Chapter 73: First and Last Love

The most difficult thing for a father is to release his baby who has been treated with all his heart, to someone who is none other than his chosen future husband. He is the person who first welcomes the child when first born into the world, but must sincerely accept if they will have a new life with their chosen person.

Nicholas looked at Jessica and Williams in turn. There were no signs of coercion from the two, and the feeling of falling in love was still vaguely visible to his old eyes. Although both try to cover as best as possible.

"Je, do you really like it?" nicholas asked gently to the princess.

Just a nod of embarrassment Jessica could show. Unknowingly her red cheeks turn as red as apples, like teenagers in love in general. The first thing Nicholas saw from the girl so far was because Jessica had never been in a relationship until now.

Everyone in the room fell silent, they let Nicholas out his current feelings. "With my now fragile hand, I carried it for the first time, even before I gave it to my wife to breastfeed." 

Again Nicholas fell silent, the shadow of the struggle to see the wife gave birth to his three children again gnashed in the mind of the man. "We take care of him wholeheartedly, with all the best things we have. Every development of his life is always awaited. The moment where she started smiling, laughing, crawling, walking, even crying, and grieving I was the one who was always there for her." 

Nicholas turned his gaze, he stared fixedly at the young man before him at this moment. "Now you have come after more than twenty years of our union, and he has chosen you as his companion." He lowered his head, his fingers wiping away the drop of water in the corner of his eye. It is hard for a father to let go of his beloved daughter to others. 

"There is nothing I can do as a parent other than pray for your happiness. I must sincerely release him to you who will be your companion for life. But, if one day you can't keep that promise, and you don't love her anymore, or you find a new person who you think is more charming than her. Then tell me at that moment. Don't hurt him! We're still here all the time. Willing to take her back to pick her up and give her all the love we have for her." 

Haru immediately filled the room as a result of Nicholas's words. Jesslyn would not even be able to speak anymore, if her parents were still around. Maybe he will also experience the same thing before stepping into the marriage first, while Jessica immediately cried and hugged the body tightly of the father. 

"Never did Daddy think. My little daughter is now an adult. Should Daddy carry you again when you cry like this?" nicholas rubbed his daughter's back.

William took a deep breath hearing how deeply Nicholas had spoken. Although a man, but he was eager for her to let out tears right now. However, as hard as he could, the man tried to hold her back. It was fortunate that Jessica had a very good life and was among both wise parents.

"Willams, come here!" pinta Nicholas's.

William sat down next to Nicholas. The man held the hand of his daughter and future son-in-law together on his palm. "Now I entrust the duty of guarding it to you, son. Maybe she is not a perfect woman and lacks too much. But I hope you will accept it as sincerely as your heart."

For a moment Liam was silent and looked at Jessica whose eyes were red, filled with water. He then turned his eyes to Jesslyn who had thrown away her face because she did not want her sadness to be seen. Liam then looked back at the figure of the man who was no longer young in front of him.

"Uncle, thank you for entrusting your beloved daughter to me. You guys were so amazing that Jessica grew up to be a woman who was also amazingly charming in my eyes, from the beginning I saw her. Maybe the affection you give her is not enough to compensate for the love you've been pouring out all along. I won't promise you sweet words that I can't keep. But, I promise to make her the only companion of my entire life. And no matter what happens, I will always take care of her sincerely, despite having to inflame everything I have. Including my soul and body. My presence here is not to replace you as Jessica's first love, Uncle Nicholas. But, allow this imperfect me, to be a perfecter of his life with the love I have. And vice versa."

William's heartfelt words touched Nicholas' heart. There are no words that show pride. He was also satisfied with the answer of his son-in-law.
