Not Salihah's Wife

Not Salihah's Wife
Forgive Me

“Hana, are you okay?”

Hana's face was still down even the woman did not answer Randy's curious question and was confused by his wife's attitude. Randy reached out his hand touching the woman's shoulder.

Unexpectedly, Hana was aghast and shifted her seat.

“Sorry, Mom. I'm sorry,” said Hana then cried with both hands covering her face.

Definitely not a sobbing but a crying. Randy is increasingly confused by Hana's behavior when he only touches his shoulder. After all they've been lawful husband and wife, of course Randy's been allowed more than touch.

“Hana, what's up? You're getting me confused,” said Randy.

“Sorry Mas, I was so expecting this marriage and when I found out Mas Randy had even married another woman I was so disappointed and jealous. However, I am not ready to be a full-time wife for Mas Randy,”.

“I still don't understand Hana. What's the matter?”

“Don't divorce me, let us stay in this marriage even though Mas Randy wants us to part ways, at least let our marriage run a year or two,” pinta Hana with a puffy face.

“Hana, I really don't understand what you mean? Why should we talk about divorce when we're just getting married and you know we're married because of Amara's consent which I'm sure the permission she gave wasn't purely from her heart. So explain what's going on?” Randy spoke in a rather high tone.

“One more time I'm sorry Mas, I'm not perfect. I'm really sorry to use Mas Randy and our wedding.”

Randy was putting his hair back together, trying to stay patient.

“Hana, I can't forgive and can't help you if you don't tell me clearly.”

Hana just shook her head, still with a cry.

“We go back to your parents, I need an explanation,” take Randy.

“Mas,” said Hana trying to stop.

“Explain!”

“I can't Mas, please understand.”

I don't know what language to convince Hana that Randy needs an explanation to understand his condition. The man had gotten off the sofa and was already at the door as if serious about his threat.

“Mas,” said Hana while wiping away her tears.

“We meet your parents, I have to ask them directly what's wrong with you.”

“But ...”

“Now, Hana!” Randy said again, Hana finally moved even though her steps felt heavy.

When he got to the lobby, Randy got a call from his father-in-law. It was a coincidence for Randy but it was planned by Hana's parents who had also arrived in Jakarta and asked where they were.

“We wait for Mr. Kyai,” said Randy then said hello and ended the call. “Your father is already in Jakarta, he will meet us. Why do I suspect this is your plan?”

Hana who did not know the intention of her parents following her only shook her head without making a sound.

...***...

Finally, Hana's parents, also a newly married couple, sat together. Hana is sitting next to Maya's mother, while Kyai Amir is separated on a single sofa as well as Randy.

Randy had so many questions in mind about the current situation. Starting with Hana's attitude then her two in-laws who apparently followed them to Jakarta when Randy would visit to ask what was wrong with Hana's attitude.

“You must be wondering with our presence here,” Kyai Amir said. “Submit what you want to ask then we will explain. Because if we start, we ourselves are confused where to start,” explained Kyai Amir with a weak and sad voice.

Randy looked at Hana who was sitting opposite him and was currently being embraced by Maya's mother.

“I don't understand what's wrong with Hana, she suddenly gets scared and cries but doesn't explain the cause.” Randy recounts what Hana said.

“I kept up the marriage with Amara, betrayed the relationship and marriage plans with Hana because I didn't want to toy with the marriage. However, Hana instead asked me to divorce her for another year or two. Why did Mr. Kyai ask me to marry Hana if he planned to split.”

“At least with Hana's status as a widow is in accordance with her physical condition,” said Randy's father-in-law made the man increasingly clueless.

“Abi, you better tell me what happened and Hana's condition.  Randy Hana's husband and there should be no secrets between them,” interrupted Maya's mother.

“What is it?” randy asked as he stared alternately at Hana and her parents.

“Let Umi deliver,” said Ibu Maya. “Before we apologize for keeping a secret about Hana's condition before you got married. After Nak Randy proposed to Hana and you started preparing for the wedding, there was a disaster on Hana. He got the harassment, we were in a dilemma then. If we report, the public will know Hana's condition and Hana is traumatized. We chose to focus on Hana's condition, the doctor has stated that Hana's psychiatric and psychological condition has been declared cured of the trauma.”

Randy could not comment, he just lowered his face.sounding a sobbing of Hana who was in his mother's arms.

“That's why Abi asked you to marry Hana today too, though it's wrong that we didn't tell her about Hana's condition. If Hana's okay, I won't let you get married. Nak Randy can continue the household with Amara and Hana will find her soul mate but her condition is other. Abi asks for help to save Hana's honor. Although you are not willing to marry Hana with all her shortcomings, please be patient for at least one year,” said Ibu Maya with a raucous voice because it held back tears.

Randy rubbed his face, not only did he feel lied to but he had hurt Amara's feelings in order to help the woman before him.

“Does Randy want to help Hana to continue your marriage?” ask Kyai Amir.

“Pak Kyai knows for myself that I don't want to play with marriage, there's no way I'm saying I'm not marrying Hana because of her condition.”

“One more thing, Nak Randy,” Kyai Amir said. “If you will still run the wedding please keep Hana's condition secret from anyone, including your first wife,” pinta Kyai Amir.

Randy sighed, for him, the two marriages that were run were a pretty heavy life ordeal for him. Although with Amara finally he can accept the opposite even there is love.

“How's Randy? Even if not ready, we will bring Hana back,” said Mother Maya

Randy raised his face to look at Hana who was still sobbing and placated by his mother. Not the woman's fault, nor her fault let alone Amara's fault. However, the three of them were indeed advised to be in such a situation.

“I understand with Hana's condition, what happened in the future no one knows but for now I will try to keep Hana's honor to keep her condition a secret.”

“Alhamdulillah,” said Ibu Maya and Kyai Amir together.

I'm sorry Amara, you have to be side by side as my wife.
