The Unforgettable Story

The Unforgettable Story
Section 37

So busy taking care of her son alone, there was hardly any time for Kirana to look for love. Since returning from Singapore, he has felt differently. He began to be bold in choosing clothes and paying attention to his appearance. Some men tried to approach him, but he could not stop comparing him to Romeo. His attitude was so clear that they felt uncomfortable being around him. Therefore, he stopped hoping that one day he would get married. Maybe marriage belongs to another woman, not her.

“Mommy, I want to add.” said William, his nearly four-year-old son, distracting him from his own thoughts.

“A minute, darling.” Kirana took a pancake from the plate in front of her with a special spoon and placed it on William's plate.

“Mom, my name is not dear. My name is Will.” protested his son.

“Do you know what it means dear?” kirana asked after pouring honey on her child's pancakes. William looked towards her.

“I know. Mom doesn't have to say it. I know Mom loves me.” he said while shaking his head, as if his mother was asking silly questions.

Although Kirana likes the growth of her son, she hates how quickly the boy understands things, even almost things. He was sure that he would not realize when the day came. The day his son no longer needed him. First, she doesn't like to be called baby or darling. One day he won't be hugged by her. As one of his co-workers who has a fifteen-year-old son once complained.

“Mom? What does father mean?” asked William with a curious look.

“Why did you ask that?” Kirana's voice was very calm, but her heart was actually pounding. He knew that one day his son would ask about his biological father, but he did not expect that the day would come so soon.

“My friend Ello called an adult male who picked him up with ‘ayah’.” he replied honestly. Ello was the name of his friend at school. Kirana sighed in relief in the heart. He was not asking who his father was, he was just asking the meaning of the word.

“Dad is her partner mom or mom or mom the way you call me.” replied Kirana simply. William nodded his head in understanding.

“What Mom pair?” ask his son later.

“Dad or daddy.” replied Kirana again.

William continued to enjoy his pancakes cheerfully. His mouth and hands were covered with honey. Kirana was relieved her son did not ask further. He did not know what answer made enough sense to a nearly four-year-old regarding his father's absence. Hopefully he is old enough and Kirana finds the right answer when her son asks who his father is and where he is.

“Pancake made by Mom tasty. I like.” William licked his fingers with honey.

“You said you like it so you get the most parts ‘kan?” Kirana tickled her son's waist. William laughed happily.

“Thank you.” he said politely. He sat down and held William.

“Sama-sama, Bu.” said the woman who gave her seat. “Your child is beautiful.”

“Sorry, Aunt. I'm not pretty. I'm handsome.” protest William. The one who heard her words laughed. “Why are they laughing, Mom? What's so funny?” He asked in English.

“Nothing, darling. They like you.” reply Kirana also in English.

“Will, Mom. Will's. Stop calling me sweetheart.” protest again. Stop calling me baby. Kirana just rolled her eyeballs. He smiled at the woman who was smiling towards him and William.

“Son's mother is smart once. Dare to express his opinion.” praise the woman sincerely. Kira felt her chest so fluffy, proud of her son.

“Thank you.” said Kirana.

The everyday scenery did not bother Kirana. He did not mind everyone staring in admiration towards his son. Of course it was unusual for them to meet a boy with blond hair, blue eyes, and pale skin like in public transportation. At first, William was afraid to see all the eyes that led to him. Now he's used to it. He even spoke as is and was honest to show that he was not afraid of anyone.

Since the beginning of August, William was registered to Kanak-Kanak Park. According to her age, she was put into Kindergarten A. A few weeks into the lesson, his teacher praised his abilities and called him the smartest of his friends. Besides being smart, she is also very liked by her classmates. When they meet, they care for no one but their neighbor. Playing, singing, and chases among children are common sights when the entrance bell has not yet rung.

As soon as he entered the Kindergarten A classroom, William hugged Kirana, ran to put his bag in place, and joined his friends who were playing in the school hall. Seeing her son's behavior, Kirana just smiled while shaking her head slowly. William's class teacher greeted him and they talked for a while before Kirana left. He also did not forget to greet the mother of his son's friends.

Arriving at his office, he immediately entered the elevator towards the floor where his room was located. The first hour he used to check the report on his desk. Then his assistant reminded him of the coordination meeting that morning with his colleagues in the marketing division. Kirana immediately took her file and walked out of her room.

In the meeting room, his comrades were already waiting patiently. They were busy talking to each other while enjoying the tea and coffee that his assistant had served. After greeting them all, he sat down and the atmosphere calmed down again. Report after report was read while listening to a presentation about one of their marketing programs that was just held last weekend. The exhibitions they did were successful and there were many bookings in both small and large parties they received. Kirana smiled hearing that.

He asked them to get ready for another exhibition and remind them of the implementation dates and locations that they had agreed on together. They immediately split up the teams that would handle each of the exhibitions. Kirana gave it up completely to them. He only needed to mark the date on his agenda so that he could carry out a direct inspection of the exhibition implementation later.

“Bu, asked by Mr. Simon to go to his room.” said his assistant as soon as the meeting ended.

Kirana invited her colleagues to continue their work. He's taking the stairs to the top floor. His superior secretary smiled in greeting and then opened the door of their branch headroom for him. He thanked the woman and entered his superior's study.
