Dream Smile

Dream Smile
Episode 4

The school hours were over, and I immediately continued my work to work. There was nothing else I thought about but getting to the destination or the bad feeling that came to my mind, nothing.

But I was so surprised when after changing into work clothes and going to the store, my steps stopped because there was one of the store employees who was calling me.

"Juice, wait," he said.

"What's Sari?" ask her. I saw that he was a little unwell to start a voice, as seen from the stances shown to me.

"What's wrong, don't scare me," I said so he'd like to talk.

He seemed to take his breath for a moment. "So Bu Amira the owner of this store said, you are for an unspecified time removed from work" he said.

Suddenly I was surprised and after that I asked with a tone that sounded weak. "Why—?"

"Yesterday customers who had you serve complained with Ms. Amira. You are patient, and I hope you can change for a better job" Sari said, patting me on the shoulder.

This time he also held out a white envelope to me. "It's a deposit from Ms. Amira, you accept," he said, pulling my hand and echoing the envelope into mine.

I also just nodded and tried to smile even though it certainly looks like my smile is insincere. After that Mbak Sari passed into the store continued his work.

While I was sitting languidly in the locker room looking at the envelope in my hand. Seeing the results of my efforts, working only for a day afterwards is not needed anymore.

"Can I not work?" my mumbling turned to look at my palm with tears welling up.

I walked while guiding my bike. Walking slowly while staring at every store that I passed, it was written that job vacancies were attached near the door of the store. But after walking for miles, I did not meet a single notification of the store needed employees.

I was tired, and now I choose to sit for a moment on the shoulder of the road with a bicycle I put it not far from where I was sitting. The sun is not so hot, because it is late afternoon. Now there was a noise around me, after I circulated my gaze, it was seen that some children were engrossed in playing football. They scramble one object with footsteps to and fro, not afraid of getting tired let alone injury. Their laughter looks very pure and again there is no burden in them.

In the past, I was too. But now the increasing age of all the problems it feels to be present endlessly, let alone I know humans have needs that must be met. I took a deep breath, and I'm spending my day now.

The day of class has arrived, just like last day the report cannot be taken. I am still at home while finishing my homework. When I was about to take a broom I looked at the phone notification on the table. From the message I see now on there I still rank one. A smile rose on my lips after I resumed my homework. But suddenly there was the sound of knocking on the door from the outside, rushing me towards there.

"Who are you looking for?" I asked after opening the door. Judging from the appearance of the people standing in front of me, they look fierce people who look like thugs. I also tried to gulp my salivary, suddenly there was a feeling of fear and my nape was now shaken with horror.

"Is this Mr Teddy's house?"

I nodded too. "What do you need are you here looking for my Father?"

One of the people in front of me is now holding out a piece of paper to me. With a little hesitation I grabbed it and after I read it, I was made to stumble because it was clearly written and the letters were printed in bold. "THIS HOUSE IS IN SITA"

"The fathers must have been misaddressed" I said trying to deny.

My breath suddenly felt so crowded, the house was confiscated because the loan money could not be returned at a predetermined time. When is the debt, my mind.

"What's this?" my mother's voice, she's coming from behind.

The people in front of me now explained their arrival, Mother also felt the same way, shocked like me.

"Evacate this house within 24 hours, tomorrow I must see this house is ready to be used by others" said the person.

"But we do not borrow money or deal with you, why do the Fathers want to rule us. You have a right because this is our home" I said defending.

"You are right not to borrow, but your father who has borrowed money and this house is used as collateral," he firmly and now shows a letter of agreement containing a signature as well as a fingerprint that reads the name of my Father.

"But you can't do this, your business is with my Father and you should have done this with him" I said.

"He ran away and of course the debt must be paid immediately" he said in a rising voice.

"Love me time, I'll pay off the debt" my mother pleaded.

But one of the people here was screeching cynically while laughing mockingly. "Pay what? I'm sure you don't have any money either. Or—," he said, stopping while thinking, for a moment looking at me with a joyous smile. "We can exchange, I bring your daughter and the house remains yours" he said with a mocking smile at us.

I immediately shuddered in horror, Mom pulled my arm to hide myself behind her back. "Then give us time to pack up" my mother said later.

Before they left, they gave a warning. And threatening that if they don't follow their words in emptying this house, they'll take me instead.

"Mom—," I said in protest.

"We have no other choice" said my mother now sitting on a chair in the living room, her eyes radiating sadness and disappointment, very clearly visible.

"It's all Dad's fault" I said emotionally. "If you don't go and bring a land letter, today's incident will not exist. If this house is vacated we should stay where," I said, sitting next to my mother. This time I cupped my face hiding my tears.

Mom then grabbed my shoulder and held myself into her arms. "After this we're looking for a place to live" said my mother to calm down.

"But where?" my little girl who is still in her arms.

Suddenly, I pulled myself out of Mom's arms and said, "Why if Ayu comes with them, let Mother and Zahra stay here."

Mother was surprised by my words and immediately pulled myself in her arms, feeling her embrace me tightly. "Son, however and whatever happens, I won't let you take them" said the mother firmly and emphatically.

"You don't know Ayu yet, life is louder out there" she said in a hushed voice.
