Goslings
I was speeding on the Jagorawi toll road when the car speaker announced a call coming into my bluetooth-connected phone. I immediately received the call.
"Hello?"
"People."
I admit it's a bit of a shock to hear Om Arif's voice across the street. Because I was focusing on driving, I didn't have time to check who was calling before I picked it up. "Eh, yes, Om."
"Where are you now?"
It's nice to know that your future father in law care about your whereabout, right? But, it also brings out some unnerving feeling with it. I was in the middle of feeling happy and tense. However, the more thoughtful it was, the more this feeling was made heavy in a tense direction.
Why did Om Arif call me? What was? Did anything happen to Olavia and Ole?
Fxck. Fxck. Fxck. No. Don't let that happen!
"I'm on the toll again, Om. Going out soon. Half an hour, Om." I answered.
"Oh, okay. Okay." Okay." Om Arif then fell silent for a moment. "You're straight here, right?"
Questions that need not be asked. Obviously I'll go straight to my woman first, no matter what comes my way. Especially at a time like this. I need to meet with Olavia as soon as I can. "Yes, Om. Of course."
"Good, good." I can imagine the calculated nod Om Arif made when he said those words. I'm sure his head will move up and down slowly, his expression serious. "Then wait at home, yeah."
God damn. That sentence finally made me worry more. If at first this Om Arif phone only made me worried, what he said managed to cause my hair to stand up. "If Angga can find out, what's up, Om?"
"Ah, nothing, No. I just want to check."
Just want to check from Om Arif which honestly just happened the first time. Om Arif never once called me just to check my whereabouts. Never does. Just this time.
"What's up, Om?"
"Then–"
We say it together. When I he with the intention of giving an opportunity to Om Arif to finish his sentence first, my prospective in-laws instead use the opportunity to say goodbye. "Then, be careful driving it, yes, No. We're waiting at home."
Clik. Connection interrupted.
What in the actual hell is going on? Not enough feelings inside me that ravage my heart and head, life feels they can send Om Arif as an agent to further destabilize me from the outside.
Fxcking! To hell with a slogan that encourages riders to drive carefully and at a normal pace. I don't need that normal right now. Normal would not work for me at this very time space. I need to be there as soon as possible.
Then I push the gas pedal deeper.
****
I immediately ran to get into the house. My steps were scattered suddenly stopped when I passed the living room.
Oh, my fxcking God. No.
No, no, no, no.
I saw it wrong. I was not looking at Owen sitting on the left seat of Om Arif. I didn't see the two men staring at me. Owen turned his head with his eyebrows raised high on his forehead and one corner of his lips also lifted. If I didn't know what he was doing better, I'm sure I'd assume he had a mild stroke on his right side. While Owen desperately mocked me, Om Arif's face was full of strokes that I couldn't understand all at once. I seem to have to sort them out one by one in order to be able to understand them better. One thing for sure ....
Oh, for the love of all things holy. Has Owen met Olavia? And Ole?
The ole! OLEANDERS?!
Without thinking any longer I immediately darted away the two men. I can't care about them. All I have in my head right now is to see my fiancee.
Fxck. Fxck. Fxck. Fxck. Fxck. Fxcking fxcked up. What have I been thinking, huh? I guess I didn't think of anything because I didn't expect it would end up like this.
You stupid Angga!
I climbed two steps at once to get to Olavia's room quickly. Because I don't see him and Ole outside, so my strongest assumption is they're in there.
Even more so if they had met Owen.
Xxxxxxck. I can't imagine how Olavia would feel right now. How did he feel about meeting Owen after such a long time had passed. How did he feel when he saw Owen who was looking at a mini version of himself with his own eyes and head.
This is all your fault, Angga!
Aarghs! Goddamnit!
I then turned the doorknob when I got to Olavia's room. The door was locked from the inside.
Fxck.
My hand was automatically raised to knock on that door. "Dear." Geck, tok, tok. "Olavia, it's me." Geck, tok, tok. "Open the door, Yang."
Instantly the door leaf swung as fast as lightning and Olavia immediately scattered into my arms. Actions that I also did not expect it hit my body and made me stagger a little. However, I can quickly restore my footing and stand up more firmly again.
I give back the hug of the woman I love most in this world that is just as tight if not tighter than she does.
Olavia then let go of his pagutan and began to speak hurriedly. "Ngga, there's Owen downstairs, Ngga! There's Owen downstairs! We were playing in the middle room waiting for you and suddenly he was behind Bi Jumi. There's Owen, Ngga! There's Owen downstairs! Owen, Ngga, Owen. There's Owen. I fear. There's Owen, Ngga. I'm scared."
My heart cracked seeing him like this. I just realized his body was shaking. I put him in my arms again. I hugged him more tightly, hoping that my presence could ease his fear before another feeling took over after he knew what was really going on. What made Owen come to this house.
