Ayu quickly picked up her phone as it appeared ringing the phone in her grasp. As fast as lightning Ayu's eyes turned on the phone screen and saw the name listed there, it was his hope vanished. It wasn't Kevin who called but his cousin-in-law, Soraya.
Dehemated. Ayu immediately raised the call. "Yes Ma'am? Hello."
"Hallo Ayu's. How are you doing? Oh yes Ma'am would like to give word of all the invitations for the next two weeks. You've heard from Maak's cousin, Angel will have a wedding. Your special family invites you. You go home, go on leave early."
Ayu's forehead wrinkled, remembering Soraya's cousin?
"Where? Can right? He's a close relative of Mommy. His brother is Kevin" Soraya explained.
"Oh... " Sahut Ayu Lirih began to understand. "Yes Ma'am, I'll try to go home."
"It's almost night, you get some rest and have a happy birthday. After we go home, we celebrate together. Take good care of yourself there and Ma'am hang up, see you," Soraya said, and after Ayu responded by muttering the phone connection was cut off.
Dumping the phone next to where he was sitting, Ayu's gaze was shifted to the window. Staring blankly, until the night grew more and more but he let the room remain dark.
A few more hours have been made sure the day will change after clockwise past the number twelve. Along with that a sense of disappointment crawled his chest.
Hoping for the words of others who blatantly say it directly is in fact more painful, rather than harboring their own feelings for others.
Ayu woke up in a daze. Sunlight had barged in from the window with the curtains unclosed overnight. Until a second passed Ayu only realized that she did not move from her place even a little, still on the sofa. He didn't even know when exactly his eyes were closed. And when pulling the phone not far from its place time has shown at six in the morning.
"Sir Kevin didn't come?" yuu muttered full of disappointment.
It felt like she wanted to cry and still clasping her phone tightly, Ayu's finger moved in search of Kevin's contact. Without thinking again Ayu dialed the number, until soon the phone connection began to connect.
"Father lied. He said he'd come?" said Ayu with chest up and down holding back her emotional overflow.
"I've come."
"Overnight" said Kevin in a soft voice.
"But why don't you knock on the door. Picking the bell or breaking the door like you usually do," said Ayu said impatiently.
"You waiting for me?" kevin interrupted.
Swallowed his saliva repeatedly. Ayu tried to control herself and held back her words so as not to sound like an impatient person. But still free, it was difficult for him to hide the thumping in his chest that seemed to want to break down. "Where's father?" say Ayu in the end.
"Come out."
Then Ayu's head turned towards the door. His steps tried to be accelerated by still grasping the phone tightly and sticking it in the ear. The phone connection is still going on, of course Kevin who was across there heard the footsteps of Ayu.
"Bapa where? Nothing?" said Ayu when the door was wide open. His head moved uneasily looking for Kevin's whereabouts.
"In the door handle. I put your prize there," said Kevin.
When Ayu turned her body and did find there were some packages hanging there. But that was not what Ayu wanted but the presence of Kevin.
"I have kept my promise. Happy birthday."
"But you didn't come? How can you say you have kept your promise? Even you said you'd celebrate together."
"It's only been two months. I don't think I deserve to be standing in front of you... " those words that Ayu heard just after she chose to keep her phone away from her ear and no longer wanted to hear anything else that Kevin would say.
Stabbed. It's two months but it feels like Ayu is forcing. It felt like he wanted to ignore that long enough time for him. Then disregarding her logic and becoming a hypocritical woman, surrendering to Kevin has already made her fall...
