Fire Breath

Fire Breath
Mission Commences

Finally, the appointed day arrived. Sabina and the five others who were about to leave were getting ready. Sybilina, Misa and Savio let go of them with worry. Even so, since the only way to be able to fight the lycan was to destroy the magic stones, then they were unlikely to prevent the departure of Sabina and the others.

The silver bullet has been distributed in a bullet container carried by three vampires, Hazel, Sabina, and Valerie. In addition to two pistols from Ladon's treasure box, Hazel also has one gun of the same type. Therefore, the three vampires are in charge of using firearms, considering they do not have long-range attacks such as witches or dragons.

Ladon prepared his magic book to teleport. The six people were already standing around the magic book that Ladon had brought. Hazel writes down the address she knows before a golden light hits their bodies and disappears within seconds.

A dark, narrow alley greeted Sabina when the girl opened her eyes. Since his eyes had just been dazzled by a very bright golden light, he now needed to adapt for longer when he encountered a dark place. The alley looked seedy with puddles of water that gave off an unpleasant smell. Even so, no person or creature was in sight.

"Where are we?" valerie asked as she blinked a few times, trying to get used to the low light.

"We're in Bellmore, the last human-inhabited town bordering the wolf territory" Hazel said, pulling her pistol from her waist.

Sabina's father then quickly checked the readiness of his weapon. He also told the others to be prepared and alert. Sabina practiced shooting when she was younger. His father taught these skills to his three daughters. Therefore, even though it had been a long time since Sabina last held a gun, but her body still remembered the way the weapon was used. He and Valerie nimbly re-checked their very old flintlock pistols.

Even so, the weapon is still in top condition. There were no signs of congestion or other damage. Satisfied, Sabina nodded at Hazel, knowing that she was ready to follow with the weapon in her hand.

"Alright then we will enter the forest across the city. Not many humans live here because long ago this area was only inhabited by a few people.

"Now, after the wolves have attacked blindly, there may no longer be humans here. They could have been turned into lycan or gone on the run" Hazel explained.

"We'd better leave by splitting up. I explained the plan for the werewolves' headquarters yesterday. We divide the group into two. One group will enter through the forest, and the other through a passage that is not too tightly guarded" continued Hazel.

"Well, which way is it going?" ask Valerie later.

"I will enter through the forest because there may meet some werewolves who are on guard" replied Hazel.

"Then Miangase and I will go with Dad. More silver bullet users will be of great help" Valerie said later.

Hazel nodded lightly. "Then, Sabina, you and Aiden and Ladon will enter through the hallway. Even though it doesn't seem to be too closely guarded, you have to be careful" Hazel told Sabina, Aiden and Ladon.

"Okay, Dad," Sabina replied followed by nods from Aiden and Ladon.

Their team also split up. Sabina, Aiden and Ladon were walking west, right on the edge of the city that was turned back against a heavily forested hill. As Hazel said before, the city has indeed been abandoned by its inhabitants, the building there even looks unkempt, dirty and damaged in some parts. It seemed like there was a riot before the residents of the city left this place.

There were some car wreckage left on the streets. Minimarkets and shops also seem abandoned with merchandise that is still intact. Sabina, Aiden and Ladon passed through the place carefully. Although there was no one there, but it would not hurt to remain vigilant.

"What is that passageway your father meant?" aiden asked as he pointed at an old culvert pipe embedded in the belly of the hill.

The three then walked closer to the two-meter-long pipe and looked into it.

"It's very dark and stuffy" Aiden commented later.

"Reminds me of a place" Sabina replied.

Ladon cleared his throat softly as he felt Sabina was insinuating him. "At least these culverts are dry. It seems like it has not been used for a long time" Ladon said observing the large amount of garbage and dust on the floor of the culvert.

"Let's just go in" Sabina said later.

The three then walked into the culvert. Aiden immediately cast a light spell that made his casket glow dimly. Even so, the light was enough to illuminate their journey.

The sound of rustling leaves accompanied the steps of the three of them. No one dared to speak because the voice in the hallway echoed far away. They were worried that their voices would invite the Lycan attacks. Even the sound of their breathing was heard so loud.

The seconds passed so slowly. Unlike Ladon's cave, the culverts only had one branchless path. Then it was easy enough for them to follow him to the werewolf settlement.

Finally, after how long it took to walk, a speck of light began to appear at the end of the passageway. Aiden extinguished the light on his wand and invited Sabina and Ladon to walk towards the light.

"It looks like it's the end of this hallway," whispered Aiden carefully.

"We should look at the situation outside before it appears" Sabina said in a whisper.

Both Aiden and Ladon agreed with the proposal. They clung tightly to the wall and peered out of the passageway slowly. There's no one outside. They appeared to be in the middle of the forest that was on the hillside. Faintly, from a distance Sabina sensed the familiar presence energy. The werewolves.

Not far from the culverts must have stood the settlement of werewolves. According to Sabina's calculations, perhaps their distance to the settlement was less than three hundred meters.

"You'd better use your magic-busting spell, Witch" said Ladon, who seemed to also feel the energy of the werewolves' presence.

Aiden nodded. The young man then raised his magic wand and began casting spells towards Sabina's body, Ladon and his own. A purple-colored sheen light enveloped the three a long time later.

"Already," said Aiden slowly.

"Thank you, Aiden," replied Sabina. The rest of the team must have used the Miangase-busting spell as well. Sabina could only hope in her heart that her father and brother were okay.
