Chapters 17. Demon Control

Jack chose to leave the Demon Hunter group and returned alone to live life. He did not want to give up because he believed that one day he could find evidence that Dominic was guilty and should have been punished and ostracized by the Demon Hunters not him.

“I'm used to living alone so I'm not surprised when this happens. I'll find a way to prove Dominic is guilty instead of me,” muttered Jack as he walked away and carried his axe on his back with an elastic adhesive.

A few days later, Jack realized that he was not accepted by the Demon Hunters. Jim and even Lilian also turned cold and stayed away from Jack for no apparent reason.

“Jack still around here. Like people don't have a destination,” said Jim who seemed to dislike when he saw Jack passing by.

“Let's. If you don't like it, at least he doesn't bother us. I also did not expect that he was that hard on the Demon among others,” said Lilian who actually felt sad and also disappointed because she had hoped too much for the man but it turns out Jack was very hearty for others.

Jack actually hears what the people are saying but tries to pretend not to hear it to protect his own heart. Most importantly, Jack has a mission to kill demons and monsters a day at least one. He makes his own mission and runs it alone.

In fact, Jack also did not want to help when he saw there was a Demon Hunter that had difficulty fighting monsters and demons. Quite once he got charged and was considered to have one of the Demon Hunters killed. He no longer cares about others who do not necessarily care about his heart and mind.

“I should pretend not to see when they need help than I get in trouble again. In the meantime, I can explore and stay at the base or go back to the boarding house. Or ... Would I better get back to work?”

Jack is weighing up what decision he will make at the moment. The man felt alone and lonely because none of his friends defended or listened to him first. Now Jack is fully responsible for his own choices.

A monster is seen chasing a child who runs scared and tries to hide in a closed place. Jack saw that and immediately grabbed the axe on his back and released it directly to the monster until it split into two and was destroyed. “Destroyed you monster!”

After the monster died, Jack looked up at the little boy hiding in the basement of the building. “Hai, Son. Do not be afraid and get out of it because the monster has been destroyed,” Jack said with a smile while extending his hand.

“Really, Brother?” The little boy asked in a body trembling in fear because he had been chased by the monster without anyone helping.

Ever since demons and monsters appeared in the human world, many people did not dare to go out at night. Not a secret because the monsters and demons more often around when the sun has set.

“Iya, it's safe. Where is your home? I'll take you home.”

Jack felt sorry to see the frightened little boy and was kind enough to drive him home. Along the way, Jack carried the boy and asked him to speak. It turns out that the boy was looking for his mother who was out of the house without telling first later suddenly saw a monster who was chasing him.

After arriving at a house, Jack asks the little boy to return home and wait for his mother. His mother was there and worried.

“My boy! Where have you been? Mom's looking for you. Never leave home alone, understand?” The woman who looks still beautiful despite having children around the age of seven years was worried.

“Sorry, Mom,” says softly to the boy.

The woman thanked Jack for saving her son. After that, Jack went to his boarding house which was quite messy because of the incident last time.

“Ah, I have to clear all this up, but tomorrow only. I chose sleep.”

The human world becomes chaotic and more chaotic at night. However, everyone is still trying to live well in a region that is otherwise quite safe. Jack is asleep too. He decided tomorrow he would start working again.

Jack grew up to be a more courageous and powerful person. Even at work, Erick, Fred, and Danny get along well with him. But one day something strange happened at work.

“What's with him?” jacob was staring at Fred.

Fred today looks so different. There was a black aura that emerged from Fred's body and could be clearly seen by Jack who was already a Demon Hunter. Lately, Fred's attitude has changed and so rarely speak when previously they were very familiar.

“What's up, Jack?” asked Erick curiously.

“What happened to Fred? He doesn't look all right and these days he rarely hangs out with us and rarely interacts with us, ” Jack said as he looked at Fred who always dodged.

“Maybe Fred is having a problem with the family. Let it go first. If it improves, it will join us again. Right, right, Danny?” Erick did not feel suspicious at all because they were both men who had grown up and sometimes there were problems of its own that could not be said to friends.

What Erick thinks is different than what Jack thinks. Jack approached Fred and held his hand. “Fred? What's the matter? Are you ...”

Jack was shocked as his eyes met directly with Fred. Fred is under the influence of the devil. Jack looked Fred in the eye deeply to dig up the information. What demons are currently controlling and influencing his comrades.

“Why Jack? Do you know Igor?” said Fred with a horrible smile. Igor left a greeting because he could see Jack from Fred's eyes.

Igor is one of the powerful demons. Jack did not expect that his friend could be influenced by the devil. When and where did Fred experience that terrible thing?

“Who's Igor? Fred, are you okay?” Jack tries to pretend he doesn't know Igor and stays focused on communicating with his friends.

But Fred just grinned. Like a moment of loss of consciousness. “Do you not know me? Igor, call my name, Igor. Aren't you one of those who tried to catch me?”

Jack slips. He did not expect that the demon was as bold as challenging himself.
