"If my daughter Olivia was alive she'd probably grow up as beautiful as you are Bia." Uncle Ben chuckled softly. His old hand plucked deftly the buds of the young tea leaves and then threw them behind the bamboo crest.
That morning Bianca woke up faster than usual, initially helping Aunt Ye in the kitchen but because several times her finger was about to slice when cutting vegetables, Aunt Ye who grimaced and did not have the heart if Bianca was injured then she told Bianca to sit quietly and accompany her to chat.
Not long after Uncle Ben passed by, the man placed the finished cup of coffee and three boiled yams in a small bowl.
Uncle Ben massaged his wife's shoulder slowly and kissed her cheek before leaving.
Bianca was stunned to see the romance of their marriage.
"Where's the uncle going?" Ask Bianca.
"To the tea garden. Bianca want to come?" Baraw Uncle Ben who was immediately diyakan by Bianca with enthusiasm.
The weather this morning had not been too hot, the plantation area was still shrouded in thin fog and the sun was as timid as it appeared from behind the clouds. There were a lot of people working in the tea garden that morning. Everyone greeted Uncle Ben as he joined the others for tea.
Bianca sometimes did not understand why Uncle Ben had to bother working in the tea garden if he had many workers and some of these tea plantations became the man's property.
But Bianca's confusion was finally answered when Ben's uncle said that he liked gardening and interacting with many people. In addition to healthy activities, Uncle Ben can also involve himself directly in his business.
"Where's uncle's daughter? does she mean I mean Olivia's married?" Bianca asked as she inhaled the aroma of the tea leaf sprouts she had just picked up.
Uncle Ben's activities came to a halt shortly after hearing the question of the girl next to him. Not how long the man smiled and again picked the nearest tea leaves according to the reach of his hand.
"Olivia died twenty-three years ago." Answer Uncle Ben.
"Oh, sorry uncle I didn't mean—" Bianca held Uncle Ben's palm, the girl condemned his carelessness and insensitivity.
"It's okay, it's been a while." Uncle Ben smiled lightly, and patted Bianca on the shoulder to calm her down as she felt guilty bringing up her sadness in the past.
"Olivia died of an illness, I don't know how she had a noble heart. At the age of five she asked me to set up an orphanage as her birthday present. Olivia always wanted to help others. Two years after the 'Love Shines' orphanage my little daughter founded died of cancer in her body." Bianca continued to watch and listen to the man tell her a story. Although Uncle Ben did not mind opening his grief but Bianca was unable to hold back her tears.
The girl hurriedly wiped away the trace of her tears before Uncle Ben looked at her and felt uneasy.
"Daniel, Alicia and Olivia are best friends. Olivia's been like a sister to them." Uncle Ben smiled as he recalled their daughter's closeness to Daniel and Alicia.
"Yes, Alicia came to the orphanage after the death of her parents. I remember Alicia being so unkempt and she had a pretty great trauma from seeing her parents die in front of her in a traffic accident. Only he survived the incident."
Bianca listened to Uncle Ben's every story carefully.
"Olivia became a first friend when Alicia was escorted by the police officer to our place. Olivia always sleeps with him when Alicia has nightmares. Alicia started to open up a little and the little girl came back cheerful. Wherever Olivia goes, Alicia will follow her."
"Two months later, Daniel came to our orphanage. Alicia found him sitting by hugging his knees in front of the entrance gate in the midst of the heavy rain."
"Did Daniel lose both his parents?" Ask Bianca.
"Yes but not all of them, his mother died from self-harm. His father was still alive and married another woman two weeks after his wife's death."
"Mother Daniel harmed in—himself?" Bianca asked confused, half in disbelief.
"Yes, from the CCTV investigation Kindergarten Evelyn accidentally crashed herself into the middle of the road. He died on the spot after a freight truck passed by. Daniel saw how his mother was bleeding. After her mother's death, she never wanted to go home, the Kasih Bersinar orphanage was already her second home. Daniel and Alicia were hardest hit when Olivia left. Alicia was adopted by the Creighton family a few months later and brought to Australia. And Daniel was brought home forcibly by his father's aide."
"But ten years later, our Orphanage had to be displaced due to road construction. Almost all of the children had adopted parents but little Timmy and others insisted on coming with us. I decided to go back to the village to continue my parents' plantation with some children.it used to be just Timmy, Rachel and Bob but the police always came to bring the poor children to us. My wife and I love our children and help them as much as possible by being their parents. I thank my little daughter who is now in heaven, for her blessing we are now useful parents to other children."
Uncle Ben turned his head and found Bianca beside him already crying as he pleased.
"Bianca—"
"Uncle thank you for inspiring and awakening me. huhuhu.I don't know my life is luckier than a brand that has no parents huhuhu." Bianca squanders herself to embrace Uncle Ben.
"It's okay." Uncle Ben patted Bianca's shoulder slowly.
"Sorry uncle told you too much to make you cry."
"It's okay uncle I'm just happy to hear the experience of uncle's life."
'Maybe this is what my mom and dad felt when Tara was gone. They keep trying hard like Uncle Ben, despite losing his daughter.'
In his heart Bianca promised, after coming home from here he would learn filial piety to his parents.
