The silence of the room where Lizbeth was seen lying with consciousness that had not returned made the sobs of Liana who was behind the door sounding bitter. Liana was only able to look at her daughter from afar because she realized that things were not going well. Edward who was inside accompanying his wife did not say a word since Lizbeth collapsed after seeing Liana's arrival.
Everything felt more complicated for Edward, he could not guess what was really happening. Liana, who is thought to have died as a traitor, is now even present as a hero who saves the wealth of Kostov from the hands of powerless. Wealth that has been the target of many people and endanger many innocent lives.
”Do you not want to enter?”
Alexa's voice made Liana turn her head, the girl looked a little awkward to talk to him. Dmitry who was standing on his back against the wall with his eyes closed immediately opened his eyes, staring at Liana coldly to make the woman who was his mother shake weakly.
“Not now,” the answer is smoother. “I don't want to make everything worse,” he continued.
“Good if you still know yourself,” said Dmitry in a painful tone.
Alexa sighed, she did not know how to behave at this time. Louis himself was also just silent because he did not want to interfere in the problems that he should not interfere with.
While in the room where Lizbeth was, the woman's eyelids began to slowly blink.
“Ed.”
“Ya, darling.” Edward smiled gently. “I'm here.”
The man moved to kiss his wife's forehead long enough down on the two beautiful eyes, both cheeks and ended on Lizbeth's pale lips.
“What is he here?”
Edward did not answer, but the man smirked at the back of his wife's hand and gently stroked Lizbeth's stomach.
“Ed,” furious Lizbeth for feeling ignored. “Stop asking unimportant, dear.”
Edward straightened his body and looked at his wife's beautiful green eyes. “Do not make me forget myself and blow the head of anyone who has made your condition like this.”
Edward's sentence implying a muffled rage managed to make Lizbeth nod. He also does not want to force his brain to think hard, pain, anger, disappointment and also long to be mixed when he sees the same woman as the woman in the frame of his family photo. The woman is her mother, the mother who has made nightmares for her family also destroyed the beautiful fairy tale of her children.
How could the woman have become the trust of her father after betraying her own family?
That big question keeps spinning inside Lizbeth's pretty brain. He felt Edward's soft touch on his forehead. “Stop thinking hard, or I'll pull my trigger right now and blow his head off.”
Again Edward's angry words sounded terrible to Lizbeth. However, she could not let her husband kill her own mother despite what had happened all this time. “I just want to listen to the reason,” said Lizbeth grasping her husband's hand gently. “Can I meet him?”
“No! Notnot now. I won't let him near you at this time,” Edward insisted uncontested.
There was a knock before a doctor came in with a nurse who was following him.
“Good afternoon, mistress. I'll check your circumstances.” Edward lets the doctor check on Lizbeth's condition. “How is my wife?”
“So far there is nothing serious to worry about. It's just that I hope the madam doesn't get any more heavy shock as well thinking of something that can weigh her down. Content with a young age like this is still very sensitive, I hope you can take good care of it,” explained the doctor at length.
Edward nodded without uttering any words. “When can I go home?”
Lizbeth's question made Edward stare in dislike and the doctor gave a friendly smile.
“Make sure you don't look pale anymore and I'll allow you to go home.”
Lizbeth sighed, does she look that weak right now? “I'm sorry,” said goodbye to the doctor before walking out. “Time to eat, I'll bribe you.”
Lizbeth. “Can I meet with Dmitry?” “After you eat I will let you meet them, Dmitry, Alexa and Louis.”
Edward had already thrust a spoonful of porridge in front of his wife's mouth with a serious look that he did not want to refuse, Lizbeth could only obey by opening his mouth and began to chew bribes after mouthfuls.
“You should also eat.”
“I had lunch last afternoon, besides it is still afternoon and I will eat again later tonight,” lie Edward.
How could he possibly have lunch? Since Lizbeth was unconscious, the man did not move away from his wife for a second. “I know you lied,” said Lizbeth who of course back ignored by her husband.
Edward gave a glass of water to his wife after Lizbeth finished his meal.
“Sleep, you have to rest a lot.”
Lizbeth glared furiously at her husband's casual remark. “You promised to let me meet Dmitry, Ed!”
Edward sighed and then moved to call out to Dmitry who was still outside. Rejecting Lizbeth's desire since his wife was pregnant was hard for Edward.
“Come in, Lizbeth looking for you.”
Dmitry quickly steps in to see her sister, while Liana is seen sitting in a chair next to Alexa and Louis. Edward walked over and stood in front of Liana.
“Can we talk?”
Liana swallowed her saliva looking at Edward's current frightening expression, a flash of anger clearly visible on the blue iris of the man who was his daughter-in-law.
Edward raised his eyebrows next to Liana's reply. The man took out his hand which he had put in his pants pocket.
“Don't worry, I'm not carrying a gun. At least I'm still sane not to hurt you unless you go back and endanger my wife and our future child.”
In her heart, Liana was happy to hear how unfortunately Edward with his son and future grandchildren would be even though he could not be denied he was afraid of the man's anger.
Edward looked straight at the woman sitting in front of him. Liana looked scared to be around him and it made Edward sigh.
“I won't be pleasantries anymore. What is your purpose behind all this? You betrayed and after that appeared like a hero in front of everyone?” Edward was still looking straight at Liana who was still silent.
Slowly the woman set her eyes on the window glass next to her and ignored Edward's sharp gaze. Liana's brain returns to them a re-occurrence of events decades ago that she will never forget. The woman then looked at Edward before opening her voice.
“They consider me a traitor because they don't know the truth. You must have been eaten with Gustavo.” bullshit
Edward frowned and seemed to think about what Liana said, but Edward still kept silent to let the woman continue her story.
“I could not have betrayed my family especially after the presence of two children who managed to complete our family. I also can't possibly pit two families who are already very close like blood relatives.” Liana took her breath for a moment before returning to continue her story.
“The split happened because Gustatvo, who continued to obsess over me, did everything possible to get me even though it was clear I was married, even Gustavo did not hesitate to declare war openly with my husband. All the ways that Gustavo did never produce good results and instead, he got worse with his stupid obsession.”
Liana's green eyes were looking at the distant events that had passed. “Gustavo who incidentally is a friend of Vladmir, easily influenced your father with silly things that say that my husband likes your mother.”
Liana smiled and looked into Edward's blue eyes. “What is this surprising to you?”
Edward cleared his throat and again normalized his expression that had stiffened.
“My husband and your mother are just little friends protecting each other, and do you know how tough your mother used to be? She always won battle practice against ten agents belonging to your father on the grounds that your mother wanted to prove herself strong, not weak and not a woman who would cry just because of the rigors of life.”
Edward was again surprised, slowly longing and tightness made his eyes heat up and almost shed tears.
Imagining how great the figure of the mother he had made the man want to run and hugged his mother tightly told how cruel the world he had been facing all this time, shedding his grievances also tells how lucky he was to be raised in a good and loving family.
“Then?” That was the only sentence Edward could say to ask the continuation of Liana's story.
“Then, slowly the influence made by Gustavo managed to make your father's trust waver. At first he only limited the family meetings that we often do in between busy until finally Vladmir and my husband got into a cold war. Things got worse when Gustavo kidnapped me and your mother who was pregnant with her second child tried to save me.” “And my father thought that mother went with Mr Kostov?” Liana nodded. “Accurate once. And can you guess what happens next?”
“Dad attacked the headquarters of Mr. Kostov who was careless because he was only focused on saving you,” replied Edward.
“You are as intelligent as your mother,” praise Liana by gently rubbing her tears that suddenly just drip without permission when remembering how much she misses that tough woman.
“Vladmir thinks my abduction is just not my husband's tick to get your mother. Everything is getting out of control and the action of attacking each other is inevitable, not a single explanation from my husband that was heard by Vladmir.”
“Did mom manage to find you back then?” Ask Edward. Liana shook her head. “Vladmir who found me.”
Edward could not hide the frown on his forehead. Liana understood that all these explanations were getting more complicated and would be difficult to understand. But the woman had to tell the truth so that there would be no more bloodshed between the two families.
“Vladmir found the place where Gustavo held me and then without thinking he blew up the place one minute before I could escape in very bad conditions. Even I'm not sure if there's not even Makarov to save me and take me away and hide me somewhere during my healing process.”
“Didn't Mr Kostov look for you after that? Why doesn't Makarov just take you back to his master and it'll all be over? Then my mom?” Suit Edward with a series of questions.
Liana shook her head. “Tak is that easy. Makarov doesn't want to make things worse because Vladmir is out of control. If I were to reappear alive, Vladmir would again make me a target to paralyze my husband. Then your mother..” Liana felt as if her voice was disappearing due to being too claustrophobic any recollection of Edward's mother whom she already considered to be a sibling.
“Your pregnant mother often experiences unstable emotional changes, especially after learning that Vladmir killed me, your mother can no longer hold back her anger. He went from home and met my husband, Diana always convinced that I was alive and forced my husband to keep looking for me.” Edward could see Liana rubbing her tears several times to make her eyes look swollen due to tears. “My husband refused, he preferred to focus on our two children and tried to let me go because he really could not find any signs that I was still alive. Vladmir is further enraged by the attitude of your mother who chose to help take care of our son, considering that you and Lizbeth are the same age that made your mother feel how much my children need the figure of a mother. It made Vladmir strike back blindly forgetting all the family ties between us that even he ignored your mother's resistance. Diana loves you very much.”
“So that's the reason mom saved to three poor kids amid the split of two families?”
Liana nodded. “Yes, sweet kids who shouldn't feel all this.”
Edward took a breath for a moment, throughout the conversation they were not touched by the two cups of coffee. Even they let the black liquid cool down in vain. It felt like the story this time was much more bitter than the coffee in front of them.
“Then you came back after mom died giving birth to Alexa?” “Ya,” replied Liana slowly who was still heard by Edward. “And I regret disappearing for too long until I have to lose your mother. When I found out I was alive, everyone kept it a secret, including my husband, because we knew that Gustavo was alive and would come back to look for me. My husband entrusted Makarov to protect me, to give up the entire Kostov family fortune for me to manage well, hiding his identity and information because Gustavo's obsession turned to the Kostov family's wealth after knowing how many treasures we have, then slowly we find out the whereabouts of our children including yourself.” Edward nodded slowly. “You're not really looking for us.” “What do you mean?” Liana asked, not understanding Edward's words.
“What do you do after knowing our whereabouts? Picking us up? No, you keep letting those poor kids live in the harshness of the world without knowing who their parents really are, you never know how much those kids miss their parents. Do you know how much we miss a family? Answer!”
Edward kicked the table with a hunting breath that seized the attention also made Liana tiptoe surprised. Edward evaporated all his emotions, rubbed off on his chest and told them how their children longed for the warm embrace of their mother and the peaceful protection of their father. If only this truth were revealed sooner then they would not face the difficulties that many times almost took his life and Lizbeth. Imagining how Lizbeth used to be tormented by the DNA of the system made Edward's emotions explode.
“Do you know that the DNA of the damn system made by your husband nearly killed the son and future granddaughter of the Kostov family?” Edward's hiss while leaning his body with sharp eyes.
Liana shook her head slowly. “It's according to the tradition of the Kostov family. Every female offspring will be given the task of being the key to all our wealth and the male offspring will be tasked to protect. You don't even know how hard it is to find you, we found you after Alexa was twenty years old and even Alexa didn't understand me. Stop blaming us, we just want to keep protecting you. Don't you think what Lizbeth's fate would be if he knew that Kostov's daughter was looking for because she had the key to our family fortune?” Liana said softly without any angry tone there.
Edward pulled his hair in frustration, looking down to control his emotions that had exploded uncontrollably. He did not think that far because he was too angry with the situation. “God has supported our efforts so far by bringing you together, Lizbeth and Dmitry in one complementary bond. After my husband's death God also made it easier for you to find Alexa. It was all out of our plans because I realized that no matter how hard we tried to protect you with many plans, God was still controlling all plans with His power. Next, we just follow where God will show us the way out of all these misunderstandings. I am also grateful that my daughter married the right person.”
Edward flinched then looked up as he felt a soft touch on his shoulder and found Liana already standing beside him.
“I entrust my daughter's life to you, I hope you love her like your mother loves you. I am very grateful to Diana who became the savior of our children, giving new life despite having to fight alone. But, I know that you were not born from the blood of someone who was weak.”
Edward was still glued to his place even though Liana had already walked away from him. In another chair not far from Edward sat, Dmitry was sitting tensely with Alexa. The two men turned out to be quietly following and eavesdropping on Edward and Liana's conversation from the start, their gazes clashing with Edward who began to move from his seat and walked up to the two people who had followed him since.
“I'll break your neck if anything happens to Lizbeth because you left him alone,” said Edward with a directed look at Dmitry who just sighed and walked first to return to Lizbeth's room followed by Alexa behind him who looked afraid Edward would be angry at them after knowing that they were presumptuously eavesdropping on the conversation.
Edward shook his head slowly and walked back to see his wife. Actually from the beginning Edward already knew that Alexa and Dmitry followed him and even eavesdropped on his conversation but he let it go, anyway in this way he did not need to explain to the two people again.
Now how will he explain everything to Lizbeth, understanding to his wife that all this is not Liana's fault. Consciously Edward felt a lump of trouble in his heart that had been stifling slowly shattered, leaving free air ready to be inhaled with his little family later, with Lizbeth and their children.
