Sanggana Swordsman
Dewo13: Love of the People of Wongawet

*Wongawet Village (Dewo)*

After getting a secret message, Joko Calm prefers to rest at the Trade House. He only told Tudurya that he would be told that the Village Chief had finished his ritual.

Joko Calm suspects that there is evil in the strange village, but he must give priority to pursuing the Wind Sword Group. If you take care of the problems in the village, it will potentially affect the pursuit period.

But Joko surmised strongly, he would fail to persuade the Village Chief to let him and Tirana directly pass through the Light Hole Road that day or that night as well.

While in the women's area, Tirana enjoys helping young women cook a variety of foods and prepare them.

It turns out that such cooking activities are carried out every day by groups of women in turn. Such a roling system makes all residents of the village of Wongawet have expertise that is evenly distributed in all fields, although the level of proficiency varies.

It has become a habit of women, when gathered they will work while gossiping. Even though there was Tirana among them, still the young women in the big kitchen were talking about Joko.

“Tirana, what's your husband's name?” ask the girl who fries the fish.

“Joko Calm,” replied Tirana who helped memotongi potatoes.

“If Joko Calm who became the Village Chief, I think many of us who volunteered to be his wife. Hihihi!” said the fish fryer girl then laughed gigglingly which followed the laughter of several other girls.

Tirana just smiled hearing their jokes.

“Did you guys also do something like that to Ki Daraki?” ask Tirana.

“No,” replied the girl in charge of maintaining the availability of wood in the furnace so that the fire continues to be large. He looked around, as if looking for someone. Afterwards he said back, “Kemuning and Karani alone became a Temporary Beloved because of forced. Ki Daraki is handsome and dashing, but his bad temper makes us no one wants to offer to be his girlfriend.”

“Sunirma, be careful when talking about the Village Chief, the person who smiles at you could be complaining behind!” suhut Bangirayu.

“If I knew who the man who liked to look for that face, I would make him regret it. I am one of the eleven first generation people in this village. Besides Mak Gandur, who is the older woman of my age?” sunirma.

“If early generation, means how old are you?” tirana asked, interested to know.

“Eighty-nine years,” replied Sunirma.

“Better you and and your husband settle here. Your good looks and beauty are really hard to find. I'm very sorry if your face starts to wrinkle,” said the girl who cut up chicken meat.

“I am afraid to part with my husband if I stay here,” Tirana said with a smile.

“Yes that is, our shortcomings behind our advantages,” said Sunirma. “But it is still a good thing that men are not castrated by the Village Chief. Hahaha!”

Enlighten the place by the sound of laughter with them.

I don't think time goes by that day.

Sudarka came to see Joko at the Dagang house just before sunset.

“Please excuse me, Joko. Ki Daraki has been out of his usual place, but he can only be found after a meal,” Sudarka said.

“Alright, what can be made,” said Joko agreed, despite the vexation entrenched in her chest.

While in the women's area, the girls flock to the river to bathe ahead of a meal together. Tirana did not take a bath, she washed only her face, neck, hands and feet.

The same thing is done by young people.

“I'm a little confused with you guys. You dress up like a girl who wants to be cheered on by the youth, but the fact is you can't get it?” ask Tirana.

“Village Head really likes to see beautiful girls. I want to see how Ki Daraki reacts when he sees your beauty, Tirana,” said Bangirayu while polishing her lips with lipstick dicocoled in a small container.

“How long has Ki Daraki been Village Chief?” tirana asked again while looking at Bangirayu who was dressed up while her left hand held a dull mirror, which reflected a faint shadow from her face.

“About twenty years,” Bangirayu replied. “Decorated rules ahead of the meal are the rules of his creation. There was no such rule before. Even though the girls were forced, we ended up making it a way to attract the attention of the youth. It has been a secret between us, both women and men, hoping that the rule will be eliminated by the change of leadership in this village.”

“But we can only continue to hope. It feels difficult it will be realized, because Ki Daraki is supported by the Village Elder,” Asih Marang said from the door of the room.

“Asih Marang secretly has a lover, his name is Palang Segi,” said Bangirayu while smiling without looking at Asih who is behind him.

“It's a shame we can't be alone like lovers. But at least, I have the person I was looking for during the meal,” Foreigner Marang said then chuckled. “Come, guys have started coming to the square!”

“Come!” bangirayu.

The three of them went outside the house.

Tirana saw that the women had appeared in good clothes. They came out of their houses with their most beautiful faces. Their blooming smiles showed that they were happy.

“They will not heed the lustful gaze of the Village Chief to them, but they pay more attention to the gazes of the youths,” Bangirayu said. “You saw that!”

Bangirayu pointed to a girl dressed in white. The long haired girl had a clean white face and was very beautiful.

“Why him?” ask Tirana.

“The prettiest woman in this village. His name, Sedap Malu...”

“He must be Ki Daraki's lover,” terka Tirana.

“Not. She's Sudarka's lover. Only the Village Chief and Sudarka are entitled to have a lover.”

Finally they arrived at the square. It turned out that in the square there was a short, but spacious plank stage. The stage is knee-length. Dozens of reed poles that have been lit make the place bright, although nature will get darker.

On that stage, the youths had sat in an elongated circle. They number dozens of people. Those who had just come free would sit on which side, but the formation of the circle extended, so that they sat facing each other.

While the women who were not in charge of preparing dishes, sat in a similar formation, but they sat two fathoms behind the male position.

Because the men who sit first form a formation, the women will sit behind the young man who is opposite to the young man he likes. Like Asih Marang, he sat behind the young man opposite Palang Segi, so that the two could look at each other during the meal.

On that formation, at the end of the circle was a short-legged table that was still empty of people. It seems like the place was deliberately vacated.

Meanwhile, Joko Tenang had been sitting in that line. To his right sits Sudarka and to his left sits Tudurya. It was not far from the empty table.

Tirana and Bangirayu chose to sit behind the young man opposite Joko Calm. Apparently, Sedap Malu, the most beautiful woman who was shown by Bangirayu, sat on the other side of Bangirayu.

Joko Quiet was a bit surprised when she saw Tirana turned out to be with a woman who had previously often looked at her secretly. There was a confrontation between Joko Calm and Bangirayu. However, Sedap Malu thought that Joko Calm was looking at him, so he smiled shyly in his place.

Seeing her lover smiling strangely at Bangirayu's side, Sudarka became astonished and frowned. He looked at Joko Calm by his side. However, he saw Joko's face cold.

“Village Head comes!” exclaimed a young man. (BH)
