Devan was silent looking at the photo of the girl who seemed to look smiling, a smile that was so very beautiful even Devan who was still crying was now able to smile while the tip of his index finger gently touched the surface of the photo.
Devan took a deep breath and exhaled heavily. It seemed that this time his chest tightened after remembering the incident where he spoke at length to two people he feared most, Mr. Abraham and Jef.
"Kasya, I. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry for speaking so rudely to your father but honestly I didn't mean to do that."
"Kasya, I'm sorry because at that time I couldn't take you away from that house, a house full of suffering for you. I'm sorry."
"Kasha."
Devan sighed heavily then rubbed his wet cheek with his palm and returned to touch the surface of the photo with his index finger.
"I know now you're a star in the sky. Well like what you always say if anyone dies then he'll be a star."
Devan runs on a paved road that looks crowded crossed by a passing vehicle. Devan stopped his steps and immediately climbed up the back wall of the house and jumped until he was safely in the park.
Devan turned left and right trying to make sure no one saw him at this time.
Devan settles around like a thief approaching a window that is left open. Devan knows it was Kasha who opened it.
"Sir Kasha!" call Devan in a whispering tone just as he is in front of the window. Devan has to be careful this time, he does not want if Kasya's father and also his men hear his voice, this will be a big problem for him.
"Sir Kasha!" call Devan again but no voice will tell him.
Devan sighed then he accidentally glanced at a paper attached to the glass surface.
Meet me upstairs!
That's what's on that paper.
Devan grabs him carefully and slowly climbs into the window and enters without making a sound.
Devan turned to the left and to the right again, he had to make sure that there was no one in Kasya's room that was so dark and silent. Devan carefully stepped up the stairs and ran as he was on the second floor.
Devan returned to the last step and his steps stopped as he managed to stare at Kasya who was now sitting on the edge of the balcony with her hair unraveling.
Devan smiled, though honestly he was afraid to step closer to Kasya, who now looks like a female ghost figure who is swaying with long hair unraveling. Fortunately Kasya did not wear white clothes if not then fear Devan's legs to approach Kasya who was still sitting there.
Devan sits beside Kasya who is now looking up at the sky decorated with beautiful flickering stars.
"Sir Kasha" Devan called in a whisper, making Kasya turn and smile for a moment, then looked back at the sky.
Devan was silent and then slowly he looked up at the sky with the night wind.
"What do you see?" devan asked while looking at Kasha.
"Star" he answered.
Devan furrowed his brows in wonder then looked up at the sky.
"Why see stars?"
Kasha smiled and looked at Devan, who was now looking at her.
"Said Aunt Naini, the one who has died will become a star."
"Star?" devan asked with a confused face.
"Yes, that's what Aunt Naini said."
Devan looked up at the sky while scratching his non-itchy head. He's pretty confused about this. Devan squinted both of his eyes trying to stare at the star very clearly, he wanted to see if there was anyone in the star.
"There's no one in the stars" Devan replied with his muddy face.
Kasya laughed as she covered her mouth making Devan smile with her face still confused.
"Why laugh?" ask Devan.
"It's just a myth, after all we can't see it in person. This is according to Aunt Naini alone."
"I know that all those who have died will go back to God and will not be stars but somehow seeing stars makes me see Omah."
"Mdid?" ask Devan.
"Yes Omah."
"Who is that?"
"You don't know Omah?" kasha asked, making Devan shake.
"Omah is a call to Grandma. Time you don't know."
"Well I know, I usually call my Grandma Grandma Grandma instead of Omah. Usually when called Omah only for the rich, I often hear it on TV," explained Devan then silent for a moment as if thinking of something.
"Oh yes I forgot, Kak Kasya is a rich man."
"Devan," called Kasya with both eyes still seriously staring at the sky.
"What?"
"Why do you often call me Big Brother?"
"Well because Brother Kasha is older than me" he replied.
Kasya smiled and shook her head.
"Then what if I'm married to you?"
"Why laugh?" devan asked as he rubbed the arm that had been hit by Kasya.
"That's funny."
"Like a star" Devan said.
Kasya nodded then looked up at the stars.
"That's my Omah." Pointing Kasya towards one of the stars made Devan look up.
"Did he see us?"
"No, Devan."
"Then how did Kak Kasya know it was Omah?"
"Said Aunt Naini, the brightest star is the figure of the person we miss" explained Kasha.
Devan narrowed both his eyes staring at the sky. Devan poked his lips and turned to look at Kasya who was still smiling.
"Just like, everything looks shining."
"It's not like that."
"Then?"
Kasya sighed and closed his eyes while stretching out his hands and some of him fell silent while Devan gawked, he did not understand what Kasya was doing.
"Sir Kasya, Brother Kasya! Is Kak Kasya sleeping?" call Devan who never saw Kasya open his eyes.
"Sir Kasha! Aaaa!!!" shouts Devan who now jerks in shock after seeing Kasya open her eyes suddenly.
Devan touched his thumping chest with a face so shocked.
"What's wrong? Why yell?" ask Kasha.
"Sister Kasha surprised me," he replied, wiping his chest.
Kasya laughed and then hit Devan's arm again making Devan smile.
"Devan," call Kasha.
"What's wrong?"
"Now close your eyes!"
"For what?" ask Devan.
"Closed it! You want to see the person you miss the most, right?"
Devan sighed then hesitantly closed his eyes according to what Kasya ordered.
"Have you?" asked Kasya who now closed her eyes.
"Already" whispered Devan.
"And stretch both hands!"
Devan only complied, although he occasionally opened one eye to look at Kasya who was stretching out his hands with both eyes closed.
"Don't peek!"
"Ah how does Kak Kasya know?" devan is now opening both eyes.
"I know everything. Now do it right!" have Kasya make Devan breathe out a long breath and close his eyes again while stretching out both hands.
"Sir Kasha!" call Devan in a whispering tone but never get a reply from Kasya.
"Sir Kasha!"
"Sister Kasya, did you hear me? Brother Kasya!" call Devan again.
Devan took a deep breath and then he remained silent for a long time.
"Sir Kasya, are we going to fly?"
"Hust! Quiet down!" kasya whispered made Devan quickly fold his lips.
"Then take a deep breath!" peeka Kasya made Devan take a deep breath.
"When you take the deepest breaths, name the person you want to see three times!"
Devan who heard this immediately did as Kasya ordered. The coolness of the night breeze was so very fresh that it reached his lungs.
"Then open your eyes! If you see the brightest star then it's the one you miss!"
Devan opened his eyes slowly and the light from the moon was dazzling to the point that Devan smiled at the brightest star.
"Yes Kak Kasya, I saw the brightest star" Devan said with great joy and turned his head.
Devan's smile vanished from his lips as he turned to look at the small photo of Kasya who was on his right hand finger that he still stretched.
Devan threw his body into the bed feeling sad. It's only Devan's memory that recalls the incident.
"Are you a star?" ask Devan.
