The Woman in the Heart of the Adjutant

Chapter 2

"I'm just the unlucky bearer of this village, Mom. I am a bearer of disgrace. I'm a sinner."  The sartican tears broke instantly.

"You are not a sinner. It's just those who are unaware of their sins."

That hard time has been passed by Sartika. Remember when Sartika returned to his parents' house. Everyone in front of the house must have spit. Even at nightfall, the window of Sartika's room is always knocking. The unemployed men in the village thought Sartika was a village girl who could be paid. So evil their thoughts towards Sartika.

The unpleasant things he went through during the pregnancy of Sartika. So that he has hatred for the child he bears.

When going to give birth, Sartika had to use the child in his stomach.

"If it weren't for him, Sar wouldn't have felt this pain, Mother." Such was Sartika's defense when mamak advised her to stop blaming the child in her womb.

The first cry was greeted with joy by mom and dad. They had already forgotten how their grandson could be in his son's womb. What they feel now, is that they are happy to have their first grandchild. But not with Sartika. At least he wouldn't see his son. He even yelled for the midwife to take the child away from him.

"Corn, Sar. We'll hook up the kid first!"

"I don't want to. Just let him die!?" sartika yells.

"Sartica!" surprised to hear it.

"It has. Already, Mother. Maybe Sar needs time to accept his son." Kades' mother tried to give understanding to Mak.

"We give milk a hand, yes, Buk!" send Mother Kades to the midwife who takes care of Sartika's delivery.

Although my mother was worried how they bought formula milk for her grandchildren.

Sartika had intended to go to the city and leave the child with his grandparents. In fact, she would give the baby away if anyone would adopt her.

Does he hate his son that much?

"Sar's going to town, Mom. Sar's already registered at the helper's distribution foundation. Sar's got an employer." That's all Sar said the night before he left.

"What to do in town, son?" You speak up.

"If Sar here continues, how does Acha cost. Acha needs milk. His life is long."

Mamak and Father cannot forbid the desire of Sartika. "If that makes Sar happy, go. Mamaak's message don't leave prayers."

Sartika daydreams in bed. The maid room in Sartika's employer's house is very nice, better than the main room of her house in the village.

Sartika misses Acha. He had not been back to the village for a long time. Not because it is not allowed, only Sartika who does not want to. Every month Sartika only sends money for the needs of parents and children.

In the fifth year of Sartika wander, finally he returned to the village because he received a call from Ibu Kades who reported that he was sick. Thankful Mr. Malvyn is a British citizen and Ms. Fenita is a native allowing Sartika to go home to meet her parents and children. Not only that, they also give some money for the cost of medical treatment.

"This is a lot, sir," said Sartika at that time.

"It's okay, it's because of your loyalty of five years with us."

Mr. Malvyn and Ms. Fenita also know that Sartika has children in the village whose age is almost the same as their son named Adeline.

Actually, when Sartika took care of Adeline, she also remembered her little daughter who was not as lucky as Adeline. Adeline's taken care of her like she's taking care of her own child. While the child himself he let live with the grandmother.

Sartika recalled the first time he met Acha after five years of traveling. Acha is so beautiful that it looks like Sartika only her hair is different. Sartika has straight hair like a shampoo advertising star, while Acha has slightly curly hair.

"Murray!" Welcome Acha that afternoon when the travel car stops in front of the house.

Acha ran to hug Sartika. However, Sartika immediately went into the house without thinking about Acha's heart ignored by the person he had longed for so far.

Sartika still holds a grudge against the man who raped her until she also hates the child from the bastard night.

Sartika took the father to the hospital for treatment but, death cannot be avoided. A week in the hospital, my condition worsened. I have acute respiratory tract pain. During this time the father never checked his pain for reasons of cost.

Saddened? Definitely sad. Since the problem befell his family father did vent his grief by smoking cigarettes non-stop. You can spend two packs of kretek cigarettes in a day.

"You're leaving again, Sar?" mamak asked after he finished praying for three days at the funeral home.

"Sar has to go, Mommy. If Sar doesn't work, who pays for his life, Mak?" Sartika was reluctant to argue, he only gave the mamak questions to be digested by his own mamak.

"Acha needs milk, needs nutritious food, costs money for school." Sartika.

"There is the result of our garden, Sar," said the mammoth at that time who from earlier rubbed Acha's head until he fell asleep.

"Garden results are not much, Mak. Just get the guy who worked on it, Mak. Mak is old. Keep health. If you're sick, who's Acha with?"

"Yaz is the same you. You're his mother, Sar."

Hearing Mamak's answer, the look on Sartika's face looks unpleasant. "Here, my mother. Sar wants to get out of this village forever." Sartika stood up, she stepped towards the side window of the house. His gaze was far away as if it was able to pierce through the mighty mountain standing.

The eighth day after the father died, Sartika returned to the city. Continuing work at the home of Mr. Malvyn and Ms. Fenita. He also misses Adeline.

"Mak, Acha dear Mamak," said Acha before Sartika boarded the travel car that picked her up.

"Be careful, yes, Mak," continued Acha he wanted to try hugging Sartika.

This time, Sartika let Acha embrace her but, there was no reply from Sartika.

"Be careful, Mother." Back Acha reminded.

"Yes." Yeah." Only a short answer came out of Sartika's mouth.

Sartika left without a warm kiss on Acha's forehead. Grandma looked at Acha with pity. Why is Sartika so reluctant to show unfortunately to Acha.

"Mom, tomorrow you're home again, right?" ask Acha to grandma.

"God's Word is coming home." Grandma smiled and embraced Acha and they entered the house. "Acha pray, you are always healthy, yes!"

"Sure, Grandma. Every Acha salat, Acha pray mamak. Acha also pray for the father to come home too," said Acha without burden, assuming all is well.
