Fire Breath

Fire Breath
Tears of Life and Death

In the morning Roberta greeted them with great joy. Despite not seeing the fight directly, but instinctively Roberta knows that Sabina and Aiden have defeated the banshee. He was unceasingly grateful and then voluntarily reported the good news to all corners of the city. Sabina and Aiden soon become prima donna in the city.

Even so, their journey could not stop there. After saying goodbye, Sabina and Aiden were forced to leave the Forbidden Dark City. The villagers who still had fun partying celebrating the departure of the banshee initially told them to stay longer. At least so they can join the wine party together. But Sabina immediately refused firmly.

They don't have much time. In addition Sabina had been holding back a few days of hunger, and much of her energy was drained to fight the banshee. He can change uncontrollably if longer in the middle of many humans. That's not a good scenario for both sides.

So with endless thanks, Sabina and Aiden finally left the city. They returned down the forest that is now not too dense, to the Springs of Life and Death. People in the Forbidden Dark City gave clues as to where the Springs were located. Sabina, Aiden and Nora immediately shot towards the direction the people in the city pointed at.

Their journey must be down a small river that surrounds the Forbidden City of Darkness. They continued to walk towards the high hills on the Eastern side of the City, against the current of the river. The further they travel, the bigger and faster the flow of the river. That means they are following in the right direction.

At the end of the river there rises a high hill filled with thick trees. The sound of water was faintly heard from a distance. Sabina and Aiden soon find out that the source of the sound is their next destination.

And it's true. After splitting the forest at a speed beyond reason, their group finally found a waterfall with a large lake below. The current is quite heavy and the waterfall looks very high and large. The points of water splashed from the impact of the waterfall with the lake below.

Sabina, Aiden and Nora who recalled Miangase's previous message hurriedly avoided the location that was hit by water. Miangase clearly said that they had to cross the spring without being exposed to the water. It's a tough job.

"How do we find a goldfish in the lake's torrent?" aiden asked half-screaming, trying to beat the sound of the waterfall debum.

Sabina and Nora did not seem to have any reasonable ideas either. Instead of taking fish, approaching the lip of the lake without being exposed to splashes of water alone is impossible.

"Let's think over lunch" Sabina said later.

"You want to hunt?" ask Aiden.

Sabina nodded slowly. "Please wait here with Nora" he continued.

"Alright," said Aiden according to. The young man then laid his body in the grass while removing the large backpack he was carrying. "Let's eat some food first, Nora," Aiden asked.

The forest around the waterfall was not very dense. There were only a few large trees standing far apart from each other. But the strange thing that Sabina saw around there was the number of animal skeletons scattered. And after wandering around for a while, Sabina did not find a single living animal at all. Finally the girl chose to pause in a field not far from there.

Sabina circulated her gaze in despair. On the way he saw a small cave looks jutting on the cliff wall. It seemed like the cave could be Sabina's only last hope. Who knows, inside there is a nest of wild animals that he can hunt.

Without waiting for a long time, Sabina immediately darted towards the cave. From the outside, the gaping mouth of the cave revealed a deep darkness. Sabina estimated how deep the cave was and was even more excited because maybe she would get a lot of hunted animals. Without hesitation, he entered the dark cave alone. Luckily both of his vampire eyes were helpful for seeing in the dark.

The atmosphere in the cave is very humid and cold. Sabina estimates that this cave is actually located in the belly of the hill, where the big waterfall she had met with Aiden and Nora. Sabina continued to step inside the cave, although darkness surrounded her without a crack.

However, what Sabina saw in the cave turned out to be different from her estimation. At the bottom of the cave floor scattered a lot of bones. Sabina looked at some of the bones that were there, and to her surprise, they were not just bones of animals but of humans!

This cave is really like a former massacre. Hundreds of human and animal bones stacked together until they were difficult to distinguish. Even so, because Sabina had lived long enough and understood the anatomy of all kinds of living things compared to anyone, she immediately knew that the scattered bones of the corpse were dead with complete condition. There was no sign of violence happening to them all.

Encouraged by curiosity, Sabina finally decided to go deeper into the cave. Each step made a loud crackle as it stepped on the bones scattered high at the bottom of the cave. After a while of walking, Sabina realized that the darkness in the cave was gradually disappearing.

At one point at the end of the cave, Sabina faintly saw the sparkles of golden light that continued to twitch slowly. His curiosity grew higher, and he now forgot the fact that he was suffering from acute hunger. Her energy might not be much else, but Sabina still chose to continue exploring.

Finally, after being close enough to the end of the cave, Sabina now actually discovered something quite extraordinary. A small lake with calm water right in the middle of the belly of the hill. Sunlight gushed in from the gap above the lake. It looks like the gap is another entrance in the form of a cave on another ridge.

The light from the crack was what bounced over the lake water, and made its soft ripples sparkle golden. But the more amazing thing is, right in the middle of the lake, on top of a neatly arranged stone steps, a glittering container looks very beautiful with a tinge of rainbow colors in it. Sabina stared more closely at the water container that should not be prevalent in that place.

The girl then realized that the water in the container was colored like a rainbow. At each blink of his eyes, the color strokes in the container changed, red, yellow, green, and so on. Sabina was really fascinated to see that until unknowingly, she walked slowly closer to the lip of the lake.

His body was out of his control. The only thing Sabina had in mind right now was to get that sparkling water and drink it. Countless thirst now surrounded Sabina. His hunger for days added to his thirst even more unstoppable. Sabina was already close to stepping into the lake when suddenly a strange hand that felt rough gripped her arm firmly.

"Don't go there if you still want to live, son," a raucous voice restored Sabina's consciousness.
