A few days ago...
"No! I won't marry you!"
Devin straightened his body and put both of his hands into the bag of pants.
"Why?" tanyanya.
"I don't think anyone is at a disadvantage with this marriage" he said.
Renika widened her two eyes with her jaw tightening hard upon hearing Devin's statement. A moment later he said.
"Listen yes, Lord Devin Grahatama. I have a lot of reasons why this marriage can't happen!"
Renika's index finger raised hints at the number 'one'.
"First, our marriage can be a scandal, especially if the photos are spread to the mass media! And guess who's at the most disadvantage in this? Yes, of course I am!" rennika shouted a little.
"Secondly, my popularity is going down because I'm no longer single!" coined.
"The worst part is, all the brands I work with will have their contracts revoked. I had to pay compensation with a fine of hundreds of millions of rupiah just because of that baseless scandal!" Renika gritted her teeth.
"You still dare to say that I have nothing to lose?!"
Devin's lips opened to speak but Renika spoke again making the man close his mouth again.
"Oh yes. I'm sure you haven't forgotten what happened a few days ago?" Renika starts.
"I broke up with my ex-boyfriend by publicly humiliating him. If I were suddenly married to you who were also photographed what would the public think?? They will turn around and accuse me of cheating! I planned that scenario. Then, my image as a good woman will be shattered!" continued the fiery Renika.
There is no reason to escape from Renika's words. He reveals all the bad scenarios that might happen to him if until suddenly he married Devin.
However, after all the lengthy explanations that Renika had given him, Devin still looked calm. In fact, the man is now seen folding both hands in front of the chest as if not too concerned with all the adverse effects that might happen to Renika.
Devin then sat back in his chair and said while looking at Renika straight.
"First, the photos will not be useful if distributed after we are married. Husband and wife both at the hotel, what's wrong?" The man continued saying.
"Instead, we can sue back whoever spread it because it ruined our good name."
"Devin, you know the culprit could be spreading the date of the photo, right?" reply Renika while turning the eyeball.
"Unless our trappers appear in person, I can simply say that the date is merely fabrication" Devin replied briefly.
"Secondly, marrying me will increase your fame, not the other way around." The man added.
"Three, even if another company revokes its contract and forces you to pay hundreds of millions, I can bear it and be your sole sponsor in Indonesia."
Renika. All Devin can't he tepis. For a moment, he forgot that this man before him was the CEO of one of the biggest companies in his country. Thus, the problem of reputation and money, not the least Renika should worry about it. But nevertheless...
"Renika," call Devin making Renika flinch.
"Don't refuse anymore. Instead of a dead end for you marrying me is a way out." He explains.
"It's not just about reputation and career, but your parents won't be taking this matter any further."
Hearing Devin's explanation, Renika remained silent. Her brain turned around questioning whether she really had no other choice but to marry Devin.
"I know you're vehemently refusing because you don't want to get entangled in a loveless marriage, especially after the trouble with that brash man." The man was clearly referring to Naufal.
"Therefore, one year only during which we need to get married."
Renika who was pensively looked at Devin with her two eyebrows intertwined.
"You mean?"
Devin explained, staring at the bright brown netra Renika deeply.
"We married a contract."
###########
"So, you two agreed to get married?"
Both Renika and Devin's parents looked so happy and relieved when they heard the answers from the two children.
Renika then nodded with her awkward smile while Devin just stayed seated beside her letting Renika explain everything to their parents.
"But before that, there are some conditions that we want to apply," Renika said later.
"What conditions?" asked Devin's mother, then turned to look at the husband and his two best friends alternately.
Renika just smiled back clumsyly then took a breath and began to make a sound.
"We want, our marriage is kept secret from the public. We also do not want to hold a wedding that is too luxurious, just attended the closest people," said Renika.
"After marriage, we'll stay in my private house" Devin added.
Hearing the requirements, the parents were seen exchanging glances, they seemed a little objected to the conditions given by Renika and Devin, especially in the 'not to be known by the public' section'.
After all, the families of both parties were both from distinguished families, so it felt like it would be difficult to cover the marriage from the public.
"If you may know, why do you want to keep this marriage a secret? You two aren't planning anything weird behind our backs, are you?" asked Devin's mother with a suspicious tone.
For a moment, Renika felt panicked. His heart was pounding and his tongue was suddenly twisted, unable to say anything.
"Renika has several agreements with brands that sponsor her, if she has to maintain her current image" Devin said later.
Renika who heard it turned to him, not expecting the lie to come out so smoothly from a Devin who had been sitting quietly beside Renika.
Both of their parents nodded, agreeing to the terms of Renika and Devin.
"But..."
Renika who had cheered in her heart because their plan went smoothly, was forced to hold back her smile when Devin's father paused her speech.
"We also have a condition for you."
Anxiety soon encompassed Renika's heart, especially from seeing the smiles on the faces of their parents.
"Give us a grandchild in a year's time."
