The Bitter Night
"Wantas? Age like we should?"
"Whatchu mean? I just got to work. Just finished college."
"Why? Many of you just graduated are married."
"Where is it possible that I'm married now."
"Why is it impossible? You can still work after marriage."
"Copyright.."
"Yes?"
"Do you want to get married?"
"Yes, hmm. I mean.."
"Are you ready to get married?"
"Why not? I'm already established. I have enough money to get married."
"Marriage is not about money. Marriage brings 2 different people together. Unite 2 families, unite 2 personalities, and unite 2 hearts."
"But for now, as soon as this, I'm still not ready, Flint.. My parents still need me, you know that."
Flint took a deep breath and exhaled him like a person on the move. That night, the night he had been waiting for, wanted to propose to his lover, even became an unwanted night. Not at all desirable. He reconsidered his intention to propose to the lover without his lover's knowledge.
"I'm sorry Flint, again, I hurt you" Julie said.
The atmosphere that night was very quiet. There was only the wind running, the running water and the chirping of birds. It was not the night Flint had expected. Or the other men who fared the same as Flint.
An awkward atmosphere came into them. It is not appropriate that a pair of lovers who have been in a relationship for 5 years can feel the awkward atmosphere like them. Not knowing what to answer, Flint preferred to be quiet. Since he couldn't blame his lover either, maybe he was the one who was too rushed, she thought.
"All right, I get it. I'm sorry I was too rushed into this. But 1 thing you should know, I've loved you from 5 years ago, still love you until now, and will always love you in the future until the end of my life. I promise you, tonnage, married or not I will always love you. Remember my words, Julie. I love you. Really, really love you." Flint ventured to say a word. However he is unable to control himself so he utters more than he thinks. Flint hugged Julie and kissed Julie on the forehead. He tried to be sincere about what had happened that night.
That night it felt like a nightmare for Flint but it was very real, he was able to feel the bitterness of being "rejected" even though he had not stated his proposal. The bitter night ended with Flint driving Julie home and saying "Thank you for tonight."
