CHAPTER 13: THE LIE

A girl with a height of about 160 centimeters was surprised, a little girl who was still turning 15 years old looked so panicked. His little eyes opened wide, his body shaking violently, sweat had flooded his entire body. In front of him was now clearly seen a pair of middle-aged men and women were dead. His arms were raised, his little eyes were looking at his two arms that were already flooded with blood and the folding knife in his hands.

He screamed loudly and crouched down, his tears beginning to flood both of his chubby cheeks. His eyes looked back at the pair of corpses. He could clearly see a lifeless middle-aged man before him, the man's neck already gaping, revealing within his neck. Sherlyn wakes up from her nightmare. His temples were already bathed in sweat, his arms clenched tightly. Why did the worst experience return in his memory? He massaged his forehead, too dizzy to think about it again.

He looked at his clothes, even he was still wearing his campus clothes, his head turned towards the wall clock, now it was seven in the night. How long has he been asleep?

Sherlyn tried to pick up the phone at her little bedside table. He sighed when no one contacted him. Even the group chat with Angle and Kate, completely deserted. Were Angle and Kate so busy that no one contacted her? He wanted to tell his nightmares to his two friends.

Sherlyn frowned as she clearly heard Angle's fiery breath and added a loud music sound as her backsound. Where is Angle now? Isn't there a family event? Or was the family event at the karaoke place?

“Are you busy?”

“Yes, I guess. I'll close Sherlyn first, Bye.”

Sherlyn sighed, she stared at her phone in great annoyance. Just watch out for the brown girl, if Angle asks him for help, he won't help her. Sherlyn tried to regulate her emotions, should he not be like that to his friends, especially Angle, he was very fond of Angle although it does not close the fact that he so often argue with Angle.

Sherlyn is now back looking for the name of the contact on her phone. Kate, she hopes Kate is not busy and becomes her vent to tell all her nightmares, at least make her a little calmer.

“Iya, what's up?” Sherlyn's smile expands, she thinks Kate is not busy. Because there's no backsound behind Kate's voice. It all sounds quiet and silent.

“What are you doing Kate?”

Sherlyn was silent as she heard the voice of a man talking to Kate. Sherlyn's forehead shriveled back, who was that man? It was as if he had heard his voice, but he had forgotten where. Is that Kate's dad? Why does it sound so young? And also, Sherlyn is very sure if that's not the way Kate's father sounds.

“Who is bi-”

“I have to go Sherlyn, Bye.”

Sherlyn looked back in annoyance at her phone, very upset she threw her phone in a padded pad making the phone bounce. Sherlyn was greatly relieved when her phone did not fall from her bed. He is very upset now, but that does not mean you have to buy a new phone with his own savings.

Sherlyn slept facing the ceiling and closed her eyes, not at all intending to change her clothes or just clean her body. Because he's not gonna take a shower tonight. It's a little disgusting, but it's one of his habits. Bad habits.

Angle and Kate chuckle at Sherlyn's upset face. How her thin brows furrowed, her little lips formed waves and both her eyes narrowed. If Kate doesn't remember Sherlyn, Kate will probably praise her. “What if we stay at my house tonight?” Sherlyn was enthusiastic.

Kate and Angle stared horror at Sherlyn. Today they have an appointment with someone, and they will not cancel it. You could say this is their chance to get their dream man.

“K..I guess I can't.”

Kate scratched her non-itchy nape, while Angle tried to smile thinly. Re-assure Sherlyn with that sweet smile of hers. Sherlyn stared intently at her two best friends, why are they always rejecting her invitation lately? Is there something to hide or do they already have a new best friend replacing them?

“What reason this time?”

Sherlyn chopped her head up using her palm and elbow which became her pedestal. Sherlyn's thin lips made a wide smile, and it made Kate and Angle even more nervous. Why was Sherlyn smiling while they could not fulfill her wish, they could not read the little girl's mind.

“Family show again?”

Sherlyn stared at Angle and Kate in turn, and her smile was endlessly displayed by her. Kate and Angle's heart is racing, does Sherlyn know if they're lying? But know where? It's impossible if Sherlyn follows them, right?

“Family or dating events?”

Kate and Angle were sculpting, as if their hearts had stopped. Kate and Angle looked nervously at Sherlyn who was still looking at them with a big smile. Kate clenched her hands tightly while Angle just looked down deep. The guilt of lying to Sherlyn is growing.

“You didn't tell me if you were dating? Wh why? Angle, Kate forbade you to date the new kid, and not me. Why don't you tell me? You don't trust me?”

Sherlyn stared intently at Angle. Angle could only look into Sherlyn's eyes with a guilty look, Angle could clearly see there was a look of disappointment from Sherlyn's eyes. He should have told Sherlyn everything, why would he doubt Sherlyn? There are so many secrets he has told Sherlyn, but not Kate. But why not this time? Was he afraid that the events of Tonny Prescot would happen again? Tonny Prescot is one of the men that Angle likes, but he likes his own best friend, Sherlyn Villegas. And Angle very much does not want such an event to happen again.

“And Kate, I know very well that you're someone who has always kept your privacy. But I also know very well, if you are not someone who likes to lie.”

Kate felt something was going on inside her. Because Sherlyn is right, she is not someone who likes to lie. But because of the man, because of the man he can lie to his best friend. But, Kate is also not someone who can easily love a man, and maybe if he already loves a man, he forgets everything. Kate looked down deeply, her eyes full.

“Oh come on, why be so dramatic like this? I'm just kidding, haha.”

Angle looked at Sherlyn who was laughing awkwardly. As for Kate, she can't look at Sherlyn. If just a little bit of her little head were raised, her tears would have slid down her two thin cheeks. Sherlyn swallowed the saliva, she was really very awkward now. He was quite sorry to be too carried away by the emotions earlier, he could not cover the disappointment to Angle and Kate.

“Where do you know all that Sherlyn?”

“Tyron, Tyron told me everything."
