The Antagonist: The World Ends Theory
Chapter 16 - Sword Against Sword

The sound of swords from Clara and Hendrick clashed with each other. More precisely the sound of Hendrick's sword that almost broke the thin eye of Clara's sword. But in that single slash, Clara managed to scratch the face of her opponent.

Blood was flowing on Hendrick's smiling face. Finally he understood the reason his father had brought this girl back to the Wayne residence. Of course because of his ability that could not be underestimated. Even a Hendrick-class swordsman can still get scratches on the face with just one move.

"Are you going to laugh at me if I lose here?" Hendrick asked on the sidelines of the attack and his escape.

Clara turned her blade back and hit Hendrick in the stomach with the handle of her sword.

"Ughhh!"

"I'm flattered you're starting to acknowledge me at this point. So I'll keep all the taunts for later."

Hendrick, still enduring the pain, pulls Clara's collar and throws it as far as he can.

Although thrown away, when landing Clara still has the balance not to fall to the ground. He held her bloody neck as it was scratched by the blade of the knife.

I didn't expect that his fighting style was so neat like this. If this continues, I can lose.

Clara quickly throws her flagship knife at Hendrick. However the blade could be deflected by his opponent and was now stuck beside Duke Wayne standing up.

"They fought only two, right? Why am I a target too?"

After fending off the knife, Hendrick was confused as to where Clara was going. Because he is not seen anywhere.

Clara suddenly came in front of Hendrick and kicked the man's body. The unprepared Hendrick fell to the ground and before he could get up there was a thin-eyed sword that almost poked his eyes out.

"I didn't think it would be this soon after, when it was quite exciting to watch." Mumbled Duke Wayne, then he approached the spot where Hendrick had fallen.

Clara with the sword that extended into Hendrick's face stood before him and had not changed her position since then until Duke Wayne arrived.

"I'm very fast, aren't I?" Clara said, a smile bloomed on her lips.

Hendrick raised both his hands to sign that he had given up. Then Clara pulled back her sword and sheathed it.

"It's actually quite embarrassing for me to lose to an unknown person like you. Especially in such a fast time." Hendrick immediately got up while taking his sword which had been thrown far back.

"meaning?" Clara became stupid all of a sudden.

"I mean you're the unknown existence let alone his ability. How can you beat Hendrick who has been a swordsman since an early age? So it would be a shame for him to admit defeat to you." Duke Wayne said.

"Oh..." Clara nodded in understanding.

"After all, what the hell were you guys." Duke Wayne looks upset.

"What?" Ask Hendrick and Clara at the same time.

"You have directed all your weapons at me. Though there are many vacant lots that can be used for weapons dumps."

"It wasn't on purpose, Dad." Hendrick said without any guilt.

"Truely, it just so happens that the place you stand is quite strategic. So. You know 'lah."

"Ck!"

"Okay, I'll go to the room first. As for gifts, tomorrow, it's night." Hendrick walked away from the two men.

He was quite surprised by the fact that Clara was better than him. His father actually earned a huge reward after his return from the mission six years ago.

Clara extended her hand in a begging gesture.

Duke Wayne is a wonder. "What's? You need money? So you decided to be a 'woman' now?"

"Not! I ask for my sword."

"You have two advantages as it turns out. I'll give you the sword tomorrow. Don't forget to put on that robe so that your skin doesn't burn." Duke Wayne said with half a mockery and half a joke.

This old duke did ask to be burned by me, well.

...****...

"Avrim, I'm going to Duke Wayne's office before Mr. Hendrick's office."

"Why Miss?" Avrim asked while cutting the apple in her hand.

"I'll take my sword back."

"Eh? Miss will use it to fight?" With a worried tone Avrim asked again.

"No. It's mine, I just take back what's mine. You know Avrim yourself, that I have to protect this family as payment for my life."

"But Miss don't push yourself. Miss when it's a girl, why doesn't this Wayne residence treat Miss like a girl in general?"

"Is that necessary? Duke Wayne also knows that I'm not acting like a noble girl."

Avrim was silent when she heard Clara's last sentence. She would probably dress Clara up and make her as a girl completely from this point on.

After washing himself and changing his clothes. Clara, wearing her big robe, went to see Duke Wayne.

"If you're Clara Scoleths, then come in."

"It's me." Clara opened the door.

"Ah, you came for your sword, right? Just take it there." Duke Wayne pointed at the rose-carved sword hanging on the wall.

"I didn't know it was there." Clara knitted her brows.

"of course. I'll save it before so you don't take it."

"You set me up."

...****...

"I'm sorry I'm late. I have an appointment with the Duke earlier."

Hendrick looked at Clara who was still standing in the doorway.

"I know that. You also came rushing here to get my reward sooner, right?"

"Hehe..." Clara laughed crisply.

Hendrick continued to scratch his pen on a piece of paper. "So, what are you asking for?"

Clara took the right position in front of Hendrick. Her gaze looked to be doubtful and she firmly gripped her robe-clad dress.

After a long breath. Then he opened his voice. "I want to know in detail about me who just came to this residence six years ago. You have to tell me because this is my request as a gift."

Hendrick was stunned, "It's so simple."

"But I don't want to make my curiosity any bigger. I'm sure neither the Duke nor Miss Hellen will open their mouths to tell you this. So, I beg you." Clara's head was slightly lowered.

Seeing Clara pleading, Hendrick was even more confused. The problem is that Clara's old story is not well known to her. As Hendrick had said before, Clara Scoleths was right to avoid it.

"What can I say about you. All right, if it's just the outline. Because I wasn't too close to you at the time either. Also, why are you asking? Have you forgotten your memory?"

"Eh? That's me. You'll know sooner or later. So, please don't ask until that time comes."

"All right." Despite remaining suspicious, Hendrick did not say anything further. Luckily Clara didn't ask him for anything weird.

"..."

"After you arrived about six years ago..."
