Mystery of Room 13

Mystery of Room 13
Part 1: The Discovery of a Terrible Body

The foul scent rippled out and pierced the nose, getting stronger even to the stomach of everyone it felt like wanting to take out all of its contents when the door of the room that had been locked for a long time was forcefully opened.

"Geez!" automatic screams came out from every mouth that was there as their eyes caught the terrible thing that was in the room number thirteen.

A woman had her head hanging from a fan attached to the ceiling of the room. While his body that had been torn to shreds was just lying on the floor. The floor of the room that was supposed to be white now turned brown due to the blood that had dried up. Not only that, many maggots began to gnaw at the woman's head and body.

"Do you know who this woman is?"

All the inhabitants of Indekos shook their heads. No one knows who the woman whose body is so terrible. A police officer who broke down the door immediately contacted his partner for help.

"I want to meet the owner and the person in charge of this place." The young policeman circulated his gaze to everyone in the dominant green index. Everyone fell silent and lowered their heads without daring to look into the eyes of the Brigadier-ranked male eagle. "I also asked several people, including those of you who live close to this room."

"Nobody comes in here so no evidence is lost."

A tragic Sunday morning, an unidentified body was found in terrible condition. Police continued to investigate the case, but were unable to reveal the identity of the victim because the woman's face was destroyed and fingerprints had been damaged and who was the mastermind of the murder was not revealed, everyone was in their place at the time of the incident.

In the end, the case was stopped and no one reported losing their family.

......................

A stinging sun greeted me from the first time I set foot in this foreign city. My footsteps stumbled because I had to carry a large bag and cardboard containing some raw food ingredients.

Every now and then I glanced at the paper shreds containing the addresses of the indecos I wrote myself. The green building was right in front of me. Some of the paint began to peel off in some parts of the walls of this building, the color began to fade, no matter how long the building is not repainted by the owner.

I knocked on the rusted iron gate slowly. After a long time of waiting, a middle-aged woman opened the door. The woman held a mop when she came out.

"What's wrong?" The woman's words stopped when she saw me carrying a large bag, "Mother Hanna?"

"Yes, Mom. I'm Hanna, who wants to stay here."

"Oh, yes. Please come in, Ma'am."

Wati, the woman's name. He was the one who was given the trust by the owner of the index to clean this building. The woman took me to the room I would occupy later. Room number thirteen is located at the very end of this three-story building.

"This room is cleaned and ready to be occupied." The woman opened the door. I was quite impressed with this room, it turns out that even though this building looks dull outside it turns out to be very different from this room. The walls in the room were like freshly repainted. The soothing scent of lavender wafted as soon as the door opened. The floor of the room was also different from the one outside. If outside using white ceramics, inside the ceramic room cool blue.

"May be at home, Ma'am. Here's the key, if you need anything just come to my room on the second floor."

I started to enter a room that was quite relieved and had a bathroom in it. I arranged the clothes in a small closet provided by the owner of the index. I will rest for a while before I get acquainted with the other residents.

I lay down my body on the mat that looked like it was new. Wati's mother was right, this room can be occupied immediately because before my arrival has been swept and dipel to kinclong.

I folded the blue prayer rug my mother gave me a few months ago, just a day before she came back to the Creator.

"Sir, no matter how hard your life will be. Remember there is a place to complain. Compose this hard. "Mother said as she patted the prayer mat she had just bought. My tears welled up every memory of my mother.

The roar of the motor entering the grounds made me immediately wipe away the tears. That must be the sound of the other occupant's motor. I went out to say hello to them. However, I could see shock on their faces as I exited the room.

"Well! That's the room anyone occupies?" The two girls wearing the same clothes looked at each other. They seem to be workers in the same factory. I swung a step to approach them with a smile.

"Assalamualaikum, introduce me Hanna, the new occupant in room thirteen," I said as I reached out to a girl who had not even taken off her helmet as her eyes kept watching me.

"Wa-waalaikumsalam, I'm Wulan." The girl gasped as she answered me even my hand was returned after her partner touched the girl's shoulder. My hands and eyes are on another girl.

"I'm Intan. You just moved in?"

"Yes, I'm from Ungaran. I want to work in a factory not far from here. Where do you work?"

"We work in a drug factory."

After quite a while chatting in front of the yard, I asked them to stop by my room because I wanted them to taste the typical meatballs Ungaran made by my brother. Wulan's face paled as I offered to do so, while Intan immediately refused.

"Whenever we stop by or you just play in my room. My room's on the third floor number 35."

"Yes, Han. Now just come with us up." Wulan who had been silent and stiff also spoke. It seemed like they were sincerely inviting me, so I hurried to pick up a box of souvenirs to eat together with my new friends.

I sat in their room. Their room was the same size as mine just looked more dull. The walls are like the outside of this building is green and slightly peeling. Maybe on this floor it's a lot cheaper than my room so it's purposely left untreated.

"You two live in this room?" I asked both of them as we relaxed in their rooms.

"Yes, to reduce the cost of living in this expensive city. Moreover, I have to send money for my son's school fees in the village, "said Wulan while picking out meatballs.

"Lho, instead of indekos here is cheap huh. My room is only two million annually."

"Of course your room is so cheap. Your room's haunted." I looked at Intan who was in pain from being pinched by her arm by Wulan after saying that.

"Helped?"
