After He's gone

After He's gone
thirty-seven wonders

Alana accompanies Ananta for a few hours in the hospital garden, completely silent.after the sad things he said passed Ananta did not say much anymore.

Alana occasionally scratched the back of her head that was not itchy. When asked to speak, what came out of Ananta's mouth was always about school. Huft. Ananta is not bored. But Alana was bored.

Ananta was just about to return when his mother called. He still had to have lunch and rest in his room. It is now the eleventh day of Ananta's care. During that time Alana always accompanied. Alternate with Ananta's mother to help the needs of Ananta. Although for business in the bathroom is always his mother who will take over. Ananta doesn't want to trouble Alana for that one.

"Alana, today you must be tired of accompanying Ananta all day. Later you will go home early, mumpung Mother today is also free." said the middle-aged woman. Alana wants to refuse the truth, she wants to wait for Ananta longer. As usual, he came home after night. But seeing her sincere smile made Alana feel bad to refuse.

"hmm. okay then Alana will go home first yes" he said smiling. Ananta's mother always tried to spread a positive aura around Ananta. Alana rarely saw him cry. Never in front of Ananta even. He is stronger than Alana.

In the afternoon Alana was ready to go home, because Ananta's mother reminded her many times. Presumably he was willing to make sure Alana could really rest comfortably.

Arriving outside the hospital, Alana felt empty again. The streets are still crowded unlike when Alana returned home usually. The sun was turning yellow as well, so beautiful.

Alana walked very slowly, again. Some public transport offered him, but he turned it all down. He still wanted to enjoy the scenery in front of him even longer. The atmosphere of the crowd that felt calm, lately he rarely saw. Because his head was always focused on Ananta and the hospital.

Just this time he was observing them one-on-one. Then the passing of vehicles, and the people who were also walking on the pedestrian path all felt peaceful. He then stopped at a red light intersection. He recalls again with Bella's suspicions about arkan. About the message Arkan left.

He was as determined as to accidentally get hit to a coma. Alana's eyes glared at the streets with the lights still red. They all waited obediently until the red light turned green. All vehicles that had been silent scrambled to be the fastest. They drove so fast that they made a gust of wind full of dust that was quite hard felt to where Alana was standing. Alana coughed as the dust was accidentally inhaled by her making her throat hurt.

Alana snorted in annoyance before moving on from there.

...****************...

The next day the hospital again looked crowded, Alana tried hard to ignore it. He should not expect bad things to happen to others for his own sake. He walked quickly to Ananta's room. This time his father stood hesitantly near the entrance. Then hurriedly approached the newly arrived Alana.

"alana. I just got word, but I don't want to repeat the same mistake. I don't want to tell them before I confirm the possibility first, but I want to know your opinion" the man said hurriedly. Alana was a little annoyed at being strapped to obscure sentences when she just arrived.

"why... is there another problem?" alana asked with a slight annoyance.

"You saw the hospital was very crowded this morning" he said trying to start his story. He had never felt this ridiculous before, asking for the opinions of others when he was the main doctor who handled Ananta.

"Alana knows that, but why." replied Alana impatiently. His father has been very long-winded since. This was indeed his first time seeing his father look panicked like this. If so, he knew this must be a very important thing.

"There are potential patients again. Dad was afraid to hope because usually no potential donor was found within this fast distance of the previous donor" he said showing an expression of amazement, as well as fear that it would mean disappointment for the second time.

"any more donors? dad sure?" ask Alana, make sure. Right, what he heard. Alana was still trying hard not to expect much to hear the news, but how else. If it's about Ananta, Alana can't help but hope.

"yes, and this time the family agreed, even asked for the procedure to be done quickly" he said, sounding unreal.

"Alana... how?" asked the father when he saw Alana just looks unfocused, just like the first response to hear this news. Alana was sure this was not a dream as her father wiggled his shoulders several times.

"I want to see her family first" Alana thought trying to use her logic. It was rare for any family to let go of this kind of thing so quickly, he had to make sure of everything first.

"What is she sick?" alana asked when her father had escorted her to the patient room.

"brain bleeding due to a suicide attempt, and having been in a coma for several days, things are getting worse today" the father said, bringing Alana to a standstill. And his family allowed the operation so soon? Alana looked at her father in disbelief, but her father just nodded firmly. Alana had already arrived at the door when she suddenly felt doubtful.

What if he's disappointed again? will he be able to?

What if that person was someone he knew, would he have the heart?

What if he suddenly regained consciousness from the coma? then Ananta gets a false hope once again?

How 'bout? ah. These thoughts will drive him crazy. But now this hope was before his eyes, and naturally he could not resist it.

With that confidence Alana finally opened the door with her father accompanying her beside her. As soon as he entered he circulated a gaze towards the patient who was lying down with a lot of equipment attached to his body. There is a nurse who is working, checking the heart condition of the patient in question. Beside him was a woman who looked older than him, she seemed to be the elder sister of the patient. He greeted Alana very kindly. Despite looking a little tomboyish, she kept smiling towards Alana, a sincere smile until Alana knew that she was a very good person.

"introduce me, I'm Alana" said Alana hesitantly.

"I'm Rosi, Andini's sister" he said taking Alana's hand to shake hands.

"sorry if I offended you, but.. I want to know why you let a patient donate his heart?" ask Alana carefully.

That person turned his attention to Alana's father for a moment, he had already said the reason before and it seemed like he had to say it once more.

"first, my sister didn't commit suicide.it obviously happened because of an incident." Alana nodded in understanding. His father must have concluded so because of rumors or examination results but he chose to believe in the patient's older brother.

"both have wanted to do it for a long time. He even registered as a donor after asking permission from me. He would have been angry at me from heaven if I hadn't done his ridiculous will" he said, punctuated by a hint of joking. Although Alana knew, most of her sentences were to cover up the pain as Alana had done.

"and the classic reason, because our mother died of heart disease. So she hoped she could help others because her regret could not save her own mother." she said again with a smile.although Alana saw her cheeks flushed and her eyes were slightly teary. Alana was amazed, this person could be that loud when telling a story. Alana was eager to hug him, even though she was hesitant because they had just known each other.

"luckily my sister's heart is healthy, so she can have the opportunity to help others as she dreams."

Hearing that sentence made the tightness in Alana's chest decrease, it seemed like this time she really had hope.
