The night spread its dark wings. Humairo stood on the porch after Maghrib. Three days were infused and could only lie in the room, bored him and finally chose a walk in front of the house. He was bored but had no desire to go any further. Not because he can no longer find David, and not because his hope to live with David that has run aground. He only felt a bond shackling his body to not leave the house.
His three days of intense togetherness with Ainul, although not very close, made him get used to it and there was something he, somehow, himself wanted to reject. He felt prestige, and the rest of his displeasure with Ainul was still there, although there was little left.
Ainul disappeared as usual. Yesterday he had sacrificed his time to take care of her during her illness. And he could only find it late at night when he came home from the mosque. The man was so sincere in taking care of her, although often her harsh and inappropriate words, he took them out and would definitely hurt Ainul. Tap Ainul was always smiling and seemed to not care about any of it.
He suddenly missed Ainul. Funny indeed, after what he had done all this time to Ainul.
And now he did not understand, the establishment now in front of the terrace, as waiting for the return of Ainul. Even the motorbike he used to park in the place where Ainul often slept, had been moved to another corner. Not only that, he has also cleaned the dust that sticks to the dirt traces of his motor wheel.
A change he didn't notice and just like that.
Humairo stepped inside the house. The lights in the living room are marked. Unlike previous nights that were always dark. In the past, he turned off all lighting in the house and left only his room lights alone, in the hope that Ainul could not enter the house. It was also a signal that Ainul did not try to touch her, even though they were legally married. This time he wished Ainul to go in and sleep inside the house.
It didn't feel like the night was starting to get late. The sound of the rooster's crowing is in tune with the sound of a wall clock chiming through the night.
Humairo laid his body slowly on his bed. Tonight the ice is so felt. He imagined that Ainul was now sitting with his feet near him. But how to start it to be like a married couple on the first night, still confusing him. He was already being rude and positioned her as a disgusting maid. If he had to wait for Ainul to start, he wasn't so sure Ainul would. He's the shy guy, who won't start a conversation before anyone starts. Especially with her that was possible in Ainul's eyes was a scary woman.
Ainul glanced back at the wall clock. He sighed long. His drowsiness did not also come to seduce his eyes to fall asleep immediately.
*
Ainul was seen slipping into the house. Humairo was still watching her behind the door of his room. Ainul is now seen opening a closet and picking up some clothes and putting them in a bag. He now saw Ainul just standing in front of the closet. It was like hearing sobs.
Ainul remained silent as the sound of Humairo's footsteps drew closer to him. Even when Humairo turned on the lights, Ainul was still standing in his place.
Humairo saw Ainul's eyes puffed up by his cries. Humairo tried to hold Ainul, but Ainul refused and shook off Humairo's hand. Humairo grew more astonished because suddenly Ainul stepped away from him.
Humairo shouted for Ainul who was getting away. Because Ainul did not care about him, Humairo cried hysterically.
Nooooooo!
Humairo jumped in shock. Cold sweat was flowing down his body. His chest seemed to be pierced by something heavy and he still felt difficulty breathing. Apparently it was a nightmare. Dream about Ainul leaving her.
Humairo got up and got out. Slowly, he revealed the mosquito nets of the living room window. No one lay curled up on the porch like the nights before. Ainul turned his head towards the wall clock behind him. It's three o'clock at night. The time when Ainul used to wake up to pray. Where has he not been home so late? He's never late. Never more or less than twelve o'clock. No matter how busy he is in the mosque. Does this have anything to do with his dreams tonight? Question after question began to unsettle his mind. It felt like he had followed her to the mosque just to make sure she was actually in the mosque. But the distance is too far. Too many dogs will bark when passing the road to the mosque.
Humairo turned to step into his room. He returned to his body restless. His dream began to become a topic he could not lose in his mind. Her fear would not go away until she saw Ainul return home. He concluded, he really missed Ainul. He wanted Ainul to be by his side tonight. He wanted to change and live like a husband and wife with Ainul.
