mr. Grace is a good man. He always shared his stories and food with us."

Irfan looked at his group with misty eyes. "We have to go to the scene and see what we can do. We might be able to help raise money for the funeral or provide support to Mr. Grace's friends."

They were headed to the accident scene. There, they saw a crowd of grieving people and some other beggars standing there with misty eyes. They felt as if they had lost a member of their family.

They approached some beggars sitting by the roadside, their faces filled with sadness. One of them, an old beggar named Mbah Surya, said in a trembling voice, "Sir Mercy is the friend of all of us. He always shares what he has with us, even when he himself doesn't have much."

The beggar boy group felt a deep sadness. They decided to raise money to help the funeral of Mr. Grace. They played music in the city park and asked for donations from people passing by them. Many people stop and make sincere contributions.

As they collect money, they also listen to stories about Mr. Grace. They hear that she once had a happy family, but later experiences a deep loss and bad finances that make her a beggar. However, despite the hardships she had experienced, she was always smiling and willing to share.

As the sun began to sink in the sky, they collected a large amount of money to help the funeral of Mr. Grace. They gave the money to an older beggar who knew him well.

The older beggar cried when he received the money. "Thank you, young man. Mr. Grace would be happy to know that he has friends like you who care."

After the funeral, the group of beggars returned to their apartment with heavy hearts. They sat together in the living room, and the atmosphere of the room felt lonely. They felt deep sorrow over the loss of Mr. Grace, and they pondered about the harsh and unexpected life.

Rizal finally said softly, "We have learned so much about empathy on this journey. We know that life can be very difficult, but we also know that we have each other to sustain."

Maya added, "We will continue to share stories, music and empathy with the people we meet along this journey. That's what we can do to honor Mr. Grace and all the other beggars."

They sit together in silence, pondering about the true meaning of empathy and friendship in the face of adversity. The tragic accident may have brought sadness, but it has also strengthened their resolve to continue sharing compassion and empathy for fellow humans in this sometimes very harsh world.
