Not Salihah's Wife

Not Salihah's Wife
Cost of One Million Rupiah

Randy opened the window.

"What's up, sir?" randy asked the gentlemen outside his car.

"Get out!' shouted one of the.

"Sorry sir, get out first!” tell other people who are more friendly.

Randy opened the door and got out of his car and the rain was gone. The gazes of those extremely unfriendly people were only a wiser looking person who was currently dealing with Randy.

"What is your father doing inside?"

"Waiting for the rain to stop, because I helped my students who were caught in the rain and the bike broke down" explained Randy, pointing at the motorbike that was not far from the car.

"Lies, they're perverts. Let's see for ourselves that woman undressed."

"Wear is wet, I give you a towel and it was done in the back cabin,” explained Randy told more chronological details of the incident why there were women undressing in his car.

Amara who was still in the car did not overhear the conversation that occurred.

"They're talking about what the hell, it looks so serious." The girl grabbed the sweater that was on Randy's bag and put it on.

"Ehhh," cried Amara saw his lecturer will be beaten by one of the residents.

Not long after, Randy got into the car and started the engine.

"Where are you going? How's my bike going?"

"They misunderstood and we were asked to meet the head of the hamlet in this area."

"Misunderstand how?"

Randy sighed, "They think we're doing immoral acts."

"Hahh, crazy times. Gini-gini I am also still sane may not like and so the same om-om," cried Amara of course the statement made Randy offended and turned his head.

"I also have my own standards for the woman I like, where maybe a bar-bar girl like you can make my heart waver."

The sound of a motor horn, Randy also followed the citizen's motorbike that had walked in front of him. Amara is still babbling because she is annoyed to have to engage with her lecturers in the people's territory.

"We're not getting married because of that, are we?"

Randy flinch still at the wheel and follow the bike in front of him.

"Sir!"

"I don't know but a soul mate is God's secret and I hope you're not my soul mate."

"Well, I'm also the same time as a fool there."

It seems they have reached their destination. A classic style house and quite large including the land in front of the house is very spacious. Randy got out of his car one of the residents talked to him and then the man opened the door again.

"You're down!"

“No, I'm going home."

"Down!" randy said in a rather high tone.

"No, you have no right to snatch me."

Randy is a bit of a bear and breathes.

"Let's get off before you get dragged down by them. We're wrong and don't make the situation hotter."

Both eyes of Amara had condensed, annoyed by the problem of his mobile phone and motor then stuck in a situation not wearing as it is today.

"Please sit!" tell one of the men who led the couple.

Randy sat down, but Amara was still standing.

"Rome, sit!" randy's word is clean.

"Who are your names?" ask the man.

"I'm Randy and this is Amara.” Randy deliberately introduced himself to represent Amara instead of the girl speaking impolitely.

"What's your relationship?"

"There's no relationship whatsoever, it's just that he's my student" Randy explained.

"I am Abdul, the head of the hamlet in this region. Tell me what happened to you until the citizens brought you here.”

Randy also explained back to the incident where he found Amara and helped until the residents led him to the house.

"So you're not a muhrim and are in a situation where one of you undresses the whole outfit?" ask Mr. Abdul to confirm the allegations of the citizens with the actual incident.

"Sir Randy just helped me and where's his fault?"

"Mara," said Randy.

"You guys aren't supposed to be muhrim Nak Randy getting out of the car when this girl opens her clothes."

"We apologize, because the emergency was unthinkable to me" Randy said.

"If we don't pass by, you must be messing around" one of the residents accused.

"Make it!'

"Arak around the village," shouted the others.

Mr. Abdul spoke again and explained the norms prevailing in the region.  What happened to Randy and Amara included immoral actions and some even said that both of them would do something.

Randy pulled out his identity card and so did Amara.

“You will be married in series. Contact your parents, I will ask for the right to replace your father to become a marriage guardian.”

“My phone is broken and my father is dead,” Amara said softly and violently for holding back the crying that was ready to shed.

How he wouldn't cry if suddenly he was getting married because of a situation not because of love. Randy turned his head because he felt guilty for Amara as well as for Hana his future wife.

“Then there is no problem, you will get married. What dowry will you give?” ask Abdul to Randy.

“No,” strangle Amara while standing. “I don't want to get married. You misunderstand me, we don't mess around. If you really want to eradicate immoral actions you should go to hotels and nightclubs,” said Amara with a face that was wet because her tears had dripped.

“Amara,” call Randy while holding the girl's hand.

The citizens cheered and scolded Amara. Randy also pulled Amara's hand back to sit, because the situation would get hotter with anger and rejection.

“Nak Amara and Nak Randy, the business out there is none of our business but in this region of course it is our business. Your decision to get married is absolutely in accordance with the social norms in this region,” said Mr. Abdul.

Mr. Abdul called someone and came out a middle-aged woman who invited Amara to come with him. Not long after that the girl again had worn a rather loose robe as well as a scarf.

Randy looked at Amara who was already sitting next to him with puffy eyes and just bowed her face.

“So what's the dowry?”

Randy took out his wallet and took out all the money.

“Only this is what I have, really I do not intend any kind.”

“One million rupiah,” said Mr. Abdul after calculating the amount of money. “This is the amount of the dowry.”

Amara took her breath not expecting her life to be so tragic. Today could be the unluckiest day of his life. Starting from being caught in the rain, the motorbike was damaged, the phone was destroyed and ended up married. The saddest thing is that the wedding dowry is only worth one million rupiah.

“Sorry,” Randy told Amara.
