VAMPIRE SITTER

VAMPIRE SITTER
08. A Father

"...You don't even deserve to be called a father! You didn't teach him anything. You didn't give him any experience other than your cold attitude without compassion on him..."

Prangs!

Shun threw everything on the table with emotion because it kept thinking with Hina's sentence that now touched her feelings.

A Daddy?

Shun doesn't care if he's a father or not. Even his own father was more ruthless than what he was currently doing to Yuki.

Frustrated, Shun sat on the edge of the bed. He ruffled his hair, trying to calm the feeling as Hina's words continued to resonate in the mind.

"I shouldn't have let that human live" he murmured clenched his hands.

The uncomfortable feeling made Shun decide to go out for a moment to calm down. He met Hina who had just climbed the stairs. They both stared at each other without speaking.

Not caring about it anymore, Shun continued his wide steps out of the house. He even closed the door so hard that Hina gasped in shock.

"What's wrong with her?" hina's protest wanted to be angry because of Shun's attitude just now. But he tried to not care, his feet continued to step up the stairs leading to Yuki's room to see his condition.

"Yuki, would you like to take a walk?" invite Hina when she sees Yuki sitting alone facing the window to look at the sky out there.

"Hina, have you ever asked yourself why you were born into this world?"

Hina's lips opened, not expecting that a child as small as Yuki could have such a heavy question in her head. Even the adult Hina never thought about how and why she was born.

Wait for. Is it because Yuki is actually hundreds of years old? Although his body was like a child, it must have been a much older thought than Hina.

Yuki can hear my heart.

"No. I never thought about it," replied Hina coming closer.

"How would you feel if you didn't want to be born into this world?" yuki continued to ask.

Hina let out a rough sigh, feeling pity at the look on Yuki's pensive face with the weight of her mind.

"Yuki, umm... Although you may be hundreds of years old, but to me you are still a child. I mean, a kid like you shouldn't think about it. You just need to enjoy your childhood well," Hina said making Yuki turn towards her.

"Hina, if I were to grow up, would you still look at me like this?"

Both of Hina's eyes blinked a few times. "Maybe. To me you're still a cute little Yuki. Don't you feel like taking a walk with me? I'm tired of being here."

Yuki nodded with that persuasion. His gloomy voice so quickly turned into joy. He ran small towards the closet, took a ball so dirty and had dented there was even a tear.

"Hina, let's go throw a ball!" he smiled cheerfully.

"Yuki, where did you get this ball? I thought... Your father won't buy you any toys" he said.

"I picked it up on the street when the man was hit."

"What?" Hina gawked in shock at hearing that. He also squatted high with the boy. "Yuki, what do you mean? What.... All this time you've been secretly playing away from here?"

Yuki nodded. "I can run fast, Hina. So I don't need a car like you or Dad to get out of here."

"Then..." Hina thought hard. "What other power do you have? Besides being able to read my mind and run fast like that."

"I can see your future" he said. "I can also bring fire or water out of my hands. I can move the ground. Ah, I can also move things. Look it!"

Hina looked up to see the ball from Yuki's hand suddenly drift upwards before falling back down and she caught it.

"Did your father know all this?"

Yuki. "Dad will be angry if I use my powers in front of him."

Yes, like yesterday. The child in front of him managed to make Shun's body just crashed.

It's just so awesome!

What kind of vampire is Yuki? Hina was so curious about the boy.

...----------------...

Brakk!

The door creaked slowly as it opened. Hina looked to and fro to make sure the situation turned out to be so quiet.

His feet were on the cold floor. Hina reckon she has never been to walk around seeing this castle house completely. He did not know what was inside the house.

A small open door that implies light coming out of it. Hina never realized the door was located far enough from their room.

His feet settled, opening the door slowly which was immediately greeted by the hallway with lighting from several torches.

Hina went down the stairs of the wide hallway vigilantly. Finally, he faced a red door that was closed tightly.

Chequek!

His hand opened the door. He popped his head, peeking at the situation inside which turned out to be like a vast library.

"Whoah! It turned out that there was a place like this as well," he was amazed.

Hina walked while running around cheerfully there. He looked through some of the books on the shelf and climbed the stairs to reach the book at the top.

"What are you doing here?"

The question suddenly made Hina look down, seeing Shun who was wearing his black sleeping robe looking up with two hands folded in front of her chest.

"You..." Hina's body suddenly wavered. He tried to make a balance, unfortunately his legs accidentally slipped and fell.

Both of Hina's eyes were tightly closed, resigned themselves if only her head hit the floor or so on.

Whatisthis?

Hina opened her small eyes and saw Shun's field chest open right before her eyes. He realizes that his body is now being held by Shun.

So strong!

"You want to keep going like this?" shun asked Hina hurriedly to break away from the man even though she had to fall to the floor.

"I-I just looked around and accidentally found this room," Hina explained smoothed out.

Shun did not comment. He walked to the sofa in the middle and sat there enjoying a bottle of wine.

"Sit down" Shun said.

Hina walked hesitantly towards the sofa in front of Shun and sat there awkwardly. He observed Shun pouring the wine into his glass. Even on the table there are also some grapes available.

"I'm sorry I had to go in here. Maybe I'll just go back to the room for-"

"About what you said yesterday" cut Shun to make Hina run away. "You're right. I'm not a good father. I don't even deserve to be called a father."

Hina was speechless, trying to listen to Shun's pensive babble so seriously as she sipped her wine.

"I never taught the boy anything. I let him live alone, without friends or family. I never felt guilty for not caring about him. I just felt like I had to do it because of the way I hated it."

"Why do you hate him?" Hina started to open her voice and took things seriously. "He was a kid. You should've given her that-- affection"

"Still small?" Shun raised one corner of his lips. "Technically, he's 435 years old."

"435 YEARS?" pekik Hina glared in shock. "Then... W-how old are you?"

Shun slightly glanced at Hina who was chewing one by one the grapes available as if eating popcorn while seeing something exciting.

"690 years," he said.

"Aww!" Hina grimaced, accidentally biting her tongue while chewing wine so surprised she heard that.

Shun's voice suddenly changed. He smelled something so stinging and made his thirst suddenly rise.

"You bleeding?" ask Shun.

Hina smacked her tongue. "I accidentally bit-"

Hina gasped to see Shun walking up the table until now crouched on the front desk. The man grabbed Hina's chin to look up.

"Grow your tongue out."
