Not A Hero
Eps. 04 - City of Viell

Escal was still staring at the guard who confronted him and asked for an identification, saying nothing. He narrowed his eyes, slightly stared intently and instantly the guard felt his body shudder.

I don't know what kind of fear suddenly appeared, as Escal looked at him sharply.

Another guard interrupted immediately as the atmosphere of the two was tense in silence, he looked more amicable than his companion.

“Sorry for the rude attitude of my colleague, Sir. But can I see your ID?” His partner said politely.

Escal looked at him, “I don't have.” in short without further ado.

“If so, you will have enough trouble to enter this city and another city.” The guard was a little surprised.

Escal pensive for a moment, “Then, how to get it?”

“You can make it in guard post now, but in kenai payment cost 1 gold coin.”

“No problem, where is that place?”

The guard pointed to a place near the gate, there were some people there who also seemed to be making Identification Marks containing short biodata.

“Just meet the guy named Tom there, he takes care of the creation of the Identification Mark.”

Hearing him Escal nodded, and immediately left without saying anything. His companion who had been silent since then became furious.

“What the fuck is he? Saying thank you or apologizing just no, instead looking at me like that!” The guard, named Warrick, said that when Escal was far enough.

His partner, Theo instantly panicked a little, he hurriedly placed an index finger on his lips as a gesture to shut up.

“Stt! Don't talk out loud, don't you know the rumor?”

Warrick directly raised one eyebrow, “What rumors?” he asked who knew nothing.

Theo shook his head softly and sighed, “Last night, A strange phenomenon happened. The full moon should be golden white to blue, and it is a sign that the World Gate is open to Warriors.”

Theo enthusiastically explained, of course, no one does not know what Warriors he means, including Warrick.

Warriors, they are the names of people from other worlds who are summoned to Vixcell including Escal. Blessed by the system of the Arveous God who manages the small World of Vixcell, the Warriors will later be led to perform their duties against the upcoming 'Disaster.

People believe that Warriors have great power, compared to people in general because many are reluctant to deal with them.

“Then what does this have to do with the young man?” Warrick did not understand, and it made Theo hit his arm slowly.

“He is unlike anyone from this Kingdom, and has no identification. Could have been one of the Warriors!.” Theo took a breath for a moment.

“.. If not, do you not see the black shape on his neck? It was like a Dragon Tail! The only one who has the Dragon Tattoo as a sign is, Tyrant Drake! You want to deal with them?”

Hearing the greatest Bounty Killing Group in the Western Continent, Warrick was instantly stunned. Of course he didn't want that to happen, or the lives of himself and his entire family would be over.

“Y.. It is possible,” Warrick forcibly swallowed his saliva, fortunately he did not commit more mistakes on Escal.

Although not entirely true, but Escal did intend to kill the person who stopped his path by force and of course, he did not like it if there were people who wanted to restrain him.

Including Warrick, if he can't hold his mouth.

Upon arrival at the guard post, Escal had to wait for some time because there were some people who first wanted to make an identifier. Once completed, Escal paid the manufacturing cost for 1 gold coin then went back to the gate.

The identification can be likened to an Identity Card engraved on a strong light copper plate, and engraved by magic making it difficult to create a false Identification Mark.

As soon as the guards finished checking his authenticity, Escal took back his identification and walked into the city.

Many children play with each other, and people pass by and buy and sell.

Escal grunts softly, “Heh, not bad either.” He muttered without changing his cold expression, but the look in his eyes softened slightly.

"Brugh!"

Suddenly a little boy accidentally hit him for running without seeing the road, and fell while Escal stopped walking. He glanced at the girl who had hit him.

The girl looked quite close, and from her expression she was like frightened. Her clothes were shabby, carrying a piece of bread in her broom.

A few men ran towards the two, the girl was shocked and immediately stood up, hiding behind Escal by pulling his clothes out of fear.

“Basic little fucking thief! Stop there, you have to pay!”

A man pointed towards the girl behind Escal with an angry face. He's been chasing that kid who stole bread from his shop.

The handle on Escal's clothes felt vibrating, of course Escal felt it.

Glancing at the girl for a moment, he looked towards the group of people chasing after him. He then slightly stretched out his hand, gesturing if he did not want to hand over the daughter.

“Hey, what does that mean?! You better hand over the girl!”

One of the men from the group that was chasing the girl said quite loudly.

Escal still only stared at her for a moment, then threw something at the man who spoke and just caught her. When he opened his hand, he was surprised because it was a piece of gold coin.

Ignoring the surprise of the man, Escal said, “That should be enough right?” his tone sounded flat.

The guy snorted, “Already, let's go!”

According to the direction of the man, the group of people went away with a sense of annoyance, even though the money they got was more than it should be.

“It's right? Now take your hands off my clothes.” Escal said coldly, and just as soon as the little girl let go of her grip in panic.

Escal looked for a moment, then was about to walk to continue his path.

The little boy flinched, “T-Wait!” He said he was trying to stop Escal's path.

“What?” Escal just looked a little. The little girl instantly bowed ninety degrees, “Thank you, T-Master!”

Not directly answered Escal then said, “Heh, if you want to thank me do something useful for me.”

Escal walked back, without looking back and did not look at the little girl who somehow had her eyes become sparkling when she saw Escal's back slowly drifting away.

...----------------...

“I did say that it is better for you to do something useful for me than just thank me, but why do you keep following me. Huh?”

Escal turned back with an annoyed expression, looking at the girl he had just helped was making a gesture like a sneak and was surprised when Escal suddenly turned around.

He had not brought a piece of bread that had previously been the reason he was chased, because he had eaten.

It was not that Escal felt threatened at the little girl, but being followed like that made him uncomfortable. If it was someone else, of course he would have slashed his neck before knowing if he had been caught.
