Chapter 33: Sorry?

The rustling of tree leaves blown by the wind becomes the rhythm of the nighttime delivery with the sound of frogs and earthworms blending together. Nocturnal animals begin to come out of their nests to forage for survival when some of the other inhabitants of the earth are already asleep with their dreamland

Looking at the clock that showed at half an hour in the morning, Layla yawned widely and snorted annoyedly at the sound of her house bell ringing loudly. He glanced beside the sleeping temple, Qais was not there. But Qais had a spare key if he wanted to enter, so he thought that it was definitely not the man who was hitting the bell like that

"Just a second!" The screams were loud enough for the man to stop pushing the bell to disturb the neighbor next to them

The sound of the door opening made Layla able to see Gabril who was embracing someone who was looking down and rummaging indistinctly

Without warning, Gabril went in and took off Qais on the sofa for granted

"Sir Qais" Layla was surprised to see her husband's battered condition with purplish-colored bruises around the temples and lips

"Sir Ila" Gabril held onto his cousin's shoulder while shaking his head. The son of Regan and Kirana was guiding Layla to sit on the opposite side of the sofa that Qais did not occupy

"Say, what's that guy every night like this?!" Ask with emphasis. He couldn't have let Layla suffer because of a man like Qais. Apart from her mother who already considers Layla as her child, she also considers Layla as an older sister that she must protect

"Gabril, please don't tell anyone" Layla looked at the man pleading

"No.." Layla held the man's hand before Gabril could finish. Layla nodded slowly

"This is the first time" Layla replied confident that even though she did not know about Qais

"Did he hurt you?" Layla nodded firmly. Qais never hurt his physique

"Please don't tell anyone, because it will be a ruin in our household"

"It should have been from the beginning this man was not with you brother, he was not a good man"

"Don't say that again!, only God deserves to judge the bad of man" Layla said. She doesn't like it when someone calls her husband not a good man, even though it may be true in the human view. Because according to him, good or bad someone must have a cause and he has not found the cause in Qais

"Please don't tell anyone Gabril, you know enough"

Gabril let out a long sigh then turned to stare at Qais who was somehow muttering

"If I see him like this again or dare to hurt you, I make sure he is lying in a hospital bed" Layla was about to refute, but immediately nodded when she saw Gabril still holding back emotions

"Now go home, don't make your parents worry about you at home. I know you must have secretly run away" Gabril snorted but unstoppably rose from his seat to the exit

With a complicated and indecipherable look, Layla approached Qais and cried beside the man. Really, he was very disappointed to see Qais like this. But he knew there must be a reason behind it that Qais didn't want to tell him. What kind of household are they currently living in?. Hiding something without ever intending to open up

"Sir Qais" Layla compresses the man's bruised face with ice water

"I don't deserve him" the line just slid out of Qais's lips. Sentences that have been continuously muttered

"I should have realized I didn't deserve it"

"Sir Qais" Layla patted the man's cheeks pretty hard, according to which she read the internet the easiest way to relieve a hangover is with warm water

"Drink first" Layla helps Qais get up and drink the water she carries

"I'm hallucinating seeing you. Ila, I love you but I can't possibly deserve you" said Qais, who still considers herself hallucinating

"Conscious Brother Qais, this is not a hallucination. But I'm your wife" Layla shook the man's body. Unconsciously he sighed softly

"Please don't do this anymore" Layla didn't know what to say. Disappointed, sad and angry, the various feelings were mixed in his heart

Dizziness, that was what Qais felt when he opened his eyes, he circulated his gaze around and this place was like a stranger, he twitched his temple slowly and realized his arms were heavy. The man turned his head to the side and reflexes woke up from his sleep which made his head even more dizzy. Layla was no less surprised because she felt a sudden movement that made her immediately open her eyes

"Sir Qais all right?" Layla looked at the silent man and looked down

"sorry"

"Sorry Ila, I'm the one who failed to guide you. I failed to be the priest who guided his mother. I should have realized it from the beginning with myself. Not being selfish with my feelings without thinking about how you feel. I should have realized that hearts can't be forced because they'll only hurt each other"

"Correct.." Qais looked at Layla who said that, then looked back down. To be honest, it hurts to hear that directly

"But Sister Qais forgot something that God could not unite us if we were not fools. We don't meet and then mate, but because we mate and then we meet"

"Sometimes God's destiny is unpredictable. There is wisdom behind everything. We need to be sure that what God gives us means what is best for us"

"It's a lie to say I wasn't upset and angry that night, but I realized it was God's best for me"

"Including killing?" it was just a sentence that Qais was capable of saying in his heart
