Kirana

Kirana
Chapters 13. Reporting the Perpetrator to the Police

It was already twenty minutes past, they were eating in an awkward atmosphere. Every time Vano asked Marwah to speak, the woman responded only briefly. Marwah was busy chatting with the pink hijab girl sitting next to her.

Kirana felt something was wrong. Marwah's attitude was cold. Though yesterday, they had already been chatting familiarly on the phone. Kirana thought, Marwah has received it well.

But what is this? marwah has not revealed her presence. Even the woman always looked at Danish with a look of dislike, especially when Danish several times called Vano with the name papa.

The dinner is over, after the table is clean of some dishes. Vano took the initiative to start serious talks.

"Mothers... Like I said. Kirana is my future wife, we ask for the blessing of mother to get married." said Vano, he looked at Kirana in the shade. Love is clearly reflected in those eyes.

Marwah gave a rude snort, before finally speaking.

"Have you ever been married, Kirana?" ask Marwah.

Kirana flinched, she was confused as to what to answer. While Vano who heard his mother's question, was shocked.

As Vano recalls, he once told Marwah about Kirana's status as a single parent. Then Marwah understood and did not ask any further. Vano thought, Marwah will not ask that now.

Vano clasped Kirana's hand, gesturing for Kirana to nod her head.

But what Kirana does is different. He shook his head slowly. Honesty is important. Kirana doesn't want their relationship to start with a lie.

A mocking smile was etched on the face of the pink veiled girl. But he immediately covered it up. Pretend to drink water from an available glass.

"So... Is the child the result of an extramarital relationship?"

"Mother!" Vano yelled at Marwah.

Marwah did not accept, she looked at Kirana with a look of dislike.

"Look! Even Vano has dared to yell at me because of you."

Kirana lowered her head, her hands squeezing each other. Kirana's eyes began to feel hot, with just one blink. Kirana desperately held him back. He didn't want to look sad, in front of Danish.

"Mother please don't be like this. Didn't I explain to Mom?" persuade Vano. His voice softened, trying to melt the attitude of Marwah.

"But you didn't tell mom that Kirana had never been married. Vano, you can get a better girl. Look at this, her name is Bianca. She's more suited to be your future wife. Idaman's daughter-in-law." said Marwah, pointing to the girl in pink hijab who had been silent since. Just observing the situation with his round eyes.

Turns out... Marwah deliberately brought the girl, to be introduced as a prospective dream daughter-in-law. It made Kirana feel unappreciated. They had a meeting to talk about marriage, how could Marwah bring another future wife?

Vano looked at Marwah with a look of disbelief. He did not think that his mother would say rude.

If he knew it would be like this, then Vano would not have met him with Kirana. It's better to marry without her mother's knowledge, than to see Kirana hurt.

"Liat the boy, he called you papa instead. But he doesn't know... Who is his biological father." - prying eyes of Marwah. He was still not satisfied as well as spouting hurtful words.

Kirana's tears can no longer be shed. All of Marwah's words were too painful for her. He shut Danish ears, so that his son would not hear Marwah's words.

"A bastard." muttered Marwah softly, but it can still be heard by Kirana.

"Mommy's gone too far!" Vano exclaimed angrily, he turned to look at the girl named Bianca.

"You! how much did my mom pay to come here?"

"Bianca or whoever your name is, I don't care. But my future wife is only Kirana. With or without my mother's blessing!"

"Vano, why do you say such insolent mother. Do you prefer a woman whose origin is unclear? you just know him... Who knows if he'll just use you."

Kirana could not bear to hear it, all this debate would not end if she was still here. Kirana stood up holding one Danish hand.

"It's enough Vano. I'd better go now... Aunt Marwah, I understand that aunt doesn't like me. Aunty can insult me anything, but please don't call Danish an illegitimate child. There are no illegitimate children in this world. They were born holy without sin, whoever their parents were. The only sinner is his parents, not the child."

Marwah was stunned to hear Kirana's words. But he immediately turned his eyes in another direction.

While wiping her tears, Kirana held Danish, and left the luxurious place.

His heart ached too much to accept Marwah's words, until he felt unable to support his own body.

"Kir, wait." Vano caught up with Kirana. They're out of the restaurant.

"A-I'm sorry."

"There's nothing to forgive, Van. Your mother was right, you deserve better. Than dirty women like me." said Kirana, then took Danish from her sling. Bend your knees to the level of the Danish.

"Danish is fine, right?" ask Kirana gently. He did not want Danish to feel shocked, because he heard the harsh words earlier.

Danish nodded, her smile splattered, rubbing her cheek with her tiny hands. Although he did not understand, but Danish knew that his beloved mother was sad. And those who are in there are bad people, who make their mother like this.

"God, Kir. You're the one I love. You're the best woman I know." Vano remained firm on his stance.

Kirana sighed, clasping Danish's hand tightly. Then looked into Vano's eyes with a sharp look.

"You haven't told me everything about me to your mother, have you?"

Vano. With Vano silent, Kirana knew that the question was true.

"Sorry Vano, I can't continue this. Thank you for everything you have given me. I can't live with a man whose family considers Danish a disgrace. She's everything to me."

Vano looks frustrated. He did not accept Kirana's decision at the moment.

For him Kirana is everything, Vano is not ready to lose the woman he loves.

"I'll talk to Mom again. Please don't be like this. Now I'll drive you home."

"I can take a taxi."

"Kirana, please. You don't see Danish, he's tired. When are you waiting for the taxi to come?"

Kirana turned to look at Danish. Vano was right, Danish's face looked sleepy and tired. In rush hour like this, it is very difficult to find an empty taxi.

Kirana finally nodded. Although forced, he wants to accept Vano's invitation to go home together.
