For two days now, Kai, Isla and Rex have been hiding in Margus' cabin. Hilma and Argo did not return to the Palace nor the borders of Amalthea.
Their job is to find Kai and the Emrys shards. But due to something unexpected, they have to hide Kai and the girl until the Gamma family meeting will take place tomorrow evening.
The Margus cottage is very poorly maintained. Dozens of cobwebs coagulated in every corner of the house. Not to mention the thick dust that enveloped every inch of the floor and the items left behind. I don't know how long has Margus left this cabin? Kai met Margus last time when he was at the Academy.
Hilma had left a stockpile of canned food for one week. He promised that he would immediately give news if the family meeting had taken place. Hilma is actually worried that Samira has learned of Isla's arrival. Although Margus' cabin has been given a protective spell, Samira's sensitivity to something unfamiliar is worth watching out for.
Kai was dismantling Margus' cabin. Rumors have spread that the Margus Cottage is considered haunted and a lair of long-dead dark witches. So that the cottage was abandoned, shunned and estranged from the homes of Lumis and other witches.
The bottles containing the potion were still left behind. With the cauldron and other concocting equipment that has now been damaged and cannot be used. In another part of the room Kai found a broken shelf containing sheets of paper containing handwriting that had turned yellow and inedible to the weather. Kai unpacked everything, hoping to find something.
"Who exactly is this Margus?" asked Isla who appeared suddenly. Kai who was tidying the papers turned his head. His robe had been undone since earlier, wearing clothes that were said to be too neat to clean.
"He's my uncle. Exactly, my mother's sister."
"Then is Argo really your brother? If Hilma is similar to you. But Argo doesn't."
"Why? Is it because I'm not as handsome as him?"
"What?" exclaim Isla shocked.
"I know you're praising him half-dead."
"Hey, that's not what I meant!" sergeant Isla. Kai chuckled.
"We are not so similar because our mothers are different. My father had three wives. Hilma and I were born to the same mother, I also have a twin sister with the same mother. So don't be surprised if you meet my brother who doesn't even have a semblance of me. But at its core, we're all still siblings. "
"You must be happy to be the youngest son in your family. I wonder what it's like to have so many brothers."
Hearing Isla's wish, Kai automatically laughed. "The strangest wish I've ever heard. If I could I would even trade my life for Rex. Or at least I wasn't born into this family."
Isla was a little surprised. "Why? Is it really bad to have so many brothers?"
"Well, it's not a bad problem. But, you should be able to hold back while continuing to be compared to your superior brothers. You can certainly imagine for yourself what it's like to be taken for granted."
"Yes, I know that" said Isla Lirih. Isla of course understood because she also experienced the same suffering as Kai. Just a different problem. "But I wonder, is there a sister you admire the most?" continued.
"There's."
"Is there someone named Samira?"
But Kai immediately shook his head. "Samira is indeed a complete package to be a role model. She is beautiful, intelligent, powerful, always ranked as the most talented witch of the Gamma family. He is now also the Queen's right hand. Absolutely perfect, right? But his perfection becomes a loophole to always lower the one below him. I don't envy what he has, but I don't like the way he puts distance from witches weaker than him. Even if it's his own brother."
"He must have had a strong influence, huh? I'm sure a figure like Samira can get anyone on his side."
"The right words. You're good at guessing when you haven't met in person."
Isla raised an eyebrow. "Well, I have the power for that. So, who exactly do you like the most?"
"Edric, my eldest brother," Kai replied in a sumringah tone." He's played a big part in some part of my life."
"You could say so." Kai suddenly rose up while carrying many sheets of books that are no longer covered. He laid down before Isla who was sitting on the floor. "Why do you suddenly want to know about my family?" tanyakanya.
"Is it forbidden? I've got all the information about Amalthea, Hugo Lorelei, Emrys Heirloom and Akuji Army from Rex. But he really refused to talk about your brothers. Hence, I better ask you directly."
"The right decision. I don't like hearing other people gossiping about my family in the back. Rex understands the rules."
Isla nodded her head in understanding. He now focuses more on stacked obsolete paper with characters that he cannot read at all.
"I can't understand this."
"This is Hono Aksara. The original Amalthea. You won't understand if you don't study. Just like I was before heading into your world. I had to study many characters and alphabets that turned out to be many kinds."
"I'm also shocked, it turns out that in your place there is also a magic school."
"of course. Where would we all learn magic if not at the Academy? Although we are witches, but all the power we have must also have rules."
"Can an ordinary person like me learn magic?" ask Isla.
Kai shook his head. "Magic academies are for the descendants of witches only. So too with the Elf Academy. The Lumis in Amalthea couldn't even learn it. They wouldn't need our protection if they could learn magic."
Isla nodded her head again. After that, the two fell silent to each other. Kai is now focusing on reading the sheet of paper that has yellowed and torn here and there. Isla just watched without asking.
But over time the girl got bored too. He looked at Kai. The reddish-brown hair that fell on the book because the owner was looking down attracted Isla's attention. The girl touched it, making Kai look up instantly.
"Kai, I wonder why you're trying so hard to save me? Wouldn't it be easier to kill me and take Emrys' heirloom? You don't have to bother bringing me here. Besides, what you're doing right now could trigger a fight with your brother."
Kai was stunned for a moment." You realize that?" said it. Isla nodded. Kai put down the sheet of paper he held.
"I'm not a talented witch. I'm not as good as my brothers. Even now I still can't find my Rein magic. But, I try to cover up my shortcomings with things that I think are good. Sacrificing a creature that has nothing to do with my world is a big mistake. "
"Then what will it end if it doesn't work? I'm gonna die and you're gonna get punished. I've heard from Rex, you won't be able to use your sword in a certain amount of time. Your permission to leave Amalthea will also be revoked. Is that true?"
Kai nodded."It does. But I promised not to die, Isla. It's a waste of me bringing you here if you don't survive. Margus can save you."
"How is it? Are you really sure Margus knows how?"
Kai nodded steadily then picked up the paper he had previously put down. He showed the sheet to Isla.
"I'll translate it for you" Kai said as he moved his hand. The script suddenly changed and began to change its shape into the alphabet that Isla understood. The girl was once again amazed. He began to read a book he could now understand.
The paper apparently contained the theory of a potion. Explain how to make and also the materials needed. It seems that it was the writing of Margus himself, he explained in rather elusive words. But Isla read there are some words about Emrys Heirloom. Isla still doesn't understand why Kai showed her this.
"The heirloom can only be removed by the person who implanted it in a person's body. You are the second person after Queen Aria to be the living vessel of this Heirloom. And the one who had planted an heirloom in Queen Aria was Margus. That means the person who has put an heirloom on your body is..."
"Margos!" exclaim Isla.
