The Land Of Thorns

The Land Of Thorns
Night length part 1

Crossing the border of the immigrant district, not a single patrolman realized that a group of people settles - ngendap walk down the alleys - small alleys in the darkness of the city.

‘He thinks patrol is just a night road.’

Seeing the soldiers who patrol only one person on the main road east has shown that the quality of security in the city of Rosten is so bad, Edgar could only shake his head as he crossed the road while settling behind the soldiers who crossed the main road.

The soldier who looked bored did not realize at all that many people passing behind him walked so casually without a sound.

They arrive at a place in a rundown district walking in a dark little alley carrying their own equipment, respectively, there was not a single soldier patrolling this slum district so it would be natural for a fight to occur in this area.

Ludi and 2 other hunters approached those hiding in the alley, Ludi deliberately rushed away first before they arrived to scout the place intended for small bandits when giving the location of the headquarters of the bandits.

Of course, because nothing can beat the hunter about the sight at night because they are used to staying in the forest where the moonlight is covered with lush trees.

“What do you see there Ludi?”

Edgar asked as he greeted Ludi walking up to him.

“He said it right, but I think it looks more like a castle because there are wooden walls protecting the place. But it looks like they are using some other building near them as a place of surveillance.”

Ludi watched the little bandit stare suspiciously if he did not say fully what he knew. The bandit just turned his face looking afraid not to see Ludi.

The bandits had previously provided information that their headquarters was in the deepest part of a slum district in a wooden building that looked bigger than the others with their numbers around 50s but he did not say anything about nearby buildings as a surveillance site.

“This and this building, I did not expect that their place of supervision was so much.”

“If you are to keep other things a secret just watch out!”

Ludi said it while drawing on the floor, he made the location plan to give a sign of the building that was used as a place of surveillance for bandits after forcing the small bandit to open his mouth and he was seen battered in the corner of the alley just shook his head no more he hid.

“What do you think Edgar?”

Ludi said back when he saw Edgar who looked carefully at the plan, his face was so serious, like thinking of a plan.

Edgar really understood something when he saw this plan, it looked like a defense strategy that the military used when placing this surveillance place that could keep an eye on each other like.

“Area buffer! Six buildings along the south and north sides of this road are buffer areas.”

Edgar said what he was thinking.

“What do you mean young man?”

What Edgar said made the mercenaries who were nearby ask confused not to understand the buffer area that Edgar said.

“This surveillance post is not only used to monitor if you see other groups attacking them, but also useful for stalling time or giving surprise attacks.”

“We are on the north side of the road and see 3 banguan on the north side imagine if we eliminate the bandits who supervise this first place, the surveillance post in the middle of this will certainly be aware that the guard in the first post does not exist.”

“Same if we attack this second post, or even maybe there will be troops waiting and stalling to hold us until they wake up all their troops and if we just pass them without knowing this post there will definitely be a surprise attack.”

Obviously Edgar was so serious when they looked closely at the drawing of the floor plan.

“Means you mean they have troops already prepared outside of their headquarters?”

Tanya Ludi summed up the intent of Edgar's words because hearing him always said there were bandit troops holding them back.

“Yes you are right Ludi, therefore we must find the building where the troops are hiding.”

Edgar nodded his head while he was still thinking of looking at the drawing of the floor plan thinking of which building the bandits used to hide in.

The mercenary's remarks complemented Edgar's answer which further justified Ludi's conclusion regarding the troops in question, hearing it made them glance together looking towards the small bandit who looked frightened already shook his head first before being asked anything.

“I really don't know anything about that sir!”

With still seeming fear the little bandit refuted something they had not asked him.

“Hoi! Just confess. Tell me everything you know!”

“Really I don't know sir where the troops you're referring to are hiding.”

Ludi seemed to threaten him by clenching both hands as if preparing to hit. But Edgar stopped him from cutting the conversation.

“But you know where the storage warehouse around this road is.”

“Oh, if it's in the building a third surveillance post.”

“That's the place!”

The little bandit was shocked to hear Edgar yelling and pointing at him, but after a few seconds he only realized because he told the storage warehouse as a place where his troops hid.

‘Wah, he who is cunning or this bandit who is stupid.’

What they had in mind when they saw Edgar deceive the little bandits who seemed to still regret his words and refused to admit his troops were hiding there.

“Can you check back this place Ludi?”

Edgar asked again to ask Ludi to check the building he showed on the drawing plan.

“Of course, although actually climbing the building is quite difficult compared to trees in the forest.”

‘True too, because they saw from the roof made Bandit in the post so unconscious.’

Edgar only realized that Ludi and the other hunters were watching from the roof, he had previously only thought that they were watching on the road, with only a few people unlikely to make the bandits suspicious he thought, but it answered how Ludi consciously saw there was someone who was always watching in the direction of the road.

‘If it wasn't for that we'd already eaten up that trap.’

That's what Edgar said in his mind, seeing Ludi with other hunters who were about to go back to lurking.

“One more Ludi, please see their headquarters building next to it or the building behind it, whether it looks different or not.”

Calling Edgar back made Ludi stop his steps to turn Edgar by showing a look of confusion to him.

“For what I check it?”

“Just do it, there is no way a rat only has 1 hole to enter his house.”

Obviously Edgar from his experience that he knew when in another life hunting bandits that Ludi always reminded him to always look for another route because bandits always have an escape route if they are in a good situation recessive.

“Oh, I get what you mean Edgar. Alright we will do a quick reconnaissance, it seems they look impatient!”

Ludi looked at those who looked so furious watching the small bandit because they had been played with by him since then not to mention they realized that they almost fared the same as other city mercenaries who were defeated by the bandits this town.

‘It looks like they also realized that they were almost caught in a bandit trap.’

In his mind Edgar thought that, looking at those who looked more relaxed as they might be aware that this seemingly invincible city bandit was not as great as they thought after the rumors were answered, although Edgar still had to find out who the nobles who always covered their deeds.
