After He's gone

After He's gone
one. The child who is always in the hospital

Alana is the son of a doctor in the hospital. He often went to the white building with his father. He was often taken to the hospital when his mother had other activities and could not take care of him. Alana still likes to follow my dad. Because after playing all day, usually the father will buy food that he likes.

From the day he met Ananta, his reason for going to the hospital increased by one more. Alana loves being around Ananta. He was very interested in everything about that little man with heart disease. The first time they met, Alana who approached Ananta first. After several meetings, Alana finds out that Ananta is her father's patient. Over time the two of them looked for each other. Ananta is the reason Alana is looking for an excuse to go to the hospital, and Ananta who has always been there looks happier since the presence of Alana.

.........

Switch Alana's POV

Nanta is handsome, kind, and smiley, although sometimes a little cold too. Although sometimes her face looks annoying, I know she's nice. At first he was a quiet boy, and loved to be moody. But over time he became a little more cheerful. He likes to tell stories about things and pay attention to the little things around him. I like to see him smile, even though his smile rarely appears.

Her real name is Ananta, but since she used to call me Lana, I called her Nanta. The name is a little funny for a man's size, but I like it.

I like to play with Nanta, I like to spend a lot of time with him. To you, those who look down on me for liking the sick, you must see for yourself a bright smile when you are happy. You guys just understood my feelings. I don't understand why I just like it. The taste appeared without warning, so I couldn't resist it. If you call it better, maybe it's fate that made him meet me.

The only thing I don't like about Nanta is seeing him in pain. I've been with him since we were kids. I watched his days in the hospital. From everything I've observed, I know she's very sick.

Often my father would show a panicked look when he took her into a special room, leaving me outside with Nanta's parents whose reddened face held back tears. It happened many times, but it still didn't get me used to it. I know, this situation must be dangerous for Ananta.

Unfortunately every time the pain came, he would hold back his tears not to cry in front of us as much as the feeling in his chest. He still smiled while grimacing in pain. That sucks!!!

She should have just cried to release her pain a little. He doesn't have to hide anything in front of me. We know how hard he's fighting to survive. So every time, the things I do will stay the same.

"Dad... Nanta can live a long time right" I'm a 10-year-old asked that to a father who looks confused what to answer. Dad just came out of the room where he treated Nanta who relapsed again. I looked down deeply, holding back the tears that felt like they were about to fall. Dad frowned with doubt. To endure the pain of seeing the sad sight of people who wish Ananta well in the midst of critical conditions may seem heartbreaking as well.

"Dad was always working on that every day." he let out a heavy sigh. The burden that he has in his heart may take a very long time to be released.

"But the decision is always in God's hands, so Lana is praying for her the best. Make God allow him to live longer..." Father's words calmed me down.

I replied with a quick nod. Living with death. I could never have imagined if the things Nanta went through every day happened to me. Maybe if I were Nanta I would have given up a long time ago.

That kind of thought crossed my mind. But since it was Nanta, he was able to survive. He had to endure... Because I don't want him to disappear.

Dad sighed in seeing me who kept expressing concern.

"Because you like it so much. It seems like you have to try harder to save Nanta" said the father, wiping my wet cheek before returning to the room where Nanta was.

All the time my chest felt tight. I felt like I could only breathe when I saw my father's relieved look after coming out of the room. I smiled, and Ananta's father and mother began to wipe their tears while demanding good news from him.

After these circumstances Ananta will be in the hospital at the earliest one week before being able to return home. That means, as long as I will accompany him in the hospital. Meeting her every day and making her comfortable while waiting for her to smile back sincerely.

Normal POV

That childhood moment left a promise. The promise that will be held firmly by Alana until the end.

When Ananta's condition had improved, Alana asked her father for permission to take her patients to walk around the hospital like today.

"dave, ..." Call Alana as the sky begins to turn yellow over her head. They sit on the grass, in the hospital garden. Always the same place. This time, it's been a week for Ananta here after his illness relapsed. Ananta looks fine now.

That afternoon they sat in the garden chair. The garden that witnessed both of their childhoods. All those happy and sad moments are partly happening on this grass.

"What kind of girl do you like??" Alana asked spontaneously. The sky was still bright, as bright as his current mood.

"Hmm" Ananta seemed to think, but he ended up staying silent for too long.

"What's.." Alana urges him again after Ananta stays silent for too long.

"Nothing." The words are short and cold.

"Why there is none. Everyone has a dream type." Alana protested her answer. Ananta must just not want to talk about it with Alana.

"Don't force it.. Everyone has a right to his choice, I choose not to." Ananta was insistent with his rather strange answer.

"Well, if you don't have any. Then you should marry me." Alana said. He waited for a while, and Ananta really did not reject him. A faint smile was seen on her lips, making Alana smile along.

"Alright let's get married" he said, replacing Alana who was so excited to hear it.

The serious look in his eyes made him even more confused as to what to do. Alana could not turn away from the glare of Ananta's sharp and determined eyes.

"Eh, yes... Let's get married" she said nervously. Ananta laughs.

"We can't get married now" she said later. They are still too small.

"10 years from now?" Alana was doubtful

4 Years old

"Let's get married in 10 years." Ananta tried to look confident.

Although in his heart the sentence felt like a do'a, do'a to make it can be on Alana's side until that time comes.

"Yes. Let's get married in 10 years." He answered with the same determination.

"We should get married." Alana.

"In that case, are we engaged now?" Alana's more precise questioning sounded like charging.

"Hmm similar anyway" He nodded steadily this time.

"So now take out the ring." Alana held out her hand

She arranged the grass into a ring that she placed on Alana's ring finger. I don't know where he knows how to do it. The girl just waited without saying much.

"Now we're engaged." Alana looked straight into Ananta's eyes. Then both smile. For this short time Alana wanted everything to freeze, let them continue like this forever.
