CHAPTER 23: ROOFTOP

Sherlyn now opens the door to her campus rooftop. But a few seconds later he was fixated, right in front of him now the scenery below was clearly visible, visible bluish mountain upright, and some residents' houses beautify the view. Don't forget about – like the wind that so refreshes his face.

Sherlyn's smile expands, almost five semesters he is on this campus but for the first time he sees a view as beautiful as this is on his campus. Sherlyn closed her eyes, the burden on her back for some reason lately getting heavier. When the guilt of his two best friends intensifies. Ever since that dinner that magically brought him to Andrew and Chris. And from then on, the gazes of his two best friends were so full of hidden wounds.

Sherlyn now felt her eyes begin to heat up. He just wants his life to go well. It had been so painful to lose both of his parents, he did not want to lose his two best friends either.

Sherlyn flinched when her eyes suddenly darkened, someone had already closed them with the palm of hers. Sherlyn smiled faintly, Andrew was indeed so full of surprises. After finishing class he immediately hunted – to go to the rooftop after a message delivered by the man in his locker.

“Drew, Come! Don't joke.”

Sherlyn said with a small laugh, she is not stupid enough not to know who closed her eyes. For a few seconds, Andrew remained unmoved. Sherlyn was confused, was the man okay?

“Drew?”

Sherlyn's birthday was still with her eyes closed, the next man took off his palm. Sherlyn smiled and started to turn around. Andrew always thought of him as a child.

“I'm not surprised with-“

Sherlyn's smile instantly faded, her body stiffening. Right in front of him was a rubber masked man whom he did not recognize, the man covered almost his entire face. Sherlyn swallowed her saliva.

“D.. Drew, don't joke.”

Said Sherlyn still with a small laugh. The man in front of him is Andrew, right? The same guy, who sent her a message, right? Andrew just wants to play around with her, right? Sherlyn felt her heart pounding, the girl's eyes staring at the masked man intently.

“Si.. Who are you?”

Looking at Sherlyn's frightened face, the man seemed to be smiling widely. That guy looks so creepy. The masked man now reached into something behind his jacket. Sherlyn could clearly see that a folding knife was now coming out of her hand. Sherlyn retreated her steps. No, he can't, he's already at the end of the building. Sherlyn grasped the iron trellis firmly.

“Ja.. Don't come near.”

Said Sherlyn softly, even she barely made a sound. Fear made him unable to control his own body. The man now walked closer and closer with a folding knife.

Sherlyn gave a quick glance towards the exit, she could not if she just kept quiet like this. The man must have wanted to hurt her, he had to run away. Seeing a slight gap, Sherlyn quickly began to run towards the exit, but the man forcefully pulled the collar of his shirt and slammed it firmly into the iron trellis, causing Sherlyn to fall.

“Akh!”

Sherlyn now grimaced, she began to panic, now that her left leg was sprained by the sudden pull of the man. Sherlyn swallowed her saliva, she stared at the masked man intensely. Trying to guess the identity of the man, at least he can recognize someone who wants to hurt him. But the result was nil, he could not guess.

“Do not approach!”

Sherlyn's voice began to rise. He still hoped that someone would save him this time. Sherlyn felt her heart racing fast, she was unable to think clearly now. The man further widened his smile and started crouching, likening his body to Sherlyn.

“Said don't come near!”

Sherlyn started screaming hysterically, now that she could do nothing, the man got closer and started whispering quietly in her ear.

“Still remember the murder you committed, Sherlyn? Seven years ago."

Sherlyn now felt her entire body numb, she was unable to move. That fear made him hide. Returning to the events seven years ago, Sherlyn swallowed her saliva. No, it wasn't his fault. Someone had trapped him back then.

The man started laughing. Sherlyn's tears began to fall. Seeing Sherlyn getting scared made her so happy. The man now clasped Sherlyn's palm and stroked her gently.

A slashh!

Fresh blood was now coming out from Sherlyn's palm, the man scraping it deep enough. Stupid, stupid, why can't he move like this? Even to scream he was completely unable.

"Your hands are covered in blood, you must remember that, right?"

Buk up!

Sherlyn flinched when she arrived – arrived the masked man was now slumped beside her. Sherlyn was still digesting with what happened, she looked up. Right in front of him he could see Chris who was now looking at him with a worried look.

“You.. You okay, Lady?"

Chris now crouched down and looked at Sherlyn closely. Sherlyn looked at him with fear. Chris can clearly see the hand of Sherlyn who has now issued a red liquid. He was late, Chris now took the cloth out of his pants pocket and began to wrap it around Sherlyn's palm.

A few minutes ago he was able to feel Sherlyn's unusual heartbeat. And it turns out, the girl is in danger. And he was too late to see Sherlyn who was already injured.

“Chris, behind you!”

Just as Chris was facing back, the masked man now chewed a folding knife and stuck it right in Chris' stomach. Instead of whimpering in pain, Chris now began to stand up and with a single push. The masked man now bounced right in front of the exit.

The masked man and Sherlyn were now so jolted with that monstrous power. Seeing Chris who was not a worthy opponent, the man quickly left the rooftop, leaving Sherlyn so frantically. Sherlyn now grabs the body of Chris who has fallen.

"Chris, Chris hang on!"

With the help of campus keeper Sherlyn now drive Chris to his car. The sweat now floods Sherlyn's entire body, though they ride in the elevator but Chris' much larger posture overwhelms him.

“Defend Chris! We're going to the hospital.”

Said Sherlyn worried, she ceaselessly prayed and cried. Seeing the state of Chris is so heartbreaking to make his heart hurt, especially this is all because of him. If Chris hadn't saved him, the man wouldn't have suffered like this. Sherlyn now starts putting Chris' body in the man's car and starts running towards the wheel.

“Sherlyn!”

Sherlyn flinched, exactly a few feet away from her, and Andrew stood up with sweat already flooding his body. Sherlyn now took a step back, this man who was trying to hurt her, right?

“Lyn?”

Seeing Sherlyn looking at him with fear now left Andrew confused. Has he made a mistake?

“I.. I have to go.” Said Sherlyn and passed, but before she stepped back. Andrew now held his hand, making Sherlyn now look back at him.

“How about our date?”

“Fuck with dating, Drew!”

Shouted Sherlyn and stomped Andrew's grip on her. Sherlyn now starts driving towards the hospital, leaving the campus. Andrew was now staring at the speed of the car that was getting away, then the man smiled cynically and began to walk away from campus.
