Arnetta pondered on his bed. The woman slept on her back while staring at the ceiling of the room she was occupying in the house. Something strange was felt in his heart. He felt that the atmosphere had changed after the confession he made to Patrick.
It had been three days since the two of them spoke, the man seemed to avoid it. Their conversation at that time even ended with him just walking into the room and leaving the man alone in the kitchen. Until this second every time Arnetta woke up, the man was already out of place. It feels like Arnetta felt he had just made a mistake to make the man uncomfortable living in a room with him.
Yeah, it's possible that due to her pregnant condition Patrick begins to think that a mistake brought Arnetta into her home. The man must have thought that Arnetta wasn't a good woman.
Of course Arnetta from the beginning was not a good woman. He alone is no longer holy and even let himself be harassed until pregnant like this. Arnetta already has no self-esteem if juxtaposed with the fine women out there.
"Maybe I should get out of here soon." Mumbled.
Shit, thought. Hot eyes. His chest felt tight. In his mind, after he left this house no one would want to accept it let alone give it a home. From the beginning he had nothing. Arnetta is very poor.
Slowly, the woman who was two-bodied also woke up from her bed. Immediately Arnetta changed his nightwear with the same clothes he had worn when he first came to this house. Now he must be strong, for no one will ever be merciful to him.
Look at the wall clock in the corner of the room. At 11pm. I hope Patrick is still awake so he doesn't have to leave here. But even if the man had fallen asleep, Arnetta still would not have delayed his decision. Tonight he must leave before he makes others uncomfortable.
"Thank you, I'll wait to hear from you."
Patrick's voice instantly entered his sense of hearing. As soon as the door leaf was almost open, Patrick's heavy voice immediately reached his ears. And, sure enough, when the door opened completely, Patrick sat at the dinner table massaging his nose. Soon their gazes met.
Arnetta instantly fell silent in place as the pair of sharp irises instantly stared at him expressionlessly meaninglessly. Patrick just watched it closely. Luckily Arnetta did not bring anything from Jullian's house.
"Not slept ?"
The first question he heard from the man in three days. Patrick looked at her as if there had never been anything between them. Just as usual when they met before that confession day.
Arnetta walked forward hesitantly approaching the man. He wanted to express it as soon as possible as he wanted to leave this house. The longer he stays, the longer he drowns. What he was worried about if until there were other women in Patrcik's life, it would be very risky. And Arnetta prefers to avoid that fight.
"Pat, I ... "
"You must be thirsty. Shall I get?"
The man immediately woke up and his movements stopped when Arnetta's weak voice shocked him.
"I want to leave."
Patrick immediately looked at Reva with wide eyes. Like I just got struck by lightning.
"What ?"
Arnetta took a deep breath before the woman finally expressed her intention to return to Patrick. He thought the man was still recovering from his shock.
The woman knew that her actions were ungrateful. However, it's good he ended everything before finally he even made the owner of the house uncomfortable in his own dwelling. And, it would be very selfish if he stayed in this house while he knew in fact he was not fully accepted here.
"I know that you're not comfortable with me being here. Especially after you found out I was pregnant. You must've thought I wasn't a good person."
Arnetta could only look down while staring at his pair of stomping feet on the floor. That night the room did not feel hot at all, but he was suddenly stuffy as if the air supply had been sucked out because of his words. He was sure after this without saying goodbye, Patrick would have kicked him out.
However, the things he was waiting for did not hear. For a few minutes Arnetta did not hear any sounds around him. He slowly ventured to raise his face and immediately found the pitiful look Patrick had directed at him. Plus the man rubbed his face rough.
"Mr ..."
"I don't know how many rejections you've received." Said the man in a powerless roar. Not a single bit of high or ominous tone from his voice.
Patrick walked over to the spot where the woman was standing. His tall body loomed in front of Reva who was still looking at him questioningly.
"Maybe the pain you've been through does leave a wound, but believe me ... I never thought badly of you."
Arnetta could no longer speak. The woman just kept quiet in her place. Although his eyes continued to point at the man, but his gaze turned white. Frosted. Nothing could be clearly seen.
"I'm not them, Reva. Ever since I first saw you in the hospital, I knew you needed help. At least if 99% of the people you know hurt you, then make me 1% of those who do the opposite."
Arnetta cries in front of Patrick. He did not expect that there were still humans who did not judge him. That makes him the 1% who will help him. All this time, he never got any help. Preferably the treatment he received was only the residence of them for his suffering. It was better than having to judge him.
"I ... Hix... Pregnant." Arnetta said with a great sob.
"I'm sure you're a good woman, because even if you don't want this child, you let her live. In fact, you yourself often seem to love this child. You're a great mom."
Reva shook her head strongly. Thinking about how this child would be born from a dirty woman seemed to instantly make his chest ache. I don't know what her son will say later when he finds out the woman who gave birth to him once sold her own body for money. Thinking about it made Reva long to pray for God to take her life after giving birth. But, he himself could not bear to let his son live alone in this world.
"Don't regret your life. If you feel dirty, then you can fix it with a good life."
"Pats..!"
TOKTOOK
"Sir, open! We know you've been hiding a woman who's not your wife !"
The two people immediately looked at the horror at the door of the house that was still tightly closed. They believe something bad is waiting for them out there. The sound of many people asking them to open the door of the house.
"I think they're in need of an explanation, Reva."
