The Escapades

The Escapades
EPISODE 79

   “I'm healthy, you moron!”

Paul shrugged both of his shoulders after quickly catching the dagger with his finger. “Who knows.”

“Nby the way.” David walked in and sat on the edge of the bed, then looked at Paul and continued. “What's with all the commotion in town? Will there be a big celebration?”

“They are preparing for harvest festival. That's common,” Paul explained.

   “Huge festival?”

Paul nodded. A big celebration will be held and preparations have been made since five days ago, there are many people both from inside and outside the city of Skaydry coming to watch the festival.

Although only for one day and one night, the Harvest Season Festival is always highly anticipated by many people. Especially for the peak event that is done when the day is almost morning, welcome the new sun after eating a big meal together.

“So? There will be a big celebration but you don't look excited at all.”

Paul moved his lips and his hand was still playing with a yellow leaf between his big fingers.

“Hey, there will be drinks as well so don't be sad. You're like jelly now, mushy.” David got out of bed and mocked again, “Lembeek!”

“Shut! Fuckin' asshole.” Paul snorted and looked back out the window, staring far away.

David did not come out, he turned around and stood in the doorway, there was a painting of Heaven on the wall next to the door and a table in front of him with chamomile flowers in a beautiful glass vase.

“Problems at the border?” ask David suddenly.

Paul narrowed his eyes as his gaze turned flat and cruel. At first he thought it was just a small matter but then Paul realized that something was unusual. Maybe something big will happen.

“Do you think it's natural?” Paul asked without looking.

   “How do I know.”

“Ck, useless base,” murmured Paul small but could still be heard in David's sensitive ears.

“Hey, stupid. I just arrived here two weeks ago, how could I know about the situation here,” David bursts out in anger, he snorts irritably and smothers his chest and there is an unhappy frown on his forehead.

Paul was still sitting by the window, he turned to David and sneered. “If it happens on the battlefield you will definitely die instantly!”

“Heh, it looks like your abilities have dropped dramatically after all these years,” taunted Paul.

“I am in recovery, just wait after I fully recover I will make you remember your training period at that time,” said David ketus then left, leaving Paul alone in his room.

“Haah.” Paul let out a loud sigh, he did not believe at all that the David who had just left was the same David.

After almost twenty years of not meeting, there were a lot of changes to David. Except for his stubborn and vindictive attitude. Paul is sure those two things can never be changed until when you, well, unless someday someone can change them. But Paul wasn't sure about that.

Back to the matter that occurred at the eastern border of the academy. Paul pondered for a long time on the verge of his window and looked grim. Just then, someone appeared from the darkness in the corner of the room.

   “What do you think, Tora?”

“It's not something good.” The voice was very flat and the eyes behind the mask were also ice-cold.

Paul turned around and looked at the figure of Tora who was now coming out of the dark shadow and crouched down with a single foot before him.

   “You found something?”

“Master, something big is going to happen,” Tora said. “I found a high-level air formation in the depths of the protected forest of the city.”

High level formation!

Tora did not raise her head but she knew for sure that Paul was not surprised at all about it. If this information was heard by someone else, perhaps he had already gone crazy from panic and fear.

“I have some assumptions and also ... is it necessary to tell the City Master about this?”

“No, just tighten the guard and keep an eye on everyone you suspect. After all my duty is to protect the Academy and nothing more.”

After saying that, Tora remained in place, unmoved and said nothing. While Paul had returned his gaze upwards, looking at the sky that was very bright that afternoon without a faint white blob at all.

“There's something you want to say?” paul asked after a while waiting for Tora who did not move at all.

   “Master, I have some questions.”

Paul turned to the man in front of him again and slightly nodded.

“Why do you believe so much in Me?”

Hm?

Although astonished by the sudden question thrown by his right hand, he still did not change his expression at all.

“Do you want me to not believe you?”

Tora did not reply, there was a shadow of doubt in her black eye bead.

“Have you never thought of what if someday I betray you?” tora asked again, her voice was very flat but now it sounded weaker than before.

Paul smiled slightly, only slightly to the point that it was not visible at all.

“So, are you going to betray me?”

“There are many things in this world that can make a person like me a traitor.”

Tora is a man who rarely talks or interacts, except with his master, Paul and one senior who is also Paul's right-hand man, Cliff. Because events that occurred in the past make Tora only focus on serving Paul.

“Too many? Give me one example,” Paul said as he crossed one leg and placed it on the other while continuing to stare at the bowed Tora.

“For example like ...” He took a deep breath and unable to finish his sentence, his heart became trembling!

Paul pulled one corner of his lips and shook his head slowly. “You've been following me for years, even longer than Heaven. So what's up with today?”

He confirmed his sitting position and bowed with both hands resting on his knees which were now wide open then continued,

“Listen yes, I did not save you that day to witness today, or hear all your nonsense or treason as you said before.”

Paul lifted his chin, offended by Tora's previous words. “Nobody can betray me and you will never betray me,” break up.

Tora was still motionless from her place, only her fingers were getting clenched tightly. He gritted his teeth and his heart raced even faster as his blood rippled like a mighty wave of waves.

Tora, who was a teenager, had taken various competitions and military exams in the kingdom and she passed very well.

However, due to his poor family background, his position was replaced by a child from a well-to-do and domiciled family.

Tora was very hurt at that time, she angrily complained this to the army leader at that time and reported the cheating.

Unfortunately when he returned home, the entire contents of the house were in a mess and both of his parents died covered in blood, lying on the cold ground.
