The Retaliation of the CEO's Wife and the Idol
CHAPTER 23: I WILL PROTECT YOU

Iko rubbed Ega's body which was still shivering with coldness with heart. The man hand deftly entered the password to open the door of his apartment, then he invited Ega to come in. The bodies of the two friends were still soaked until water droplets also wet the floor of Iko's apartment.

“Wait here, I'll get you a towel,” Iko said as she hurriedly left Ega standing there. After a while, the man returned with a towel in his hand and then cupped it on Ega's body that was still shaking.

“Cleanse yourself, I have prepared everything,” said the man while hinting Ega to immediately clean himself. The woman stepped into the bathroom almost without any energy. His eyes were blank, his sobs were still a little left.

A while after that, Ega came out of the bathroom dressed in a long sleeve sweatshirt, which was none other than Iko's. The woman walks over gently rubbing her wet hair with a towel. Iko who had been waiting for Ega while laying down her body on the sofa, was immediately amazed to find Ega in such a state. Beautiful, but the look of sadness swallowed everything.  Watching that, the idol who had prepared a cup of tea for Ega immediately invited the woman to sit down.

“Drink to make your body feel warmer,” bargain Iko while thrusting a glass of tea on the woman. Ega still didn't say a word. There was no hope of life left on his face. The woman tried to sip the warm tea Iko gave, but the drink seemed to stop in the esophagus. Her tears were breaking again, now almost without a sound. Iko grabbed the cup slowly and placed it on the table, and immediately wiped the flowing tears drenching Ega's cheeks with her long fingers.

“Why should Aluna, Ko?” groanings interrupted. “Why should I and you be betrayed?” continued. The man patted Ega's back slowly while taking a deep breath, then exhaled.

“I and Aluna .., actually there is no relationship between us,” said Iko who immediately made Ega stunned. The two men looked at each other for a while.

“Agency asked me and him to pretend as if we were in touch to boost popularity,” he continued. “Our intimacy in front of the camera, our togetherness that seems to be a role model for all who see it, is just a fake. I never loved him in the least, nor did he,” he concluded, shaking his head, as if he could not believe how he had just complied with the agency's request to pretend.

“I can't even think about how and when he can recognize your husband,” concluded the man. Ega fell silent to the fact that it turned out that the relationship between Aluna and her best friend was only engineering. Instantly all Ega's memories of Aluna reopened. About how the young girl wanted to look like her, about how she wanted to match whatever was inside her. All of that turned out not to attract the attention of Iko, but to win the heart of Evan, her husband. Ega again cupped his palm covering his face, trying hard to accept all though bitter. Slowly he turned his face to the sky and took a breath.

“Rest in my room, I'll sleep here,”Iko's legs while caressing Ega's still wet hair.

“I sleep here only,” concluded Ega lirih. The man nodded, allowing Ega to lie down on the sofa. The woman curled up her tired body, trying to close her eyes and hoping that what she was experiencing tonight was just a dream that would soon disappear tomorrow.

The man looked at Ega who was now asleep on the sofa. Her tired-looking tube and pale face made anyone who looked at her feel unbearable. Iko walked over to Ega who looked cold. Occasionally the tired body of the woman moves to justify her sleep position that looks uncomfortable.

“My poor heaven, why do you have to experience pain like this,” Iko mumbled. The man then lifted Ega's body with his heart and moved it into the room. He laid his weak body on the bed and covered it with a thick blanket. Iko looked back at that pale face, stroked her hair slowly, and stroked her cheeks gently. The beautiful face that used to always look cheerful and happy, now disappeared from nowhere. Only sorrow remained there, clearly drawn even though the woman had closed her eyes. Slowly the man attached his lips to Ega's forehead, pouring out the love he had so far harbored. ‘If fate brings us back together before you get married, of course you will not experience this sad destiny. I'm sorry that it's too late to express this feeling to you, Ga.’ He said in his heart while releasing the warm kiss from the forehead of the woman who was still sleeping in front of him.

"Today and beyond, I promise to always protect you" the man murmured softly.
