Because of Rachel's request to her daddy, finally the boy she knew at the orphanage was able to attend school. From the story she heard from the daddy, Rachel found out that the boy was very happy to be back in school.
The positive thoughts of the young girl did not make her think that the place was not where the child should be. Rachel only looked at her side, and did not see her side at all. All he knew was that the boy could go back to school like him. Because Rachel never chooses and sees friends from her appearance, so Rachel thinks everyone will think the same. But he was wrong.
The boy who appeared on his first day of school with a very comparable appearance to all the children in the school immediately stole the attention. Her delicate appearance made the entire eye look disgusted at her. Not a single student wanted to get close and make friends with him. Even the boy instantly received a bully on his first day.
Rachel thought maybe the kid was in the bully because of his different uniform. So after school Rachel immediately broke her piggy bank, took all the contents and brought it to school administration the next day. Unbeknownst to her daddy, Rachel buys the boy a full school uniform like the rest of the kids and asks Maman, sir, her daddy driver who was still young at that time to leave the uniform in the orphanage and said that it was a gift from the school.
Rachel's smile rises when she sees a boy she doesn't know his name entering school in a uniform she's secretly bought.
But even so there are still nosy children bothering him. As the boy was walking down the school corridor, one of the other children stuck out his leg just as the boy was about to step up. He made the boy fall to the floor.
It happened right in front of Rachel's eyes. Seeing that Rachel immediately helped the boy stand up.
"Hey, you can't be like that to him. Don't bother him, or I'll report your attitude." Rachel said at the time.
And ever since then, Rachel has been helping the boy every time she's bullied. Rachel also did not hesitate to report all the children who were caught bullying her. Until some children often disturb the child secretly without Rachel's knowledge. Rachel also thought the boy was no longer bullied.
But one day Rachel heard the sound of someone crying from the back wall. Rachel stepped back and found a boy curled up to cover his face on both knees. I was crying with sobbing.
"Hey..cowok how to cry??" Reprovedly. He slightly bowed to the front of the child sitting on the floor.
The boy raised his face and looked surprised to see the girl in front of him.
Rachel smiled, then reached into her pocket and pulled out a pink handkerchief patterned on the princess. "More.. Wipe her tears" She said softly, thrusting her handkerchief and sitting next to the boy.
The boy accepted the handkerchief awkwardly, then immediately wiped the remaining tears on both cheeks.
"They're bothering you again?"
The boy looked down. Silence mute.
"You're here to learn, right? So don't put into the heart of all those children's words, assume they're just the wind." Rachel chuckled softly, leaning her back against the wall right by the boy's side and staring blankly at the blue sky. "Don't make me regret for making you here." And then he looked at the boy. The boy just looked at Rachel with a confused look. I don't understand what the girl said.
"You will not succeed if you listen to all their bad words. Fight them. Don't let them insult you again. This is where we learn. We all have the same rights. So study more diligently. Prove that they are no better than you. Try to pursue all your hidden desires. Try to be a smart child until you become a successful person."
The boy was stunned looking at Rachel who was still staring towards the sky. Observing the beautiful face with a heart as white as an angel, was so shining in the eyes of the boy.
"Mmm..ka...ka...kalu...if someday I can be a successful person, you want to be friends with me?" He hesitated and endured the embarrassment.
Rachel turned her head towards him, quickly the boy turned his face to hide. "Aren't we friends?"
The boy lowered his head and smiled awkwardly while scratching his temple due to misbehavior.
Looking at the child who looked timid, Rachel restrained her smile.
"I'll be happy to wait for your success. When that happens don't forget me, Dad? find me and come to me." Said Rachel who made the boy lift his face and ventured to look at him fixedly. Rachel commented on the smile, a very sweet smile in the boy's eyes. The boy glimmered at Rachel's smile. But it is clear that the words of Rachel make her spirit rise.
"Oh yeah, you just wear the bike. I heard he said you wanted to give it back. Why?"
"Mh.. That's.. He said it was an expensive bike." he said, barely heard.
"Geez, that bike I've never used, I've got a new bike. If you give it back, what will you do to go to school? It'll be too late to walk."
"Taa... But..."
"Already, just wear it. Suppose I loan it to you. One day, you can replace it by piggybacking me around. If we can ride around the world to England." Rachel let out a crisp laugh, making both her eyes narrow until her eyeballs were invisible, making her laughter also contagious to the boy beside her.
Seeing that the boy was cheerful again, Rachel got up and patted the skirt of her uniform. "Still here?"
The boy nodded without saying a word and changed his sitting position to cross-legged on the floor. And then Rachel found out the boy's name from the nametag attached to his shirt uniform.
'Word. M.' Rachel read the nametag and kept repeating it to keep it in her memory. Your name will be remembered forever... Dirman M's.
Back Rachel reviewed the smile then stroked the top of the head of the boy named Dirman. "Spirits..!!" His words then stepped away from Dirman who met red while rubbing his head the rubbing of a young girl's hand that had made him palpitate.
Since then Dirman began to study in earnest. He was determined to be a smart man. His above average IQ made him able to receive lessons very smoothly.
The next grade increment Dirman could prove himself by entering in the top ten. Hearing that, Rachel was so excited, that she was so enthusiastic to tell her daddy.
"DADDY...." Shouted Rachel opening the door of her daddy's den. He ran a little toward his daddy who sat on the sofa and immediately dropped his body in the lap of his parents.
"What news is there so happy?" Ask Mr. Wijaya while rubbing his daughter's back hair.
"Daddy still remembers the same kid that daddy put in that school?"
"Mmmm... Which son of Mirna's mother yeah?"
Rachel nodded in her smile. "He turned out to be in the top ten. Great is it dad?"
"Great boy.., it turns out he studied earnestly. But daddy's daughter is better at getting him to go to school again."
Rachel blushed and smiled proudly. "Thank you daddy..." Hugged and kissed his daddy's right cheek. "Eat him daddy give him a gift, to be even more excited."
Rachel nodded steadily.
"What gift should daddy give her?"
"Daddy can invite him here? She must be happy because she's never been inside a house like ours."
Mr. Wijaya chuckled, still gently rubbing his daughter's head. "May, daddy would invite her here and have mommy cook the most delicious food. Then what else?"
"Mmmm.it...Can't daddy adopt her? Let him stay with us. Rachel likes it dad. He's a funny and fun kid.
"Are you sure?" (You're sure)
"I'm sure daddy....Rachel has pity on him being shunned by friends. He has no friends at school. If he stays with us, he won't be lonely."
"Okey, daddy's gonna talk to him."
"Thankyou daddy, Rachel love daddy.." excited and back pecking her daddy cheek.
"Love you more dear..."
Mr. Wijaya finally carried out his daughter's request. He invited Dirman to visit his spacious residence again magnificent.
Secretly Rachel peeked at Dirman who was amazed by her home from behind the wall. Because at that time Rachel had ballet classes, Rachel was unable to eat with Dirman. He thought, Dirman would accept to be able to stay at his house so that there would be many opportunities to eat together.
But when she heard that Dirman turned down the opportunity, Rachel became disappointed. Dirman asked to be given a job rather than take for granted the gift of Mr. Wijaya. He prefers to be a janitor in his big house rather than a member of his family. Rachel had protested at her daddy and Mr. Wijaya said that she appreciated the boy's wishes. Instead his daddy was even proud of Dirman who was always humble and hardworking.
Though Rachel hopes Dirman is no longer humbled by her school friends. But now his friends even call the gardener Dirman. Rachel could no longer avoid the ridicule of her friends because that was the reality.
Because it was upset Rachel was lazy to meet Dirman both at school and at home. When Dirman comes to her house, Rachel will stay in her room.
Days passed, Rachel had never met Dirman at school. Lost in the earth. Rachel thought Dirman was angry at having avoided her.
What Rachel doesn't know, is that Dirman is beginning to diligently learn. Since getting praise from Mr. Wijaya, Dirman increasingly determined to be a smart child. He is no longer affected by the bully-an his friends, whatever the scorn of his friends considered him wind then. Dirman spent much of his time hiding behind books in the library. Both during break and when going home from school. And just got home when the school gates would be closed in the afternoon.
And finally Dirman can graduate from junior high school with a very satisfying score. He finally got a scholarship to continue to Langdon International High School School whose building is still one area with the previous Junior High School.
In High School, Dirman finally has a friend who is increasingly familiar with him.
Secretly Rachel steals around observing the change in Dirman's attitude which already looks cheerful and confident. Rachel was initially excited about the change. Moreover, there were other children who wanted to be friends with him
Dirman's familiarity with a boy named Reynold makes Dirman's world no longer lonely, Dirman learned a lot of new things with fellow men. The two become more often spend time together anywhere and anytime, so do not realize that his attitude even makes a girl feel neglected.
Rachel thought, Dirman was still angry with her and no longer needed herself, so Rachel was getting away.
In that disappointment, Rachel even every time she heard her daddy always praised Dirman, as well as her mommy. Even his little brother who had talked a lot just wanted to play with Dirman. Rachel has even rarely played with her own sister because of Dirman's attitude that looks possessive on her sister.
Dirman succeeded in making everyone in his house hooked on him.
Rachel became angry. It was as if his entire family's attention had now turned to Dirman. Likewise at school. Because Dirman always won awards, teachers continued to praise him. Rachel who had always received praise now turned to Dirman. Slowly Dirman shifted all his positions. Take everything Rachel has.
Gradually Rachel felt increasingly lonely, her loneliness was ventured by opening up and hanging out with many friends.
In Rachel's eyes, Dirman had already changed greatly. Dirman who was very quiet grew up to be a confident, brave and talkative young man. Dirman had even dared to blatantly tease her. Declaring love for him. Trailing her wherever Rachel was like a chick that followed her mother. Rachel became uncomfortable because of it, especially Dirman's behavior made Rachel mocked by her friends. Dirman who is immune to bully-an, already ignore it all, but different from Rachel. The longer Rachel becomes fed up with Dirman. Rachel eventually started to act cold.
Rachel's hatred grew day by day, month by month by year. Until the last year in High School, Dirman even class with him, and increasingly interfere in his personal affairs. Whenever any young man from that school as well as from the outside school was interested and close to him, Dirman would mess things up. When Rachel secretly wants to hangout with her boyfriend, Dirman always succeeds in thwarting her. Dirman even reported all of that to Mr. Wijaya. Makes Rachel repeatedly get reprimand from her daddy. Making his relationship with his daddy become tenuous. Rachel is no longer able to indulge with her daddy, and it's all because of Dirman. Dirman, Dirman, and Dirman...!!
That was the beginning of Rachel's hatred for a man named Dirman. A man who is getting into his life. It was actually Rachel herself who brought it into her life.
Flashback...
Rachel opened both her eyes. The sound of the creaking of the open door drew his mind realm from the memories of the shadows of the past. Slowly Rachel turned her body. His friend and sister emerged from the open door.
"Bryan's.... When's come? How's college?" he asked with such weak intonation.
Bryan did not answer, he immediately approached Rachel and sat on the edge of her brother's gurney. While Raya just stood on the side of the gurney.
Rachel looked at her sister. He could see the remnants of the crying in his sister's eyes. Rachel knew him well. Rather than her, Bryan loved Mahavir more. Bryan's hand was then held.
"Bryan's... Sorry brother....." She sighed with all her might holding back her cries.
Bryan nodded slowly while tightly clenching his lips together. Both try to hold back the crying.
"Sister is guilty, brother is sorry. Brother.sister made him leave us." She was trying harder to hold back the crying. "I'm sorry big brother, Bryan...." Further. And her crying broke again.
Hurry Bryan hugged his brother's body which shook with his cries. "Sister, don't blame yourself like that. I understand the situation brother. I'm guilty of brother too. Don't be like this. Brother Vir would not want a brother like this. He'll be back. Sooner or later, Vir will definitely be back."
The kingdom in the midst of them also shed its tears. Slowly Raya stepped back and got out of there. Give the brothers time to comfort each other.
