“Tok-tok-tok!” the sound of knocking on the door distracted Disa who was in her room.
“Kak reza!” the thrill of seeing someone standing at the mouth of her bedroom door was Reza.
“Hay, I'm bothering you?” Reza leaned her body on the door leaf Disa with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
“Ngak. Here I am again hp nyari want to call doctor austin but instead forget naro.”
“Kak reza is long ago?” Can stop for a moment the event ransacked his room to look for hp. While working Disa is rarely holding her phone, only occasionally when she has to contact others like now.
“Ngak, just arrived. Mamah wants to meet aunty arini, he said kangen. Understandably, mothers are not strong if they do not gossip.”
“I helped find ya. Can enter?”
“Em yes.” A little hesitant but Disa finally allows Reza in.
Reza noticed Disa's room which had no change from the last one she tidied up. What was different only now was that there was already a thin curtain covering the window of his room.
They started looking for Disa's phone. Starting from the closet, under the bed, under the pillow and blanket but nothing.
“Where are ya? That feeling I put here deh.” Staring over his bed while scratching his head in confusion. He was very sure that he put a cell phone on his bed but now there is nothing.
“Yes don't panic, I'll call you.” Seeing the confused Disa was heartless. He immediately dialed Disa's mobile number but turned out to be inactive.
“Active power sa.”
“Ag yes I forgot. I just changed the sim card because the previous one was charred.” If it has fallen, it is often hit by stairs like the one in Disa. Because he rarely uses his phone until he forgets that the active period of his card is up.
“Yes it's quiet, we search below, who knows you naro in the kitchen or elsewhere maybe?” trying to calm Disa down by rubbing her shoulders. Disa just nodded and immediately came out of her room.
“Eh brother! I guess you're sleeping.” Reza cried when he passed Kean on the stairs of his house.
“Ngak. You been a long time?” Kean embraced his best friend as he always did.
“Belom. Not yet sampe in suguhi coffee.” Tempted Reza while turning to Disa who is still with a confused face considering her phone.
“Why?” Kean was indeed sensitive to the business of seeing the change in Disa's expression.
“She forgot naro hp but just wanted me to call, even not active. Said change number.” Bright Reza.
Kean was annoyed. Since when did Reza become the female spokesperson before her?
“Habuak.” grumbled Kean who can still be heard Disa. Disa could only duck, cursing her stupidity. “Ya have you called, 082.”
“Lo inget bro?” instead of pressing the keypad button, Reza was fixated waiting for Kean's answer.
“Udah, would you like to call gak?”
“Oh yes sorry, how much was it?”
Kean began to mention the twelve-digit number Disa. Disa was only fixated while staring at the face of her young master. Kean did help him change the simcard but he did not expect that Kean even remembered the number.
“Tuh, the sound is still in the room.” Reza dizzy looking for the source of the sound.
With Disa running immediately, it seems she knows where her phone is.
“Aahh.. Thank goodness.” Disa can sigh of relief when she found her phone was in the bathroom sink. Sloppy indeed. When washing hands, Disa put her phone there and even forgot.
“Ter-” will just say thank you, Kean is no longer at his bedroom door.
“Kean has dropped just now.” Show Reza to the first floor.
“Oh yes kak.” very fast Kean disappeared even though he had not been able to thank you. Disa held her phone firmly so as not to forget to put it again and troublesome many people.
“Oh yes sa, mr. hilman wants to marry his son. He hugged me. You want to come?” bargain Reza suddenly as they descend the stairs.
“Oh yes? When?”
“Future tuesday. Can you please nemenin me?” Reza stopped his steps at the last step and looked at Disa who was still surprised to get Reza's invitation.
“Em me,” confused also answer. Maybe he decided on his own.
“Where are you going?” Arini who was watching tv with Nita heard their conversation.
“Em, anu aunt. Reza wanted to visit one of his lecturers first. Can you not tan?” bravely Reza asked permission directly to Arini.
Arini glanced at her son who was engrossed in his cell phone even though he knew Kean was still listening to their conversation.
“Bby. Why 'not?” sahut Arini who again glanced at Kean. He wanted to know what his son's response was like when he heard his answer. And it turned out Kean was just speechless, not chiming in one bit. “When is the show?”
“Wah thanks aunt. This tuesday. Malem is at his show. The theme is night party.” Called the theme of the party that usually requires guests to wear neat dresses and suits.
“Bby. They rarely come out anyway. At home continue nemenin aunt. Once you play with him let him not bosen.” Arini was like giving a green light to Reza, something that was difficult to get all this time.
“Wah, can aunt?” reza happily approached Arini and sat down next to him.
For a long time Reza tried to invite Disa to walk or just have dinner together but Disa always refused on the grounds that she had to do her job.
“Bby dong. Used to be the same age, aunt and mamah you often really go around. Shop, watch or hunt for food to more popular places. Youth should be enjoyed. Is it ta?” Arini began to recite, telling passionately about her youth.
“Iya dong.” Nita starts chiming in to make their story even more exciting.
Finally Reza got a chance. He turned to Disa with a line of smiles and Disa returned with a faint smile.
Unlike Reza, his heart is not sure it should be as happy as it is to get a chance to meet Reza more often. Like something's stuck.
There was one person who seemed to be starting to get caught off guard. Kean, yes the young master chose to go and enter his room. He passed by Disa who was still on the stairs, without saying a word. He did not even glance, making Disa's feelings unpleasant.
He was still looking at Kean until his young master went into the room and did not come out again. It's really uncomfortable for Kean to behave like this. Maybe his young master did not like Disa's plan to accompany Reza to the meeting. He knew, by agreeing to Reza's invitation, he abandoned his obligation to look after Arini.
“Sa, here we chat.” Call Nita to Disa who is still grumbling.
“Oh yes bu.” Although hesitant, Disa finally joined in a casual chat typical of mothers. Accept it and occasionally chimed in even though his mind was not entirely here.
*****
The night was completely late, the atmosphere was already very quiet. Disa has changed clothes, removed her uniform and changed with a t-shirt and training pants that she used to sleep. He closed his window which was still open and only realized that the balcony door had not been closed.
“Duh, almost forgot to close the window. It's me why the whole day's feeling a lot of unfocused?!”
Tapping his own head which is all day a lot of misnomer. If he says his mind is heavy, not really. Nothing significant disturbed his mind. What makes them often fail to focus?
Walk out of the room and onto the balcony. When he was about to close the balcony door, he felt a breath of fresh night wind and made him close the door. He walked out of the balcony, looking at the surrounding garden that was starting to quiet. From his place he saw the green foliage moving in the wind with the beautiful light of incandescent lamps.
Perhaps this was the reason why Kean often stayed silent here. The place is soothing and fun.
He was embracing his own body. Only now feels pagalnya after just exercising. If in these calculations sports Disa the heaviest. Usually just to move to and fro, lifting gallons, lifting garbage bags or pedaling bicycles.
This morning, the car was more quality. Kean became a good instructor, training him patiently even though he seemed a little fierce. Strongly maybe that means.
He said, Disa exercise this time is equivalent to burning calories two packs of rice paddies. Hah, considering the rice paddies make her stomach hungry again. I don't know when the last time he enjoyed rice with sambal ijo and cassava leaves. Its plentiful gravy and thick beef always make its appetite soar. When else could he enjoy a cheap but filling meal of it.
Standing here made Disa able to sigh deeply. Feeling the gust of wind that hit his face made Disa squint her eyes. His memory brings Disa to the conversation a moment ago with Arini.
Before going to bed, the big lady asked to be accompanied. They chatted for a while before Arini really fell asleep. One habit Arini before going to bed is to ask to apply a medicated cream to several parts of his body. He said that even during sleep his skin could lack fluid so he had to use the cream before going to bed.
“You've known Reza for a long time?” the unexpected question was suddenly asked by Arini. Maybe because he looks familiar with Reza.
“Lumayan lama mistress.” Can answer with what is. Counting how long he had known Reza.
“According to you, what kind of reza is he?” Arini looked at Disa from the mirror reflection and noticed the girl who was smearing her back with cream.
Arini noticed Disa's smile rising as she gave Reza a judgment, quite curious. A man's good boundaries for a girl are too special.
“If compare my son, which is better?” arini's question began to conical and for a while Disa stopped her hand movements.
“What should I compare mistress?” arini's question is a little strange according to Disa. A mother will usually be very angry if her child is traded with others but Arini instead asked for his opinion.
“Yes. Why not?” arini's answer sounded certain. “Reza and Kean have been friends since childhood. After I reza easily familiar with the opposite sex but kean, I have never even found a photo of a girl in her room what else tells about the woman in adoration.”
“Sometimes when I ask, he gets angry. Weird isn't it?” This time Arini asked with her confused face.
Being able to come to think, he tried to imagine the figure of his young master that he remembered. “Maybe the young master is not the type who is open about his feelings. Em, what yes, people call it. Introvert.” Disa smiled proudly successfully remembering that term.
“Means?” Arini asked back.
“Mistress, are we okay talking about a young master like this?” Disa whispered a little while mentioning her young master. Worried sounded.
“It's okay.” Arini looks relaxed. Like there is no burden.
“I need your opinion. For 20 years, I was too selfish. Busy feeling sorry for yourself without caring for the surrounding environment, including my son.”
“He grew up to be an independent child who was not whiny, never complaining. All his attention was on me.”
“I didn't realize time was so fast passing that suddenly I saw my son was already a grown man taking care of all his own needs. He does not want to depend on others. He was always there for me but I missed many opportunities to accompany him when he needed me.”
“Maybe that makes kean can not express his feelings or desires until sometimes I am afraid to interpret my son's true wishes.”
Arini's face looks sad. His eyes looked teary. It seems like a lot of regret that he has saved.
“Now I want to accompany my son. Understand more of what he feels and needs. I hope I'm not late.” His head wiped his dripping tears.
Just a big smile that Disa showed. Sometimes he envies seeing Kean's closeness to his mother. As all the attention of his young master was only on this one woman without being able to refute anything.
And right now Disa is imagining that she still has a mother who loves her like Arini. Maybe he will feel more confident in what he thinks or feels. Having someone as a place to share feelings can make us dare to show feelings.
Kean had a chance and he didn't.
“Young master is a good person. He has a soft heart, although sometimes he shows his feelings in different ways. But, the young mistress and master are very lucky to have each other.” Tandas Disa at that time.
If he remembers his own words, he wants to laugh. How dare he judge who his young master was for no fundamental reason. He was even only judging at a glance, because understanding what Kean was thinking and feeling was too difficult. Kean never gave anyone a chance to guess his feelings.
Out of his mind about the conversation with Arini, Disa again felt her body was still sore. He tried to stretch his hand muscles. Slightly banging him also massaged him. It better feel. He bent his body and held on to the edge of the balcony. When her spine is a little interested it feels very delicious.
“You haven't slept?”
“Gosh!” Disa gasped at Kean's sudden voice.
He immediately straightened his body and held his hair that was decomposed because it was not tied. Can his young master fly until he does not hear his footsteps?
“Goodnight sir. You haven't slept?” it felt so embarrassed to imagine Kean seeing what he was doing just a moment ago.
“You think I can sleep on the road?” he approached Disa.
“Heheheh.. Not particularly. O yes, is there anything you need?” just realized that he was wearing a sleep stellan. He thought his young master was already sleeping so he dared to come out without wearing his uniform.
“I want to take a drink. What are you doing out here tonight?” staring at Disa with her flat expression.
“So my intention was to close the door but the wind was fresh. So hang out for a while here.”
“Master wants a drink? I'll get ya. Wait a minute.” He quickly passed when Kean had not given him the order.
Sometimes Disa is too chatty, too understanding.
“Please mr.” Can offer a glass of water along with a plate of cake. It was possible that his young master wanted to snack because he had not eaten much.
“Sit.” Declared.
“Thank you sir.” Disa sat in a chair that was only blocked by a small table from Kean.
“Mamah has slept?” a piece of biscuit went into his mouth. It looks good too.
“Already sir. After taking the medicine and smearing the cream, the mistress went straight to sleep.”
“Your hand why?” pointing at Disa's bluish-looking arm.
“Oh this.” Just realized that his hands were slightly bruised and bluish. “Maybe just surprised his muscles because suddenly heavy exercise.” Hiding his hands from the arm of the chair. Siding may be better for Kean to no longer notice his arm.
“Should if you are not strong sports like before, do not force. What a hard thing it is to refuse.” Lah, his young master is starting to gas.
“Heheheh.. I was curious about the tool. I usually watch it on TV or in magazines. But just saw it directly so want to try it.” Diplomaticize it.
“But it seems like I only fit a bike, broom and mop. That's enough to make me sweat.” I am relaxed.
Hearing Disa's sniffle made Kean smile thinly. Random is also the coach. There was a bit of curiosity as he recalled the sentence Disa had just said.
“Why do you love riding a bike so much? It will make your legs bigger.” Asking and poking is indeed different thin huh. Like eating flour in which there is shrimp.
“Em because, when I ride my bike, I always feel that my father is behind me and holding the splint. I am not afraid of falling and do not feel alone.” he admitted with a smile expanded, like remembering a flashback of his memories a few years ago.
“Then, my father's time was still there. If I cry, I am usually told to ride a bike. He said to let his tears dry with the wind. So my eyes aren't red because of my cut."
"Strange indeed, but it worked. In a few moments, my tears were dry and my feeling was better.”
“Maybe it was just a way to divert my grief first. The way my father entertained me.” recalls Disa. I don't think he wants to end his daydream.
Kean watched Disa closely. He did not expect that a simple question about bicycles made Disa reminisce about her past.
“It looks like you really love your father.” Kean stopped his chewing and put the rest of his biscuits on the plate. Listening to the story of Disa seems more interesting.
“Iyaa, I love my father very much.” he admitted with the eyes fixed far ahead there.
“I have never met my mother.I only know the mother of the last painting my father made."
"He was the only person who filled my memory with many beautiful things during my 5 years of age.”
“Unfortunately, my chance to be with dad, nothing more. He died in the hospital ER room due to his lung disease.” Disa looked at Kean with a smile that he was trying to show. He is sincere but forgetting is not easy. He tried to be strong, but not that strong.
“I not only lost the figure of a father, but I also lost the opportunity to feel more happiness.” Can be bowed listlessly. I don't know why he misses his father so much. His voice, his laughter, his smile, and everything was like dancing in his mind.
“Losing someone as you feel, isn't it better than having someone but not feeling there?” Kean asked in a soft voice. As if he was muttering what he felt.
“At the very least, they leave you with wonderful memories. Without regrets.” He looked at Disa.
Disa smiled thinly. I think he's starting to understand Kean's direction.
“Nobody felt better after leaving the master. It leaves good or bad memories. Being alone is scary. We don't know who to take refuge in.”
“And when someone we can care about is still there, for me the opportunity is better. We can fix things together, have better memories and give more affection."
"Trust me sir, there is no better loss among the many reasons to lose someone. We'll just have to regret.” Continue with full of seriousness.
Kean no longer chimed in. He turned his eyes forward. And so is Disa. They are both immersed in their own thoughts, understanding what they are talking about.
“Trust me, there has never been a loss that feels better. Everything always leaves a wound.”
