Convictions

The rain of arrows shot at Gerda and Serina who were in the sky was not an obstacle for both, but the look on the faces of the shooting residents was of particular concern to Serina. Therefore, Gerda nodded Serina's request to leave the matter to her.

“Relax, residents!” shouted Serina, while landing on the ground. “We have no bad intentions on this village!”

Serina saw a male resident standing behind a wooden wall that was tied up like a webbing and also stuck on the ground, whispering to another man next to her. They did not stop their attacks on Gerda and Serina, instead calling out more people and immediately showering the two with more arrows.

“What should we do?” ask Gerda. Inevitably, as he and Serina tread the ground, he must create a wall of roots with his magic to protect himself and Serina.

“Seeing from the way they act, it seems like they have already received guests like us and it doesn't end well,” Serina replied.

“How can you know?”

“Experience.

“There is no other option. We'll back off for now. Can you create space in the ground?” he looked down.

“Yes. Of course.”

Soon, within minutes, the walls of the roots returned to the ground and the figures of Gerda and Serina were no longer visible.

The man who had previously whispered looked at the situation with binoculars. He then raised his left hand as a symbol to stop the attack. After that he turned around while saying, “Stay alert! Watch your posts and keep the secrets that aunt Jeanne asks of us no matter what!”

“YA!!” shouted the men.

The man seemed to clench his hands tightly before finally lifting his legs, with a hearty “Why did an Elf come here?”

[In the meantime, in the depths of the ground where Gerda and Serina were hiding.].

There is a passageway that leads to a large enough space despite being in the depths of the ground, which Gerda creates with her magic. The two girls sat face to face accompanied by artificial lighting from Gerda by manipulating nearby plants, be it the mushrooms around or the leaves and grass carried on their bodies to glow. They were discussing what they would do after this.

“If we do not know what the situation of this village is now, we will not get any information about the Eastern country, the perpetrator, or the keeper of the Stone of Souls who died,” said Serina, starting the conversation.

“Added, how can they fire that ordinary arrow with the distance between us and them while we fly?” add Gerda, “if with a regular bow, the arrows will not reach that height.”

“Yes, you are right,” reply Serina, “ no matter how we wish to quickly complete this mission, we must find out in advance about this village.”

“Uhm. I agree.”

“Do you have any suggestions?”

Gerda looked right and left. Observing for a moment the plants glowed, then looking at Serina with a smile. “Of course there is and this will work!”

......................

The crescent moon stared at the night sky with a thick blanket of clouds. The wind was blowing, a sign that something bad was about to happen. That is what the villagers believed. Children and women took shelter inside houses located at the very back of the wall.

Meanwhile, the men stood guard tightly without leaving a single place empty. On their backs were many arrows, on his waist were also sharp weapons such as swords, pocket knives, celurits and such.

The man who had given command last afternoon spoke again for the last part of the guard he had not visited. “Beware. Remember the night we were attacked by those barbarians. All the situations fit in like tonight. Even if we lose strongly to them .. then that is our end.

“The debt we can't pay to aunt Jeanne, we'll take it to death.”

The men gulped down their saliva, prepared themselves and mentally.

The sound waves emitted from whomever it was, would definitely spread throughout the place, even if it was a plant. And from those plants, through the roots, the voices were conveyed to Gerda and Serina, because Gerda had activated her magic while sitting cross-legged on her green magic circle.

“Jeanne..?” Serina wondered. “Who is he?”

“Maybe he's the keeper of the Stone of Souls that has died.” Gerda responded.

“Uhm. It's probable.

“But ... which makes me not understand .. if his Soul Stone has been taken from them, what is the land of the East still after them?”

“It's definitely a bad reason. They would not have fought so far if—“ Gerda had stopped because they felt that someone was watching one of the plants connected to it.

“What's up?” ask Serina.

“Sstt..!” Gerda gave a silent symbol with her index finger.

The gripping atmosphere suddenly occurred when Gerda's expression seemed to hold her breath, sweat, and see something very bad. Serina was forced to remain silent for a few moments full of question marks.

Then, not long after....

‘BLARRR!’

The sound of an enormous explosion made the ground that became the hiding place of the two as if it could collapse at any time.

“A-what happened, Gerda?!” asked Serina, who was shouting out due to reflexes.

“I don't understand at all!

“There are two Elves who are suspicious of the plants I'm connected to, besides....

“The attack has started!”

“Eastern Countries?!”

“Yes!

“The explosion just now damaged the front wall and injured all its guards. If we don't take action, they'll all..”.

......................

Before the explosion, the Commanding Man was watching the sky with his binoculars. He tried not to miss a single point in order to anticipate the enemy's attack. At the same time, no one realized—even saw—babwa there were two Elves who were watching the plants near them. And as the attack unfolded, the two Elves who were almost too late to realize the arrival of the uninvited guest immediately swung their hands—creating an invisible shield—until finally managed to protect the guards from fatal injuries due to the devastating explosion.

“Hei hey hey...” A male voice sounded from behind the smoke of the explosion. “You guys it's time to die. Why are you still trying to live?”

“Stop, Akira. Insects that are about to die do not need to be spoken to.” Now the voice of the woman is heard.

“Hahahah! Also true!

“Alright, let's finish this quickly and relax again soon!”

“Not so fast!” The Commanding Man came valiantly despite relying only on a bow, arrow, pistol at the waist, and a pocket knife tied to the thigh.

The faces of men and women as soon as they see the Man are instantly fed up.

“Kuh!” the Man said, Akira. “You again, Reid? After all, why are you still alive after being so badly injured so many times?!”

The commanding man named Reid grinned. “Aunt Jeanne's soul is with me. That's it.”

“Hey, Brother, our mission is to kill everyone, ‘right?” Akira bowed.

“Yes, Brother. I understand your feelings. No need to hold back.”

“Then...” Akira riding. Just then, his body was clad in a silver-blue aura and little by little, his complexion turned into scales.

Seeing him, Reid did not stay silent and shot him with a gun.

‘DOR! DOR'S! DOR!’

Three bullets were fired, but there was no result. The bullet even flattened when it touched its aura.

“Cih,” grumbled Reid, who replaced his attack method with a bow. “If you are with me, aunt Jeanne, please, give me your strength to protect them!”

Reid targeted Akira's head from the East. Suddenly, with Reid also being a witness, his arrow eyes were wrapped in a green light, while the wood was a white light. The smile of the sumringah was clearly on Reid. Without any more hesitation, he shot.

‘PEW!’

‘CRACK!’

‘BWUM!!’

It all happened so fast. There was a cracking sound, as well as a bang that followed. The smoke again covered the view. No one knows what happened, until....

“Confidence has its limits, man!”

Serina overlaid Reid on the ground.

“Ka-you...?! That was noon..?!” Reid could not believe what he saw.

“You too, Stupid Fairies! What do you expect from an ordinary human like him?!

“If you are aware of our existence, at least tell me! Are you also the same with the rotten Elves of the Fairy Forest who only want to utilize Humans?!”

Reid sees Serina talking to herself on something that doesn't exist.

“Kkkh Serina groans in pain.

Reid also realized that the front of his body—from the chest to the stomach— shed blood not his.

“Ka-you .. why?!”

Akira's form changed significantly. His body grew, his skin became blue-silver scaly. His human eyes changed like the eyes of a Dragon. He even grew a tail.

Serina's injuries were an attack from Akira that she was about to land on Reid—.

“The ones you try are the ones with the power of Dragons. An ordinary human like you can't possibly stand a chance of winning!”

Reid who heard it was not happy at all. Although wounded, he pushed Serina, then quickly stood up.

“OMONG BLANK! We got this far because aunt Jeanne is always with us!” The look Reid gave Serina was serious. Even the eyes until they are visible.
