The Land Of Thorns

The Land Of Thorns
A message part 3

At the same time when Akhsan was on the page, Edgar was in his reading room with a pile of books arranged a little mess nearby, he was so serious about reading every book he found.

“Hem.”

Edgar was riled up to receive every piece of information he took from the books he read. He's read history books, technology, health and even novels, but that doesn't mean he's reading fast, it's just that he's picking up important points from every book.

Lilia peeked out from behind the door with a cup of tea in the room, seeing her settle down - so quiet as to surprise Edgar who seemed so focused on seeing - look at the book in front of him.

‘I remember this technological breakthrough in my memory.’

Edgar in his mind realized that history was still going the way it was in the memories of his other life. Even he was stunned as he looked at a book he had just picked up.

“I even vividly remember this novel book!”

“Cover and its contents are exactly the same!”

Lilia was surprised to hear Edgar's tone sounding annoyed as she saw the simple things of the novel just published in this kingdom, only for the novel she felt annoyed at not being able to enjoy the entertainment. Edgar felt a headache as he lay his head on the table sighing so heavily.

“Do you hurt?”

The voice came from Lilia who was planning to surprise Edgar but did not so because she who was shocked when Edgar shouted, was beside him bringing a cup of tea for him.

“...., I'm good Lilia, Thank you for bringing me tea.”

Edgar sounded lethargic he sipped slowly on his tea drink, he felt the tea was a little different from what Lilia usually brought for him. Lilia watched him as if waiting for Edgar's response realized something different from the drink.

“This is lemon tea!”

“Truely, you like that?”

“Of course, this feels so refreshing Lilia.”

“Aunt Melda says lemon can relieve fatigue.”

Lilia smiled feeling happy to see Edgar liked it, Edgar felt the lemon tea was not so sour, making him finish the drink.

“Actually what is the Prince looking for?”

Lilia looked at the pile of books Edgar was reading, Lilia was astonished and did not understand what Edgar was really looking for because the subject of the book before her looked random.

‘I don't think I can say that I'm looking for a match in this world with what I remember.’

Edgar had a glimpse of some scenario in his head if he told Lilia that he had become a King in this kingdom that was so old and had suddenly awakened like his soul was being pulled back into the present with memories that match what happened when he became King, although the path of his destiny was slightly changed.

‘I don't want him to call me lying.’

As she thought about the scenario telling her the truth and Lilia looked in disbelief and Lilia cried bitterly away from her, as she had been feeling lied to by all this time.

‘Imagine that irritates me the most.’

He imagined telling Lilia and Lilia to look pitiful to him, laughing mockingly thinking he was weird. He felt like he didn't want to be considered weird with people not being right, it made him upset thinking about it.

“Prince?”

Lilia called him to break Edgar's daydream which he had imagined to tell him or not. He sighed.

“What.”

“What?”

“Yes what!”

“What exactly is the Prince looking for?”

Edgar seemed to pout at the thought of having to answer Lilia's question, but Edgar knew that if he didn't answer it he would ask her more and more, not to mention that his face was already intrigued by such intentions as wanting to help him.

“Witch ..., I'm looking for a book about witches.”

“Prince believes they exist?”

“Sure, although their number is only a little.”

Edgar could not explain why the witches in these years were still hiding as a secret organization, he just thought that it seemed like witches had their own world outside of the ordinary human kingdom they lived in, for that reason that made them invisible traces of him made people not know of their existence. Edgar felt sorry for not asking his assistant the witch question at that time.

‘What is this related to Albert.’ message

Edgar who looked like he was thinking about something made Lilia pay attention so astonished. He felt like he was only seeing a faded shadow while trying to remember his assistant.

“Looks like I should ask for your help Lilia.”

When Edgar noticed Lilia staring at him, Edgar remembered the message Albert had given him and at least felt that Lilia should look at the content of the message. Edgar took the message out of his pocket and showed it to Lilia.

“What is this?”

“Read it. But keep your voice down.”

“Currently the kingdom is controlled by royal advisers, with the growing number of noble factions supporting behind it leaving the royal faction devoid of embassies, he said, corrupt nobles sheltering in the faction made the country worse off with rebellion, as well as starvation. The information about you and the King is closely guarded by them, there is still much the Prince should know, we are asking for help with the wardens of the royal faction to save you, ask Lilia to go to the blacksmith named the iron bone if there is anything important you want to know.”

“Do you understand?”

“Prince asked me to ... go to the place in question?”

“I've guessed you don't understand.”

Seeing Lilia reply with her gawking face watching him it made Edgar pat her forehead feeling regret asking Lilia that.

‘...., this is crazy and quite difficult Albert!’

Edgar guessed that Lilia did not know what about the situation of this kingdom because most of him only heard stories from others, let alone with the strictness of the current information, as he was, making it clear that his observation ability is quite poor.

The problem is who would want to do the tedious work of taking care of a person who falls asleep in a coma, even if it's an easy job. But because it was so easy that became the reason why Lilia worked to care for people in coma. Edgar felt a little understood the reason Lilia was working in this place.

“Do you understand why I'm always in this house?”

“What prince is always at home? Isn't that boring?”

“That's it, because they forbid me to go out.”

“Really? I guess what the soldiers said was true.”

“What do you hear?”

“They said that if it will strengthen security because reportedly there are parties who are targeting the life of Prince.”

Seeing Lilia answer him so innocently made Edgar realize a thing when he heard Lilia say it to him which made him smile amusedly holding a laugh in response to Lilia's words. Edgar was aware that Lilia did not understand the current political situation of the kingdom.

‘Not that it's funny that he found out the hit man was in this house.’

Still trying to hold back his laughter Edgar moved from his seat. He repeatedly patted Lilia on the shoulder, like something was amusing when he saw her.

“...., sorry Lilia. Looks like I misbehaved you.”

“Means Prince?”

The clear image on Lilia's face seemed increasingly confused to feel not catch what Edgar was talking about, then Edgar moved to avoid him feeling like he wanted to leave this place.

“Nothing, I just feel impossible asking you to go to that place.”

“Already! Why not ask someone else to go there!”

Edgar who was about to leave stopped his steps, he fell silent when he heard Lilia's reply who looked annoyed feeling ridiculed by him.

‘True too!’

What was on Edgar's mind because he felt in this place he had no one else to trust. He had to assume that the workers in this house were his enemies except for Lilia whom he knew of his background.

Lilia who felt ignored was curious why Edgar was just silent, making him approach to be in front of Edgar, he saw Edgar seemed to be thinking.

Such a Lilia made Edgar look at her so seriously with a hand propping up his chin while thinking which made Lilia feel even more awkward being noticed like that.

Edgar was actually thinking about something in his head like he was planning something.

“Alright Lilia I have a request!”

Edgar suddenly caught Lilia's shoulder with both hands which made Lilia surprised and embarrassed to see Edgar's face in front of him getting closer.
