CHAPTER 40 - THE PECULIARITY

Denzu who was still limping was trying to attend the meeting in the hall.

Merlin whispered to one of the men nearby, asking who the woman was.

The man beside Merlin explained that the woman and her brother were being chased by robbers and lost their way into the fortress.

The woman asked for help to be escorted to her city around the Riguaria kingdom tomorrow morning.

At first the General refused to accept guests staying at the fort but the woman begged the General and his friends to be given a place overnight so that they could spend the night there.

Finally the General allowed the woman and her brother to stay overnight in the fort on certain conditions, including confiscating their weapons.

And the General explained that yesterday there was a war until the building in the fort was a bit messy because if the woman was not pleased they could both spend the night elsewhere, but the woman did not mind the condition and still wanted to spend the night in the fort.

After the woman named Elya and his brother were escorted to the guest room, everyone in the hall ordered the General to be careful and vigilant with his foreign guest, and ask everyone not to tell anything about the diamond mining area.

All agree.

The night has widened….

The general in his room, illuminated only by three candles, fell asleep with a blanket covering half of his body.

Suddenly he woke up and gasped in shock at the presence of Elya who was already beside him, but he had not had time to do anything about the woman sticking her palm into the General's face and blowing something.

The fine powder that the woman was blowing was scattered around the General's face.

The general became very sleepy and went back to sleep.

Morning opening the sheet, the cock crowed the cue to return to the initial activity.

Elya came out of his room, smiling and greeting some people that morning, including Merlin who was busy carrying a cup filled with groceries.

“ Good morning miss?..What is your name? ” greet Elya to Merlin.

“ Good morning madam, I'm Merlin” said Merlin with a forced smile.

When it was time for breakfast, the atmosphere was a bit different, which was usually noisy and rowdy, the men scrambled for food or chatted loudly, but that morning the whole team was like ‘ obedient children’, he said, silence just ate their breakfast regularly.

Merlin seemed to realize there was something strange about them.

Then the General came and joined them, but the General did not see Merlin at all let alone greet him, he immediately sat down next to Elya and had a fight with him.

Merlin frowned looking at the general's behavior, he turned to his side, Ziggo who was enjoying his breakfast was reprimanded by Merlin.

“ Mr Ziggo, did you see anything strange with the General?” Merlin asked while whispering.

“ Weird?.nothing strange. I think everything is normal” Ziggo answered with his leisure.

Merlin swallows annoyance, ‘ What he can't see changes to General ‘ inner Merlin.

The day is getting higher.

The general, Elya, his brother, and some men were in the diamond-making room.

Merlin who accidentally saw the presence of the woman and the others in the diamond making room was astonished by the freedom of the woman to explore the entire fortress.

Merlin stepped into the room, he approached the General and pulled his arm.

“ Sorry madam, can I talk to the General for a minute?” merlin looked a little furious.

Elya with a smile full of mystery nodded.

In a place a little far from Elya Merlin whispered a little to the General.

“ Sir, why did you let that woman into this place? Isn't that dangerous?”

“ Dangerous? What do you mean Merlin, he just wants to take a look, stop it.” The general let go of Merlin's hand on his arm.

“ Wait sir..What happened to you? “ Merlin little hard talking.

“ Already Merlin, you better just go back to the kitchen “ General turned back and returned to where Elya stood.

Merlin who witnessed it was absolutely certain, that man was not the General he knew.

Two days passed, the woman was still in the fortress, missing the agreed agreement.

In the morning, Merlin again found something strange.

He finds the General giving Elya precious diamonds, pink diamonds in the jewelry storage room, the door of the room slightly opens making Merlin see all the events.

What Merlin knew, the room was very secret, for the residents of the fort who had no interest were not allowed to enter, especially for foreigners, but there the General easily gave the very expensive diamond to the woman he just knew.

When Merlin wanted to reprimand the General, suddenly the Dude approached him.

“ Miss, General asked you to cook deer ribs and good food.” Dude took Merlin a bit forcibly towards the kitchen.

“ But sir..., did you not see that? The general gave the pink diamond to the woman?!. Does it make sense?” Merlin tries to rebel and wants to go back to the General,

“ Already miss, let the General accompany and make the woman happy.” Merlin was increasingly confused by the state of the castle's inhabitants back then,

That afternoon, the General planned to show Elya a diamond mining site.

He ordered some men to stop digging, because the woman would look around inside the diamond mine.

Merlin heard the information from the conversation of two men who were standing in front of the hall door.

Merlin wanted to immediately meet the General and prevent him, he had ordered two Elders who he immediately called to guard the mining door.

Merlin ran towards the diamond mining site, but there was already a General, Elya, Gardden, and some men who did not seem to be preventing the General, but they instead let the woman enter the mining area.
