The Unforgettable Story

The Unforgettable Story
Section 97

Kirana's house is not exactly what she described. Because the house is not simple or small. Kirana's too low. The two-story house has five rooms and three bathrooms. She could imagine little Kirana laughing, crying, playing, and studying around the house. There is a lot of happiness that cannot be disturbed by sadness or loss.

The furniture is old but made of solid wood. Some cabinets are repainted, the leather lining on the sofa is new, and there are new refrigerators replacing the old ones. Since he replaced the damaged items or fixed them, the family who rented the house earlier was very responsible. Kirana was lucky to find them. Most people who live in rental homes are very careless and cause some furniture to be damaged.

“Halo, anyone here?” someone shouted from the front door.

Kirana was pointing at William's room upstairs, so she was the only one who was in the middle. Miles walked to the front door and saw a man standing in the doorway. He was tall compared to the locals, but not tall enough to surpass Miles. Because he is an attractive man, there are many women who like him. He seems to be a nice and friendly man.

“Ya?” ask Miles when they're close enough.

“Oh. Hello there. Will you stay in this house?” tanyanya in English. Miles almost laughed. Everyone who sees it always speaks English automatically. No one ever asked if he could speak English. “I heard the owner of this house will come today to pick up the key.”

“Dex!” Kirana shrieked softly from behind him before Miles could answer her question.

So, this is a guy named Dexter. Miles watched the man closely from head to toe. His wife's taste is fine too. Then what made the man not choose Kirana to be his lover? They are both familiar and suitable for each other. Is this because of what Ratri said? Since Kirana is not an attractive woman, then men turn away from her? If so, this man would be blind.

“Kiki?” dexter said he couldn't believe it.

“Iya. It's me!” Kirana extended her hand to him. But the man did not accept it. He approached and wrapped his hands around Kirana's body. They hugged each other. Miles turned his head as he felt a touch on his pants. William was standing by her side.

“Yes, geez, Ki! I miss you!” Dexter hugged his best friend tightly. Miles felt an uneasy feeling in his chest seeing that. As soon as the jealousy came, he immediately brushed it off. Since they were only friends, he didn't need to overdo it.

“I also.” said Kirana happy.

“Are you going to stay here again?” dexter asked as he let go of his embrace. Kirana quickly shook her head. He took a step back and looked at Miles.

“No. I only stayed a few days here. There are already others who would like to rent this place, so I will give the key to them.” Kirana smiled. Dexter looked towards Miles and frowned.

“You mean him?” point Dexter. Kirana turned to look at Miles, then laughed awkwardly.

“Ng, no.” As Kirana drew closer, Miles wrapped his hands around her waist. Kirana placed her hand confidently on her husband's chest and smiled. “Dex, let me introduce. This is Miles, my husband. Miles, this is my best friend, Dexter.”

“Oh.” Dexter looked at Miles' hand on Kirana's hip, then at Kirana's hand on her husband's chest, and at Miles' outstretched hand. “Hai.”

“And this is our son, William.” Since William was on the other side of Miles, Kirana could only look towards their son. Miles helps by touching William's back to introduce himself. Realizing that he was getting all the attention at the time, the boy smiled cheerfully.

“Hai, Om.” William reached out his hand and proudly said, “Call me Will.” Miles and Kirana simultaneously laughed while shaking their heads.

“Hai, Will.” Dexter shook William's small hand. Then he turned towards Kirana. “I didn't know you were married.” He looked shocked and hurt.

“Iya. Ii'm sorry. The situation is complicated.” I am Kirana. Miles doesn't like to see his wife's face turn sad. As he stroked her waist to comfort her, Kirana drew closer to him.

“If you can, please come to dinner with us later. You two can share stories. We're the ones who treat.” invite Miles. Dexter glanced at Miles and then at Kirana.

“Only you and me?” ask Dexter to make sure.

“I invited friends from the old office as well. Come then. All of us are reunians. I want to talk to you guys.” Kirana said girang. Dexter smile.

“OK.” said agree. Kirana tells the name of the restaurant and their dinner time will start. Dexter nodded quickly.

After the man exited the gate, Miles closed the door. There was something strange about the man's expression but he couldn't figure out why. Kirana also seemed to notice the same thing. He didn't like to see a frown on his wife's forehead. He placed his index finger on the woman's chin, raised his chin, and kissed the wrinkles between his eyebrows. Kirana smiled. Then he looked down and kissed her lips.

“I know you're worried about your best friend. But I don't like to see your face sad.” Miles said. Kirana smiled then nodded slowly. They intend to kiss again, but William interrupts with his favorite sentence and they laugh.

The dinner was attended by about twenty people. The most present was Kirana's former co-worker. There were two other men who introduced themselves as good friends of his wife. One of them is named Fauzi. The man came with his wife and their child but his eyes could not stop staring at Kirana. Attractively.

He could only remember a few names, Dexter, Fauzi, Gilbert, Ruby, and Tamara. They often spoke so that their names were mentioned many times. The rest of the guests' names he could not remember. But he didn't have to remember it, he wouldn't meet them again anytime soon.

They all immediately liked William at first sight. His son also liked all the attention paid to him. Gleefully, he answered question after question posed to him. If you've seen him act that smart, Miles forgets he's just a five-year-old. Still needed to be accompanied to the toilet, asking her mother to bribe her if she wanted all the attention directed to her, eating with sauce, jam, and so on, and the cream was all around his mouth no matter how carefully he ate or chewed.

Kirana looks relaxed and happily occasionally shows her affection for her husband in front of her friends. Sometimes she touches her hands on the table, puts her head on her chest or shoulders, looks at her with loving eyes as she talks or just agrees with what her husband has to say.

He seems to like his friend a lot. He talked to them, heard what they said, and laughed with them. The one in front of her was not Kirana who she saw every day interacting with others. This was Kirana whom he met for the first time in Singapore. Too bad, he's changed.
