They ate dinner in silence. Jacelyn waited until the men finished their dinner before bringing up the topic of Shaista's well-being on Sgaire.
Jacelyn decided to get into the conversation. "Margaretha, this broth is very tasty."
"Thank you" Margaretha replied with a slight hue.
Jacelyn turned towards Sgaire. "Did you see your sister often?"
The knight looked up at Jacelyn, then shrugged his shoulders.
"Did you see his wife, Shaista?" jacelyn continued.
Sgaire shrugged her shoulders again. Jacelyn pushed the man's feet under the table with her feet. Sgaire raised an eyebrow at Jacelyn's behavior towards her.
"Did you just kick me?" asked Sgaire with a loud voice.
The question was not asked to make her behave more eloquently, Jacelyn thought. "Yes, I just kicked you."
"Why?" ask Ailean
Jacelyn turned around and smiled at the man. "I don't want Sgaire to answer me just by shrugging her shoulders. I want him to tell me about Shaista."
"But you don't even know the woman, Jacelyn." Ailean remembers Jacelyn.
"I want to know about her," argued Jacelyn stubbornly.
Ailean looked as if she was thinking that Jacelyn might have gone mad. Jacelyn sighed. Then, he began to tap his fingertips on the table.
"Tell me about Shaista, please,"
Sgaire ignored Jacelyn.
Jacelyn sighed. "Sgaire, will you come out with me for a minute? I want to talk to you about something very important personally."
"No."
Jacelyn could not help herself. He kicked Sgaire back. Then, he turned to Ailean. He did not see Sgaire smiling a bit. "Ailean, please order Sgaire to come out for a while with me."
"No."
Jacelyn again tapped her fingertips onto the table while thinking about her next plan. He looked up, saw a sad expression on Margaretha's face, and decided that even though he would look stupid, he had to find a way to get Seamus to talk about Shaista.
"Well then" said Jacelyn. "I might have to talk to Sgaire tomorrow alone on the way. I'll ride with you tomorrow, Sgaire." she added with an innocent smile. "Perhaps, I will also continue to speak from sunrise to sunset, Sgaire. So, you better get enough rest tonight."
The threat worked. Sgaire pushed herself away from the table and stood up. The frown on his forehead looks very deep. The man made everyone aware of the man's dissatisfaction. And yeah, that guy looks really angry.
Jacelyn was not angry. But he was very angry. For God's sake, he couldn't wait to take this fool out. He even forced a smile and managed to bow to his host before turning around and stepping out the door. He also continued to smile as he turned around and closed the door behind him.
In her decisiveness scolding Sgaire, Jacelyn forgot the two large windows that were on the side of the door.
Margaretha and Garfie sat behind the door, but Ailean and Azril could see clearly into the grassy area outside the window.
Ailean focused her attention on Sgaire. The knight faced him. Sgaire stood with her legs open with her hands tied behind her back. The man also kept trying to hide his irritation towards Jacelyn. Sgaire has a tough temperament. Ailean knew the knight would not touch Jacelyn, even though the woman had made her very angry. But, Sgaire could injure Jacelyn with some of her cruel remarks.
Ailean waited to see if she needed to intervene. The last thing she needed was a woman who would cry in her arms. And Sgaire was as good at intimidating techniques as he was.
However, he was suddenly surprised by his own smile. He did not believe what he had seen nor did Azril. "Did you see it?" azril whisper.
"I saw it too" exclaimed Garfie. "I just can't believe it. Is that Sgaire walking backwards?" He snorted happily. "I've never seen that kind of expression on his face. What do you think Jacelyn's doing to her?"
The woman was scolding Sgaire, breaking up Ailean. Jacelyn's hands are ruffled around her waist. And when the woman starts attacking her enemy, she will stop at nothing. Sgaire was clearly seen stepping back from the woman. The man also looks amazed.
Jacelyn's voice was not so audible because it was carried away by the wind and a considerable distance. But, Ailean knew that the woman was not whispering. No, Jacelyn was yelling and every few moments, Sgaire looked grimacing.
Ailean turned to look towards Margaretha. The woman's hand covered her lips, and when the woman realized that Ailean was observing her, the woman directly lowered her head to the table. However, Margaretha was not fast enough. So Ailean had caught the worry in the woman's eyes first, and knew that the woman was somehow involved in all this.
Door opens. Jacelyn forced a smile and rushed back to the table. He sat down, folded his arms over his lap, and let out a long sigh. Sgaire followed slowly. When the man sat back in his chair, all the attention was on him. Jacelyn felt safe enough to nod towards Margaretha. The woman replied with a blink of her eyes.
Ailean saw the action. He felt more curious.
Sgaire. "Shaista and Sinclair have cottages that are almost the same size as this building," Sgaire used the comment.
"Well, it's great to hear that" Carmous replied.
Sgaire nodded. His attitude clearly seemed very uncomfortable. "She's expecting her baby right now."
Margaretha was delighted. Tears bathed his eyes. She reached out and held her husband's hand. "We're going to have grandchildren" she whispered.
Carmous nodded. The man's eyes also glazed over. Carmous leads attention to the glass.
Ailean finally understood Jacelyn's game. The woman was angry, and also embarrassed herself, all because she wanted to help Margaretha find out about her daughter's circumstances. Jacelyn was a gentle woman. It never occurred to Ailean that Shaista's parents might want to hear the news about their daughter. But, outsiders were clearly able to see through it and even decided to help.
"Is there a specific question you'd like to ask about your daughter?" Ask Sgaire.
Margaret doesn't have just one question. He has hundreds of questions. Azril and Garfie even answered some of those questions.
Jacelyn was happy. However, he also felt annoyed knowing the fact, that the only reason Sgaire wanted to cooperate with him was because of his threat to ride along with the man. But for Sgaire, the thought of touching Jacelyn was more repulsive than discussing family matters. But, of course, what Jacelyn feels is not important. The happiness on Margaretha's face could beat Sgaire's annoying behavior.
The cottage was warm, almost hot. Jacelyn tried to concentrate on their conversation, but fatigue made it all difficult. He realized that when Carmous tried to refill Sgaire's glass with water, the pitcher was empty.
Jacelyn placed the chair she was sitting on near the stove and took another pot of water onto the table. Carmous nodded to thank him.
Oh my God, he was really tired.the men had already occupied the space he had vacated and his back was very sore to sit in that place again. He returned to the chair by the stove, sat down, and leaned on his shoulders the cold stone wall. He closed his eyes and fell asleep a minute later.
Ailean could not take her eyes off Jacelyn. That woman is so sweet. His face is like an angel. Ailean continued to look at the woman until she realized that Jacelyn was nodding at the seat she was sitting on.
Ailean nodded towards Sgaire for the man to continue his story, then moved to stand by Jacelyn. He leaned against the wall, folded his arms in front of his chest forming a relaxed position and heard Sgaire's story about Sinclair and Shaista. Margaretha and Carmous were glued to the man's story.they both smiled when Sgaire mentioned that Shaista was very chatty.
